It's a little unclear but when Madara was first summoned into the war that was the first time he has been alive since his death, so the time Kabuto first summoned him to intimidate Tobi he was unconscious or maybe it was just his corpse. But when Muu used summoning jitsu (not Edo tensi) he was conscious for the first time but it wasn't Edo tensi nor did Kabuto used Edo tensi before that because Madara doesn't remember that moment. It's possible that Madara was unconscious when Kabuto infused him with Hashi cells but it doesn't add up for me. (Spoiler) The reason that Madara was Kabuto biggest trump card is because he keep in secret who ressurected Madara so even if he was some how forced to release Edo Tensi Madara wouldn't be release. He also wouldn't need to control Madara because he has the most likely has the same objectives as Tobi and himself. Feel free to add anything I missed because I feel like I did.

Well first of all kabuto doesn't have the same objectives. His goal was to have the sage body & know the secrets behind it whereas Tobi/Madara wants to control the whole narutoverse with their infinite Tsukyomi plan, ultimately rule the world.
Secondly when Kabuto revealed Madara's ET to Tobi, he was unconscious coz he had completely bind him under his control later now Madara is still under his control but has the freewill to get the best out of him..
It's still unclear if he can escape out of kabuto controll. The next chap will probably show this, if he can then he will not disappear when ET is released.

Madara stays back because Orochimaru summoned him way back even before he attacked Konoha. The third coffin was not Minato. It was Madara. He experimented on him further after that with Kabuto and perfected him using Hashirama's DNA. Hence, Madara stays.

there is 0 viable proof for that LOL - hiruzen assumes its the 4th hokage as Oro summoned the first 2 - also he couldnt summon the 4th as he was already sealed with death reaper seal, if Oro had madara dna and wanted to summon him, he could have.:sy:
