Classifying undefined elemental Kekkei Genkis
Some of the elemental releases throughout the series have not had their basic elements unveiled and often confound me as to what they may be made of. Some canon, others from films, games, fillers, etc. Here are at least five I've found.
1) Blaze Release (Sasuke. manga and anime)
-C claimed that though Sasuke was manipulating the flames of Amaterasu, it was still somehow named as a release and possessed more than one property. I've always taken the other property as being lightning release since Sasuke developed it the most and since that was his only other element. Furthermore, he can wield it in his hands now just like Chidori and lightning consists of plasma just like fire. However, from my experience, most only classify it as Amaterasu being manipulated with Sasuke's eyes.
-Classification difficulty: 3/5
2) Explosion Release (Deidara and Gari. manga and anime)
-This was clearly a kekkei Genki composed of earth since it is primarily clay and comes from the hidden rock village. Deidara's clay is of course based off the real world explosive called C4 composed of several organic chemical compounds when mixed in the proper proportions take the form of a claylike substance that can ignite and explode via a combination of extreme heat and a shockwave from its trigger. Based on this, I would classify it as a combination of earth and fire. However, Deidara does in fact refer to it as clay and C4's ingredients are combined with a binder dissolved in a solvent. This could mean water could also be a part of the release, or at least an addition, similar to how Gaara manipulates his sand with his wind release, but the two do not create a kekkei genki. With Gari's basic explosion style, I have little to go on other than he too combining his earth and fire elements or possibly fire with lightning to create an unstable mixture of the two plasma-based elements.
-Classification difficulty: 3.5/5
3) Magnet Release (3rd Kazekage and Sasori. Manga and anime)
-If this were just sand, you could simply classify it as a mix of earth and wind and not really even a kekkei Genki. However, it is black and of course magnetic, allowing it to take solid shapes and as I recall, it is described as being iron. This leads me to believe it is composed of the earth and lightning elements and like sand, uses wind to levitate and manipulate it.
Classification difficulty: 1.5/5
4) Dark Release (Hiruko. Naruto Shippuden Movie 3: Inheritors of the Will of Fire)
-This is probably the strangest and most confounding one other than the explosion and crystal releases. Hiruko uses it to absorb the stamina energies of people, Yin and Yang, then throw them back at them in the form of a chaotic blue flame. Based on this, it could possess any number of possibilities. It could be a combination of all five elements (which Hiruzen seemed to claim the Gudou damas were composed of) or simply another manipulation of Yin-Yang release like Onmyoudon and Izanagi. Nevertheless, the movie's data claims Hiruko possesses only four of the five elements, though this may just be due to he only actually using four of them.
Classification difficulty: 4.5/5
5) Swift Release (Hiruko. Naruto Shippuden Movie 3: Inheritors of the Will of Fire)
-This one I was able to understand a bit better. It's properties are similar to the lightning flicker technique, granting the user the ability to move at lightning fast speeds. Based on this, I decided to classify it as a combination of lightning and wind. However, it shares the same romanji as dust release, aka Jinton.
Classification difficulty: 1/5
6) Steel Release (Hiruko. Naruto Shippuden Movie 3: Inheritors of the Will of Fire)
-Yet another one that confounds me. Steel is an alloy of iron and carbon so naturally this would probably be composed of earth and fire. However, to cool steel down fast and to make it hard, you require water. Furthermore, this technique was used to harden the flesh, which is composed primarily of water. With this, I'd say it could be a combination of these three elements or at the very least, the first two.
Classification difficulty: 3/5
7) Crystal Release (Guren, Naruto Shippuden: 3 tails arc)
-"Crystallization is the process of forming a crystalline structure from a fluid or from materials dissolved in a fluid." This is the general definition of crystalization, but the concept as a whole is incredibly complex with at least three different classifications. I would classify Guren's crystal release as a polycrystal however, composed of dissolved minerals. For these minerals to crystalize, they require ambient pressure and specific temperatures. "By volume and weight, the largest concentrations of crystals in the earth are part of the Earth's solid bedrock." Based on this, I would assume the crystal release is composed of at least Earth and Water with either wind, lighting or fire as a catalyst. This would describe it as a Kekkei Tota, though considering the mid tier power level of the crystal release, it may just be composed of the two latter elements and the catalyst remaining a separate element.
Classification difficulty: 4.5/5
Those are my thoughts. Questions? Comments? Any releases I missed?
