"genin level jutsu" could be a mistranslation but even if's the correct term, Shojoji was already at heavy wounded state to the point he can't even use wind barrier... Its neither a Mistranslation nor 'Correct term'. It just Shojoji basing the Jutsu on the level of Boruto and not on the level of Jutsu. I doubt he know all jutsu level like a well knowledgeable person.

Shojoji brushes off the fodders damage and refers to the mark as being what scared him. Anyway I'm still waiting for the scan where he's panting and an inch from collapsing. On other words where are the shakes, body shaking if your confused. Oh wait there aren't any so he's not barely standing is he or about to collapse or an inch from it.

According to the official VIZ translation, Shojoji was smiling and laughing because Boruto was able to put a huge blow on him and Shojoji was complementing his "unbelievable jutsu" for a genin. Which is why his sinister action wanted to eat boruto even more due to how much harm his jutsu did to him.
After his evil sinister smile, he reverted back to panting with "huff".

I've already read it this seems more sensible however is like verification it is a Viz translation. Anyway Sarada still confims they save Boruto in the nick of time. Boruto confirms he's more like Sasuke then first thought he believes in acquiring things through your own strength.
Anyway need verification on the chapter I was going to post a scan to show what panting looms like from gaiden until I read the new translation. Here it is from gaiden.
