Chapter 3
Siege

Jack didn?t look back while directing himself to town he wanted to get there as soon as possible. The cub was relatively small, about the size of Jack?s forearm and its height was the same as a normal wolf cub, but it was heavier than it looked, this didn?t bother Jack he held the cub in his right arm without showing the slightest difficulty.

Jack didn?t know why the cub didn?t attack him, it would be normal and Jack would feel no hatred towards the animal. Jack?s arm suddenly started to hurt, as if he was hit by a rock. He looked towards it and noticed that his veins started to show, his hands started trembling . He then looked back, at the body of the Fenrir, it wasn?t being lifted anymore, it was being dragged leaving a wider trail of blood and staining its fur. Jack tried lifting the Fenrir back in the air, it wasn?t being lifted by the slightest distance. Jack closed his eyes tightly and let out a small groan of pain. Jack opened his eyes and saw that the Fenrir?s body was back in the air and the pain in Jack?s arm disappeared .

Jack noticed that Garth and Eoth?ld weren?t following he looked forwards and saw his father and Elrvan. He walked towards them, cub in the hand and the beast following lifted by an invisible force. As soon as he reached them he let the Fenrir go, making the beast drop to the ground with a loud thud.

?Found any more bodies?` asked Jack flexing his arm.

?No, just found two wolves, both of them were devoured savagely` said Jack?s father, ?Thanks god you?re fine Jack` he said again, and this time he walked towards Jack, a smile in his face, prepared to give him a hug, but as soon as he saw the cub in Jack?s hands he stopped and looked at Jack, his smile disappeared and his face looked stern, ?What is that Jack?`

?It?s the Fenrir?s cub` said Jack looking straight into his father?s eyes.

?You have to kill it Jack` said Jack?s father.

?I don?t have to!` said Jack furiously, ?And I am not going to!`

?You are going to do as I say, you hear me!` said Jack?s father furiously.

?I AM NOT GOING TO KILL IT!` said Jack angrily, it was the first time he had ever raised up his voice to his dad.

Jack?s father raised his hand, but Elrand grabbed it. Elrand hadn?t said a word since Jack saw him; he just was starring at the cub, which was starring back at him.

?Leave the kid be Reldhon,` said Elrand, he was the only person in the whole town to call the king by his name, ?I have to inspect the cub anyways, it’s a good thing Jack didn?t kill it.`

Jack lifted the Fenrir?s body with psynergy again by flicking his wrist and started walking forwards, ?You don?t have to take that yourself to town` said Elrand.

?I actually must take it by myself, I killed it after all` said Jack and he kept on walking forwards, and as he passed by Elrand he muttered, ?thanks` as he knew that Elrond said that he had to inspect the cub to get Jack out of trouble. Elrond could tell anything about a beast by just looking at it.

When Jack reached town people started crowding around him, as it was quite a scene to see a Fenrir. It was a creature that had never seen in Iellrd?n, as a matter of fact, a Fenrir hadn?t been sighted by a human village in the last five years. People started muttering loudly around Jack, while he walked past them without even showing the minimum attention to the villagers.

All of a sudden a man jumped in front of Jack with a sword in his hands which were trembling. The man was looking at the cub with hatred and anger, ready to kill it.

?That thing` said the man pointing at the dead Fenrir, ?killed my son, and that` he pointed at the cub in Jack?s hands, ?will do the same to all of us if we let it live`

Jack dropped the Fenrir in the ground, gripped the hilt of his sheathed sword with his left hand while holding the cub tightly in his right, ?put the sword down` said Jack

?THAT THING KILLED MY SON!` shouted the man angrily

?And now its dead!` said Jack raising his voice a little, ?and anyways your son isn?t dead he?s injured!`

?What does it matter?!` said the man with a insane smile in his face, ?My son want be able to use his left arm again!`

?At least he lives` said Jack, ?Isn?t that enough to you?`

?MY SON IS USELESS NOW!` shouted the man again

?So you see your son as a tool?` asked Jack with an angry smile in his face

?No!` the man seemed to regain control of himself, ?I didn?t mean… that thing your holding will end up hurting and killing people of this town`

?I?ll give you my word that it won?t` said Jack nodding towards him, ?now please drop the sword`

The man didn?t move, he just shook his head. Jack looked upwards and quickly drew his sword, ?DROP THE SWORD!` he shouted angrily. The man looked at Jack, there wasn?t anger in his eyes, there was fear, and then Jack muttered ?please`, the man looked to the floor and dropped his sword. Jack sheathed his sword and gave a breath of relief, he lifted the Fenrir back into the air, and kept on walking forwards. As he passed by the man that confronted him, he patted his back.

Jack stopped in a building that had a sing that said “The Big Hammer”, it was the blacksmith and school of town and at the same time, it was the home of Elrand. Jack was given a spare key by Elrand at the age of twelve and he always carried it in his pocket. Jack opened both doors to fit the Fenrir in, and as he entered he muttered ?Flory?rd` pointing his right wrist to a candle, which was lit inmediatly.

Jack dropped the Fenrir in the middle of the house, and he sat in a chair while taking a look around the house. It was messy, as always, there were books all over the place, hammer?s and swords in the floor and there was dust in the corners. Elrand normally cleaned it up before he gave lessons to every child in town, as he was the only one that could actually give them good knowledge. He then looked at the cub and noticed that it had fallen asleep, and Jack smiled. Jack put him in floor and covered him with a blanket. Jack sat in the chair again, closed his eyes and passed his hands threw his hair, and started thinking of what would happen to the cub.

?I see the cub is asleep` said Elrand entering the house and Jack quickly opened his eyes and got up from the chair.

Jack looked towards it and nodded, and the turned his head towards Elrand again ?Where?s dad?` asked Jack.

?He?s gone back to the castle` said Elrand and he went and patted the cub in the head, ?said he needed to relax`

Jack and Elrand heard the door open so they both turned their eyes to the door. Elrond and Garth had entered, both of them not looking very happy, holding their sheathed swords in their hands.

?So… are you keeping the cub?` asked Eoth?ld.

?Its not going to get killed if that?s what you mean` replied Jack without looking at him, ?And I don?t think dad would be very keen to keep this as a pet`

?Oh… well… how do you feel?` asked Eoth?ld looking relieved

?How would you feel if you killed the mother of a child?` asked Jack and Eoth?ld didn?t answer, ?Well, I can say it doesn?t feel great` said Jack with a cold smile.

?You had to` said Garth, ?I mean it had tried killing you, and immobilizing it wouldn?t have been very helpful, it had to be done`

Jack didn?t answer, he just looked at the cub for several minutes with a sad face, ?I better get going` said Jack starting to walk towards the door

?Stay for supper` said Elrand, ?your dad won?t mind, I will send a message to him`

?No, it?s really not…` Jack stopped half-way through as Elrand had wrote the message and sent it to the castle using magic.

?Well… do something while I cook` said Elrand and saw that all three of them didn?t look really happy, ? or… just… be quiet` and he directed himself to another part of the house going threw a door which wasn?t far away from the cub.

The three of them didn?t speak much at the start, they all just starred at the cub which was fast asleep. After a few minutes Jack started speaking about their childhood, and the other two joined as well. They kept on making fun in how Jack and Garth were just seven year olds when Eoth?ld was thirty and he always was with them, his excuse was that Elrand said that he was to protect them. It had been hours since they started talking, the sun had disappeared, and the full moon was visible in the dark sky in which no clouds were sighted, Elrand must have been making a lot of food as he normally didn?t take this long. There was laughter in the room while Elrand spent his time in the kitchen, but then Eoth?ld got up and Elrand?s head popped out from the door his face stern.

?Did you hear that?` he asked to Eoth?ld

?Yes…` Eoth?ld walked towards the wooden window, he opened it and started looking at the street.

?For god?s sake!` said Garth, ?You elves and your stupidly enhanced ears` Jack smiled but Elrand remained serious, and Jack and Garth didn?t know Eoth?ld?s facial expression, as his face wasn?t visible.

?What is it?` asked Jack while Garth and himself were getting up from their seats.

?I seriously don’t…` Eoth?ld moved back quickly and fell to floor at the same moment as an axe had carved itself in the wooden window.

Eoth?ld quickly got up, grabbed the axe and launched it towards his left he then close the window and muttered something making the piece of wood that the axe had broken regenerate, making the window full again.

?What the hell was that?!` asked Garth

?It was an…` Eoth?ld was interrupted by the sound of a bell, a bell that was heard in all the town, the bell that was only sounded when Iellrd?n was under attack. They were under siege.

What will happen to Iellrd?n, and to its villagers?
