Personally, I like this tag. ignoring all the elements which I would normally use to make a good tag, I really do love this one. It's got really great contrast between his skin and his wings, there's an aweosme block background texture which looks very nice, and text is positioned very nicely. Although I feel like you've tried to make the focal point the bottom of the wing on the right side, so if the text was positioned there instead, or you tried to make the focal point Charizard's face or right shoulder, it would be a very nice piece. The background really isn't needed though, so just losing that would improve the tag by a lot.
As for the avatar, it's not very great. You've tried using the same technique, and it didn't work out. The stock for it is also quite low quality as well, so you'd want to change that as well.
