There are quite a lot of characters who I would like to write about but for now I'm just going to write only a few characters who had potential since the start of the series but were thrown to the side. NOTE: If this begins to sound like a rant, I do apologise.

Hanabi:

I will start with Hanabi. Yes, Hanabi. Hinata's little sister. Now if I walked up to you in the middle of street and had a conversation with you about Naruto and I mentioned Hinata's little sister, the most likely response would be 'She has a sister? Well f***'. During their youths, she beat Hinata on numerous occasions. That must mean that she must at least be somewhat strong. I would personally like to know more about Naruto's future sister-in-law. Even Neji couldn't remember her damn name:

Genma:

Arguably one of the coolest looking Jonins introduced in Part 1. His character design to me looked very unique and he bore a serious and calm attitude when dealing with Kabuto alongside Kakashi. In Part 2, it seems like the only thing he can do is spit out a senbon.

Anko:

Kishi stated that she was his favourite female character due to her 'relationship with Orochimaru'. Now that looks like such a lie. Anko had quite a serious, mysterious but fun-loving nature in part 1 and had a unique design, but like the others, is hardly ever heard from in Part 2. She was even absent for the Pain invasion.

Kurenai:

Said to have genjutsu skills that even rival Itachi's, gets surpassed by 20+ people just by falling pregnant. Dat Kishimoto.

Shizune:

She's most likely the best developed character in this section but still not developed well enough. 85% of the series, I forgot that she was Dan's niece. Tsunade takes her in as her student for 10+ plus, Sakura is her student for 2 years and is her star pupil. Wow. Depressing.

Ebisu:

Picture: self explanatory.

The only one that had potential was Hanabi the rest didn't really have anything to offer.

Kurenai. yeah..... she should have knock boots with itachi instead bet ya there would be threads non-stop with kurenai being the solo queen.

Shizune.. even sakura can whoop her ass man thats sad. the top thing she ever did was save ton ton(possibly future FV) from being BBQ :I also she may the girl whom you can give 20 dollars so she can... moving on

Ebisu.. yeah he is a downgraded jiraiya to bring up the seventh hokage lol

Hanabi was weak. She would get fodderized by current Hinata.
Kurenai isn't good. Her Genjutsu was countered easily by Itachi.
Shizune is an office girl. She only knows poison jutsu's and if they don't hit, she lost the game. But she is good looking in that pic.
Ebisu doesn't know anything but basics. He would fight a tie with a Chuunin-ranked member, even though he's Jounin.
Genma got fodderized by Hidden Sound ninjas. Even though they were strong, genin guys beated them in death. But he fodderizes Sasuke.

Hanabi » Potential
Genma » No potential
Anko » No potential
Kurenai » Not sure
Shizune » Potential
Ebisu » No potential

This is my personal opinion.

Hanabi was weak but beat Hinata every time despite being a couple years younger? ok. Also we have no idea of the training she received but it was more than Hinata since her dad was actually teaching her the clans techniques, Hinata only had Neji to help her train.
So because her genjutsu was broken by one of the stronger genjutsu in the manga she isn't good? Where do you come up with this garbage?
Shizune I'll give you not really much potential.
Ebisu was a bodyguard to a Hokage and placed with the responsibility of raising another. :nosebleed:

OT: Most of k11 until they got rid of the need for ninja tools then all of k11 except tenten

Very very good list, I was expecting something like: Lee, Neji, Shino, etc.

Hanabi felt like she was supposed to become very strong, far exceeding neji... but she never got developed.
Genma does techiniaclly help out with FTG doesn't he?
Kurenai I fully agree, she was one of the only 'normal' genjutsu users, which is messed up when it's considered one of the three ninja techniques.

No, but she has faded just in general. She looked like someone who would even give Kakashi a run for his money but now she has just been lost in the background.

I agree she faded but the guy said because Itachi easily broke her genjutsu she wasn't good and disagreed with the op about showing potential. even you admit she had potential, if I remember right she was said to be one of the best Genjutsu users left in the leaf.

I think other characters could of been developed more, and are far more interesting then some we have now.

Anko, for starters. She was the student of a Sannin! She should and could have been so much more, Anko could even have fit in, in the skirmishes that Team 7 had with Orochimaru at the start of Shipuuden! Just a wasted character here.

Lee, Neji, Tenten, Shino; They all got.. Very little or nothing. Team Gai, aside from their sensei, was hardly touched on. And Shino... When did Shino ever get anything important? He got a few chapters, collectively, in part 1. And maybe half a chapter in part two of panel time. Neji would have made Hinata more interesting, I'm sure. If there were some arc for them, or some Hyuuga development moment. Instead she's a dumb and bland *****. Oh, a stalking ******.

Tenten... Meeh... It woulda been cool to see her fight with Suigetsu and recognize the blades. OR, if in the shinobi war SHE was in the division that was attacked by the Seven Swordsmen and she was able to tell the division their weapons, weaknesses, powers. And help disarm and seal them that way. Weapon Master should know that stuff!
