*Note: This is about the Manga/Anime, but is explained from the perspective of the real world, to make sense of things and contrast.

All of these 'Vs' threads, threads about power, and ability, shows me a general mis-understanding about what power is. Delicately putting this, power in Naruto and the world we live in are not that different. If I were to ask you who the most powerful person was, what would you say? Oprah? Bill Gates? Barack Obama? How about of all time? Alexander the Great? Caesar? King Alexander? The most powerful people, in context, can be Warriors, Politicians, Generals, or the Wealthy, or all. Now, what if I asked you who the greatest fighter/warrior was? Mas Oyama, Bruce Lee, Musashi Miyamoto?

All of the people I mentioned were considered great for various reasons. Some did many great things, some used weapons, some their brain. But all in all, the 'strength' these individuals had was obvious.

Lets apply this to Naruto now. Kakashi, Shikamaru, Oro, and Madara/Tobi they are all brilliant individuals in the Naruto world. Strategy and cunning are beyond that of most men. The perception the men have on and off the battle field is many steps above/beyond that of most ninja, they are very powerful. They we have 'Genius' ninja, born beyond that of most men with natural ability and family traits to make them great. Kakashi is the Son of Sakumo, Naruto son of Minato, Sasuke and Itachi are the sons of one of the strongest Uchiha and natural Genius ninja, Oro was considered the greatest Genius of his generation. Then we have actual brute strength. Tsunade, and Sakura make even the strongest ninja fear her. Then we have stealth/spy ninja, who are strong as they specialize in group, covert and secret missions, going through even more intense training, known as the Anbu/the Foundation, we also have Jiraiya as a major spy as well. And we have summons, blood line traits, special eyes, natural advantage such as Chakra amount or stamina. Ultimately battle experience in and of itself matters. And did I mention the power of being an expert Medical ninja as Kabut oshows when he fights Tsunade as his ability to cut chakra lines nearly kills her. I can continue, but my point is obvious, all traits can make a person 'Powerful' but all in all the best needs to have a clear advantage in more than one area. One can be a great Ninja by being an expert in one area.

Asking if one person is stronger than another is impossible to really know, as battle will always have a different outcome/ending. Lets look at my real world examples. Mas Oyama vs Bruce Lee is a very common "Great vs Great" debate. One side says Lee was a simple actor, the other says he was a true master. But when it comes down to it, we have proof Mas Oyama can kill a bull with the punch of his fist, but bruce Lee had body masters, used Kinetic energy like an expert, and was too fast for the camera in many situations. They both trained for different things for hours upon hours. They both had different goals. Is Sasuke better than Itachi although he "Won" the fight? Hell no. Is Senju stronger than Madara dispite the confliction over the intension of the fight? Not really, this is a grey area. All in all, it is not possible to say what is better than another for sure. Unless two people have the same background, ability and strengths, an exact body clone, it is impossible to determine the outcome unless one person is so powerful they eclipse the other. But as in David and Galiath, even this is not set in stone.

Think about this before you say one person can beat another, or one person was stronger than another. It comes down more to personal feelings than anything else. The Manga is written to get to a planned ending, some fights need to end as they do, but it does not say it should. Ninja attain power to better the odds of winning. The extra Kunai, the greater number, the stronger leader, and the more experience can have the same effect on the outcome of a conflict. Remember this.
