He can draw but his art style changing 360 degree from kishi. They all basically turns into different characters. I think that's why people can't accept it. If only slightly changing i dont see any problem with it.
I'm thinking later down the line some of his art will speak volumes and show off his skill, and he will be accepted. Then the reverse bandwagon will begin lol.
Well honestly I think Ikemoto's talents reside in backgrounds, rather than facial expressions/character proportions.

^These background images are fire. Characters? Not so much.
I don't entirely agree with the statures of certain characters. One minute Sasuke looks like an Adult man, the second he looks like a walking string bean. What he did to Hinata should be a sin, and Himawari probably has the worst design as of now.
Plus I've seen Ikemoto really draw Naruto the way he wants to:

I think that critizing the current art is okay, it's hilarious to look at the character designs when you compare them to the old style. Though I really don't like people saying that he can't draw, he obviously can.
Anyway here's some background information on Ikemoto if anyone wanted to see it.

What-ever is making the art lackluster probably will change as time moves forward. I don't really care about the art looking great as of right now. There's really nothing to look at that we haven't seen animated already, so what's the point? That's my take on it. When they start creating their own arcs ... That's when I'll critic their stuff heavily.

Exactly. OBVIOUSLY he can draw lol, that's why I hate when it's stated that he can't. Orochimaru makes me burst into hysterical laughter that I can't stop, but Rocklee looks amazing in that photo, and Tsunade as well. Evident talent is evident. But as you have stated I really do think it will improve vastly as time goes on.

It says that in Ikemoto's profile that he helps Kishimoto with:
> Background figures/Crowds
> Adding white to speed lines
> Character eyes
> Stars in the Night Sky
> Adding half-tones
I bet people don't even know that Kishimoto doesn't hand draw panels out by himself, he has other artists with him on standby that work with him as a unit. Eh anyway he obviously doesn't specialize in the category that we expect him to when running a Mangaka as the lead artist by himself. With time he will start to improve, and I think being capable of doing backgrounds is more important than the characters themselves. Naruto is known for it's amazing widespread views (like Pain destroying the entire Leaf Village) and such.
So I look forward to see more impressive stuff of that nature in the future. When-ever the rehash is over... gah.
