I initially intended to post this in 123fire's "NB is dead" thread but since that thread was closed, I decided to make another thread in a more friendly zone.

Using the term "dead" doesn't fit NB's current state at all. A forum can only be considered dead when only two members are active over an extended period of time mainly a month. NB is nowhere near that state. We have 100 members online daily at a minimum and 200 members online daily at a maximum. 100 members is not a small number, it can have a massive effect in ensuring high activity in a forum. I generally consider 100 members to be a century mark where a forum can be called "super active". This is why there are very few manga sites with a 100 member daily count from my experience. Just by looking at the number of members, nobody would consider NB to be dead.

Thus, saying that NB is dead is foolishness. The correct term to describe NB's current state is "Stagnation".

That's correct people, "NB is actually stagnating".

How is NB stagnating ? The symptoms are all there :-

1- The Premium Chat's quality has detoriated (As a former Premium Member I can assure this is true).
2- Chatterbox has pretty much become a boring and dud section. Sadly, even the Chatroom Corner thread has lost it's shine.
3- Repititive threads been posted over and over again in NDS.
4- Contests becoming even more restricted has contributed to this effect.
5- Some Manga Sections only get a chapter discussion thread and then no other threads for discussion follow.
6- Many people have commented that they just log in, see some threads, post a little and log out. This is a effect of stagnation.
7- The community has no events to bond members considering the member size. Most if the time it is controversial topics that end up bringing the community together.

To top this all off, seeing a 100 - 200 member community I do not see enough activity being created which fits that member count. I see NB in a lapse phase with many members here and there but doing nothing to increase activity.

In the end, It is important to note that this is based on my observations and I could be wrong on some of these. Also I have refrained from commenting about the RP because for me it doesn't exist (If you think the RP is also stagnating feel free to comment).

All in all, the feeling that I am getting from NB now is Stagnation. Do you agree that NB is Stagnating ? Or not ?

Discuss.

(I spoke my mind here, Thanks for Reading).

It's because .. well no cats.

" But never before has salvation been so easy. Perusing you-tube and random manga while observing global forum from my Ozymandias-style control center, I have pinpointed precisely what NB lacks.

Cats.

You scoff. You doubt. But that's why NB is in need of rescue: It's inability to see the big picture. Look how popular the Internet is. And the Internet currently runs entirely on cat pictures. You need to seize that zeitgeist and put more kitties in your life.

Jeffrey Brown got the memo back in 2007. He drew Cat Getting Out of a Bag and went from that extra-sad minicomic guy to that bestselling graphic novelist and filmmaker who hangs out with Death Cab for Cutie. Is it any coincidence that the most revered minicomic of all time is John Porcellino's King-Cat Comics? Or that no comics fan can ever, ever say no to more Catman? I don't think so.

You can do it, NB. All it takes is more cats.

Once we agree to this, we can expand to other discussions, then start talking turkey about why the current lineup of the Avengers includes no (0) cats. Upon these humble foundations, NB can build an empire to rival that of ancient Egypt, which was also big on the cats.

Yeah that must be it.

The answer lies in my rep status literally. Like many people here, I was addicted to NB. So when I suddenly left NB to stop the addiction, I would suffer from relapses (Many members here have undergone this) and end up on NB again. Basically it's a vicious cycle. You get addicted to NB < See that it is taking over your life < Put your foot down one day and leave < Suffer from depression and resudial memories < Come back to NB again. Rinse and Repeat. I have gone through this two times. The number one reason for the relapses was : "I still had an intrest in NB". I decided that if I remove this, my addiction will disappear.

Only after the first reason came to light, I realised the answer to free myself from this cycle. I thought like a drug addict going for de-addiction. I will like them over time slowly divert my attention from NB to other social online mediums (I use Hike and Facebook) and from there to real life (I have started focusing more on college, started to improve and increase my interactions in college and started doing exercises in home [The cramps are painful though]).

This plan has worked perfectly till now. The stagnation of NB really helped me in my cause (Talk about irony at it's finest). My intrest in NB has waned heavily, so much so that I do the same as the other people that I have reffered to : log in, see around, log out. My activity in the first week of July is like an ant compared to my elephantous activity from 2014 - 2016. I did it over one month and thay suprises me a lot. I think eventually, my intrest on NB will disappear completely and I will make an extended exit from here. It was this advice that I even gave to Indra for combating his procasination.

My only regret would be to lost contact with my NB friends which was the second reason for my relapses. I have found the best answer, to be-friend them on Facebook and interact with them there so that the NB influence will go away.

About your second half, I made this thread to highlight the ignorance of many people here and tell them that thier interpretations of NB are wrong. You can also see this as me venting out my frustation over inaction of multiple parties which led to the stagnation in the first place. This also ties to the above, if I vent out my frustation and anger, I can be free of regrets and can put NB on a dusty throne in the attic of my mind. :pkun:

I mostly agree with you.

The only reason I come to NB is because I've been a member since I was a little kid (literally) and I've made great friends here, its fun to talk with them. Always a positive atmosphere among them, and yeah, as Ira said, Addiction :lol .

Addiction.
You never fail to amuse me Jean Grey. Thank you :)

I'm just concerned of this boy wasting time writing a wall of text over for a silly "dead" word which doesn't bring anything good for anybody or neither anyone cares :)

@Sam:
Its good you're putting some effort not to get addicted to it. But writing a wall of text for a silly "dead" word is way too much. I don't believe anyone would appreciate your effort. Its a total waste of your precious time.:eek:w:

The only person who will not appreciate what I have wriiten is the one who doesn't read it. I think what I have wriiten has importance and can be appreciated as it shows a way out for many people who are addicted to NB. People don't say that they are addicted to NB openly because it is considered shameful. I have seen many people sugarcoat thier addiction with jokes and indirect analogies. I think it is time we all be open about it, get it off our chest and fight it. My direct confession will give others the hope to openly confess thier addiction also. The proof of this lies in this very thread where Akash has said that he is addicted to NB.

So my addiction post has a two fold value : It makes you accept your addiction and it gives you a way out of the addiction. My post is also a beacon for those who suffer from various addictions and want a way out. If I can openly confess my addiction and overcome it, and it is in clear view of others, why can't they do the same ? The answer : Yes they can.

100 is a good number in small forum, if they are all in one section and mostly talking about single thing. NB is like a big city members are spread over hear and there. 100 people in a town is small population, it fits for a village. They should trash some sections and make forum compact and make whoever still comes to the site because they cant let there habit go indulge in interesting stuff.

:| Have a KitKcat. :p

A lot of efforts have been put in to create this site and to keep it afloat. Let's hope it can keep being a nice and cozy internet corner for those of us who like to spend some time here and those who will like to join us in future.

The most crowd fetching manga we had ended and the sequel is monthly and probably will be shorter- I don't see a 15 year long run for it. So even the die hard fans who come here for just that one manga were bound to leave ( and will leave again) unless they find something of interest in other sections like RP or MAC etc.

But those who like to read other mangas too and want to join the discussions regarding it, will stay around.

Merging sections may give a sense of more users if you are logged in and looking at the names in that section, but each individual won't be participating more or in all the threads. They will be searching for the topics that interest them.

Separate sections have another use too since they help in getting more guest visitors by providing better visibility. Basically it's an administrative decision which V will take as it suits him and when he has time to work on it. NB is one of his many hobbies besides his actual job.

But Sam, I don't wanna read a wall of text. Unless it's interesting. I wanna have fun here.

This answers your point.:)

I think what I have wriiten has importance and can be appreciated as it shows a way out for many people who are addicted to NB.
But your thread was never about addiction in the first place. You're trying to bring hope to the addicts rather than trying to nullify it. Yes I consider your addiction post more useful to the addicts than your thread. :)

People don't say that they are addicted to NB openly because it is considered shameful.
If this situation is in real life yes I would be ashamed to say that. Stop seeing forums in reality perspective or compare them to reality. :).
Yes I can openly say I'm addicted to ***,money and NB. Do you think this statement affects my real life? Do you think that people care what I said here? :yeah:

I sense some Sausage in here. :lol

Like I said this thread was never about addiction in the first place bro. He replied to your addiction post not to your thread :lol

Your wall of texts for every small replies makes me feel that you like to waste your time here which seems like an addiction to me. Please do write in a short and effective way so others feel comfortable reading it.:pkun:

The point is that I don't see anything effective or useful here in your thread. I just feel you are wasting your time writing a wall of useless text rather than doing something productive. I'm not being rude but what I said might help you to overcome your addiction more effectively. :)

His thread and his reply to your post had nothing to do with Suggestion(not in OP intention) Suggesting something meaningful to NB and its community not in his agenda at all but to tells people about how NB falls into stagnation right now from his own perspective.

And his post about his addiction mainly circulated inside NB(NB related matter) and not real life like you think here. He never said NB effect his normal life but how he became addicted to NB site where it hard for him to leave this site for good and how to cure it.

Your post here bring nothing new nor solving his problem bcus you failed to understand his problem or objective of this thread. Maybe bcus you're new here.

I tell you in simple way. I will not entertain any comment that sound like an ignorant.
