Hi everyone, just read this week?s Naruto chapter. The trend continues from last week where we see more of Naruto training himself mentally to defeat his evil self, and again there is no action scenes to spice things up.
However I found this week?s chapter a little better than that week?s, partly because it I was expecting more of the same so my expectations weren?t high to begin with, but it also had to do with some of KB?s lines used in this chapter.

Alright, I couldn?t find that much to really dig into this chapter so I?ll spare everyone my long rants and just give my initial impressions. Sappy.
I think everyone knows what I?m talking about, right? Naruto is well known for defeating even his most hardened foes with words and the power of friendship, but he defeated his evil self so quickly and with no resistance that it felt kind of superficial.
To top it off, the final blow is a hug? really? A hug? I really hope Naruto will not think of using this same tactic on Sasuke, that guy is strictly unhuggable ? the very attempt of which will almost certainly end in the loss of one or multiple limbs.
There wasn?t really any doubt Naruto will defeat his evil self there with his friendship speech, but I still think it was too fast and too easy of a solution. In my mind, Naruto has been festering this hate within himself since he was born. Being treated like a monster by the entire village leaves scars on a young child, deep scars? so you?d think overcoming that level of hate and anger would take a little more than a chat n? hug.
Well, the positive side of having Naruto defeat his other self so quickly is that we?re moving straight into the next phase of Naruto?s training ? going toe to toe with the Kyuubi.
Man, just the thought of that gives me goosebumps. I can understand now why Kishi rushed through the last few chapters; we?re finally getting to the cream of the story.

I really don?t have much else to comment on with the rest of this chapter. Yamoto pretty much spelled out word for word my exact thoughts on how I want Naruto and KB?s relationship to turn out: become friends and allies, learn cool powers, but please don?t let Naruto start rapping! The translators have been trying their hardest to give KB?s rhymes some meaning, but it usually just turns out weird.
But I expect the original rap in Japanese was just as lame, so nothing gained or lost in the end. Only one of KB?s lines in this chapter actually had me crack up: page 15 of ***********?s scanlation.
I?m pretty sure Shonen Jump wouldn?t allow something like ?mothaf?ka? in their magazine, so it?s really the translators having a little fun here or maybe it was just easier to go gansta than think up of more lame rhymes.
Whatever the case, KB?s character is getting more and more interesting in my eyes. I used to think he was just a super powered prick who only cared about entertaining himself, but he?s turned out to be the complete opposite.

Next week I think the real fun will begin as Naruto will have to take on the Nine Tails in order to gain control of it.
KB will certainly offer Naruto advice, but I think in the end it will come down to Naruto himself to take down the Kyuubi.
From the weird architecture behind the waterfall, my guess is this test will be similar to the first in that it will be a test of will as well as strength.
Any further guessing at what will happen next week is pure speculation so I?ll leave it at that and see you guys next time

Hey guys, the week of waiting is over and we?re finally onto chapter 496 where Naruto begins his showdown with the big bad fox.
I breathed a sigh of relief this chapter because things are finally picking up after what I perceived as the mishandling of the evil Naruto face-off and Motoi?s somewhat lame back story.
I also liked that Kishi has also been kicking it up a notch with the funnies, even in these serious situations.
This week?s gag with the headhless Naruto bit really had me chuckling, I hope to see Yamato get punked more in the future, lol.

If you thought Killer Bee?s language was bad last chapter, the translator (of ***********) really went all out in this chapter.
Not that I?m complaining, I really like this Samuel L Jackson take on KB?s personality; but at the same time, I got to wonder how much tamer the original Japanese version is.
Naruto?s gag this week was pretty hilarious. It really brought back memories of the younger Naruto of the past and reminds us that even though he has matured a lot since then, some of his prankster nature will always be here to stay.
Some might argue that having these funny episodes during such an important time in Naruto?s training takes away from the seriousness of the situation, but I say it only proves how brave and determined Naruto is because it takes courage to still smile and laugh while staring death straight in the eye.

Oh, and for the curious, those headless statues I think are based off of similar Buddha statues found in temples at places like Sri Lanka. They?re headless because looters and the like hacked them off to sell on the black market since it?s too heavy to steal the entire statue.

It seems like a lot of popular shonen manga these days have featured something similar to DBZ?s hyperbolic time chamber, and Naruto is no exception.
The temple behind the waterfall looks very ancient, and according to KB, it seems to have been constructed specifically to training Jinchuuriki. It?s essentially a huge Bijuu vault that allows a host to confront the tailed beast but has the safety feature of sealing the beast inside the temple if the host fails to control the beast.
I would be really impressed if it turned out Kumogakure built the temple specifically to tame tailed beasts after when the First Hokage sealed and distributed the Bijuu amongst the major villages.

But the ancient construction and aged look of the whole place makes me think that the temple existed before that period.
To think that Kumogakure to have such a facility at its disposal for so long really puts into perspective how much of an advantage they had over the other villages over the years.
Think about it, they essentially had the ability to make as many attempts to create Jinchuuriki as they can in relative safety, so long as they can recapture the Bijuu whenever it overpowered its current host. In comparison, other villages like Konoha and Suna had to rely on more time-consuming, primitive and dangerous methods like sealing their Bijuu into newborns or a developing fetus in order to have any success at containing the tailed beast in a host.

umo on the other hand, can hand pick and train their host candidate each time and easily replace them if they fail. It makes me wonder why Konoha, which was founded by the man who could tame the Bijuu, did not create a similar if not better facility for themselves.

Naruto?s battle for dominance against the Kyuubi was quite a sight to see, but I was expecting a little more build up before we got to this point.
As I see it, this is one of the more important battles in Naruto?s life and something us readers have been anxious to see for a long time. That said, I was expecting Kishi to really to built up the tension and maybe throw down a really dramatic cliffhanger before we got to the meat of the battle.

Speaking of meat, kisuzachi mentioned in the comments that Kyuubi looks like he put on a little weight in this chapter, and I tend to agree.
I guess being stuck in a cage inside a boy who eats greasy ramen all the time would make anyone put on the pounds, even a Bijuu, but I can?t help but think it makes the Nine-Tails a lot less intimating than we?ve seen him in the past.
It also has to do with the way Kishi depicted Kyuubi in this chapter ? we?re used to seeing close-ups of Kyuubi?s eyes and snarling teeth, but seeing his whole body drawn like this makes him more like a big, furry, grouchy and overweight fox.

I have every confidence that Naruto will succeed in taming the Kyuubi, or at least coming to some kind of compromise, especially with KB literally helping him out along the way. But after all the fighting is done and Kyuubi becomes an ally, Naruto really needs to put that fox on a diet

My Chap.499 Comments [In 3 parts] -- Ok Chaos FC here goes:

(1) I agree to what some of you has correctly pointed out that Naruto took all the Kyuubi's chakra, and what remained was only the will of the Kyuubi which obviously cannot be Naruto's, and still goes contrary to Naruto since the Kyuubi's will is pure hatred (or still governed by pure hatred, in contrast to the Hachibi, which has been already 'tamed' and converted by Bee).

There is no indication in what Bee has explained about the process of controlling the demon spirit, and from the reaction from Kushina as well as Naruto's transfiguration as the Sage of the Six paths, that Naruto will not and has not taken all of the Kyuubi's chakra.

Naruto has to reseal the Kyuubi because the Kyuubi remains 'untamed' and is the pure spirit of hatred that it is. And since it's Kyuubi's nature, it also remains susceptible to Madara's MS, which seems to have special controlling/manipulative powers over the hatred not only of other people's hatred but also of demons'/spirits' hatred, e.g., itachi, sasuke, and the Kyuubi.

Surely it is also pure love that totally defeats pure hatred such as the Kyuubi's. But since love does not impinge on the will of others, it can ONLY HAVE the power to suppress it totally, sealing it decisively and with full authority. So in other words, Naruto has owned the Kyuubi. It has become powerless over him, and unless it considers Naruto as its new boss or as its true friend by way of conversion (just as the Hachibi said in its testimony about how it was so evil before Bee showed it the Way) there is no way it can break the seal, since it is a seal/bond of pure love.

Cont'd... (2) And now since I have talked about the seal, which was described by the Kyuubi as 'belonging' to the Sage of the 6 Paths, I will now comment on the Sot6P and Naruto. I believe that it was a transfiguration. Naruto has truly become a full fledged Sage, and one of the greatest. He may not be equal to the original but he sure is one right now. What made him so was I believe was not only the chakra of the Kyuubi that he has acquired but Naruto's level of enlightenment.

It is his attaining true peace inside him ('I feel super relaxed') from out of experiencing true/pure love through both his mother and father (who both sacrificed themselves in love and service to others, and most esp. to their son), the kind of love that sacrifices and transcends the Self, and therefore, all darkness and hatred that is associated with self-ishness and pride.

From out of this experience of true peace and love (note or compare&contrast: Nagato's 'wisdom of pain'), Naruto has indeed become the Destined Child, a 'reincarnation' of the Sage of the Six Paths, and he will fulfill the destiny/mission of transforming/transfiguring not only himself but the world.

Whether Naruto demonstrated the characteristics of the Sot6P because he was a descendant of the Sage himself or the Senju's first ancestor, the 'younger' son of the Sage, or he awakened that gene because of attaining superiority over the strongest bijuu, which is another one of the characteristics of the Sot6P, we can't precisely say as of this time, as this would be in the realm of science.

In this event, surely spirituality takes precedence over science. Naruto has become the 'new' Sage of the Six Paths, sans the Rin'negan, (which incidentally awaits a new owner via transplant: and it's either Madara, Sasuke, or Naruto shall have it).

Lastly: (3) This part proves to be the most difficult. Primarily because there are so many unknowns. So we start with what we know.

We know Kushina has already died. And we know this because she was a former host of the Kyuubi, and the Kyuubi attacked Konoha 16 years ago, and afterwards, it has a new host. There was no previous record of a jinchuuriki who survived an extraction or the separation from her/her bijuu (until Gaara almost recently), so we assume Kushina died because she ceased to be its host.

How did she lose the Kyuubi? Did she die because she lost the Kyuubi or was it because of child-birth? These are the essential questions.

It has been clear that Kushina wasn't mentioned to be one of the few people who can control bijuus (Only Bee, Madara, and the former mizukage 3-tailed jinchuuriki Yagura were mentioned; and we still don't know the relationship between the last two). So Kushina was still susceptible to Madara's control since the Kyuubi's nature (of pure hatred) has not yet been tamed yet (and not even as of recently).

We don't exactly know how Kushina was manipulated by Madara so she would go full 9-tails transformation and so wreak havoc on Konoha. It may be similar to how he controlled/manipulated Yagura (that's probably why Kisame calls Madara the Mizukage), or how he manipulated Sasuke. Being the Bloody Habanero, Kushina must have a lot of hatred, too; having experienced also the agony and the persecution of being a jinchuuriki (remember Gaara's story). So I say Kushina was also susceptible to Madara's powers, that is, esp. if she goes full 9-tails (That's why Minato made a fail-safe mechanism to stop Naruto becoming full 9-tails transformation; and that's why Naruto also sealed the Kyuubi even after he stole all its chakra).

Why or how Kushina went full 9tails we still don't know. But I don't think it was a blotched attempt on the side of Konoha and Minato at trying to gain full control of it, especially at a time right after the jinchuuriki has just given birth or was about to give birth. That would not only be ridiculous but also suicidal.

Nobody has mentioned before about any previous hosts of the Kyuubi so we don't know if it was common knowledge that Kushina was one. I am inclined to think that it was top secret; that's why the frog key seem not know nor did Jiraiya; they argued that either it was in intentional summoning or a natural occurrence. Also, nobody told us that she was the previous host, until she herself told us recently.

Maybe Kushina was chosen to be its host because of her kekkai genkai ability of suppressing/controlling demon spirits, which is extremely rare and curiously the only one akin to the Shodai's abilities, so I was thinking also that she was chosen probably also because of her lineage and that's why it was considerably easy moving her to Konoha. So much is unknown.

But I am more inclined to think that it was Madara who attempted to get his bloody hands again on the Kyuubi, once he learned that she was the Kyuubi jinchuuriki (and that she was also Shodai's descendant). A spy/insider from Konoha must have told him.

Or he might have already known from the start, after the Shodai defeated him, where he disposed the Kyuubi afterwards. So it's also probable that Madara was able to somehow manipulate the decision to move Kushina to Konoha, because that would make her a walking time bomb in his most loathed former village. It was only a matter of time when he would launch his attempt at taking Kushina and taking back his pet. And that time was just about the time when she was giving birth.

I don't know precisely why but i think it makes good and sensational (either of the two) storytelling to situate it at this time. Maybe Kushina was weak and/or dying because of childbirth, that is also possible; and when she dies, the Kyuubi will be released from its 'prison'.

Minato, however, unanimously identified the masked man of Akatsuki, i.e., Madara, who wa behind the attack of the Kyuubi on Konoha; so this backs up Jiraiya's theory that it was 'intentionally summoned'.

It was probable that Madara abducted and tried to kill the weakened Kushina, after her child-birth, so to extract/release the bijuu; or that Kushina did not have a second-seal (inside her to separate the Kyuubi's yin and yang chakra, or any fail-safe measure to prevent her from getting 9-tails) so Madara could summon the Kyuubi out of her, and thereby, killing her in the process (this could be the cause of Yagura's death also.)

I don't think the bijuu dies with the jinchuuriki, otherwise, any of the bijuus could have been disposed of easily and forever lost. The jinchuuriki just have to die or be killed and the bijuu dies too. But we know all nine bijuus are all accounted for.

History tells us that villages has been frantic about having them sealed, both as a weapon and as a security measure. It is far too dangerous having the bijuus out in the open. So for two reasons:(1) because of the cost of lives and property that it will destroy, and also (2) because no village would want enemy villages to steal/possess a bijuu.

Moreover, if the sage of the six paths really wanted peace and as he was already dying and unable to control/suppress it, then why bother dividing it into 9 parts and sealing its original body to the moon? Why did he not allow the Bijuu to die with him? That goes the same for the Shodai, why bother to dispose and share the bijuus among the villages? Why not simply seal it in himself and die, thereby disposing the Kyuubi for good? So this is why I think the bijuu gets released into the 'wild' when the jinchuuriki dies.

Summary:
So how come Madara was able to summon the Kyuubi while Kushina was its jinchuuriki?

Two possibilities:

(1) Kushina was manipulated/controlled to go full 9-tails transformation in order to be susceptible to control by Madara. So Madara only need to summon the Kyuubi inside of her. This makes it difficult for Konoha/Minato to fight the Kyuubi since they may kill the host (Kushina) who is one of their own, who is his (Minato's) own wife. Moreover, she is with child.

(2) Kushina was abducted, and killed; thereby releasing the Kyuubi into the wild. So Madara only need to summon it and control it to attack Konoha.

Madara mentioned having encountered Danzo at the event of the Kyuubi's attack 16 years ago, so we wonder if the two were related at all, but we know Danzo was Orochimaru's contact/ally in Konoha, so it's not farfetched that Danzo and Tobi, being an Akatsuki spy/minion would encounter each other.

But there is indication that Danzo may have known Madara already as he is at that time, so that's also how or why Itachi got connected with him, through/because of Danzo. So I'm thinking Danzo was also there during the event. Madara has pointed out that Danzo was also after the Kyuubi (due to his quest to become the ultimate ninja also, or in order to fight against Madara and defend Konoha against him). I was thinking Danzo has participation also in the attack of the Kyuubi in Konoha, or at least, how Madara was able to get hold of Kushina and summon the Kyuubi from out of her.

Sorry i don't have clear theories as of now, I just pointed out some probable scenarios and their causes and effects. As I have said, much more remains unknown and unclear. And this is precisely the reason why we wait for two weeks in great anticipation of the answers revealed in chapter 500. :D

nine tails appear wreaking havoc on the village, caught in the middle are the people along with the pregnant tomatohead minato fights the ninetails and figures that the only way to defeat it is to seal it, kushina voluntered to contain the nine tails knowing that she is the only one who has the special chakra to subdue the beast, minato seals the beast into the tomato head, and just when everything seems to be over, the unexpected/expected happens kushina is about to give birth, being exhausted from the battle knows she might not survive hence to save the village, minato and kushina decided to seal half of the 9 tails into naruto. there my theory

regarding the sage of the six paths, i think naruto will complete the body and sasuke will complete the eyes, and its the destiny of the two to fight and the victor will have the complete sage of the six path and that is the goal of tobimadara to take the complete sage as his own and to furthur complete the process is to combine all the beast and seal unto itself. and there the ultimate sage of the six paths with the jubi. a god.

How was Madara able to know the top secrets of Konoha?

How Madara knew the top secret giving birth of Naruto by the jinchuuriki was because of an insider, a spy for Madara. Who is this insider/spy who is closely connected with the third and the elders?

I was thinking about a Danzo-Madara connection for quite a long time already.

While at the time of the birth of Naruto Danzo doesn't have yet Shisui's Sharingan to be able to mind control Madara, but it is possible instead that it was Madara who had the power of mind control even at this time. Madara could have gotten Danzo, manipulating him through his darkness and hate, ambition and greed, to work on his side.

The only one thing that is stopping me from totally believing my theory is the way Danzo and Madara fought in the recent chapters (chaps.474-75). There was not a word war, no revelations of ill will or double-cross between the two. Madara was the one who mentioned that the last time they saw each other was around 9 years ago at the Uchiha incident. See: .

Probably the deal went awry, looks like it was Danzo who did not do his part. Since he never mentioned any grudge against Madara. It seems Madara was the one who's actually hinting of Danzo's participation in the Uchiha massacre. Madara seems even surprised that Danzo is fighting him. See: , Madara: So you are going to fight me, eh, Danzo? It seems Madara has underestimated Danzo. He never expected him to have been used by Danzo.

We remember Madara claiming Itachi knew of his existence and sought him out to ask him to help carry out his mission of annihilating the whole clan. We are not sure if this is true, knowing how cunning and a liar Madara is. Probably someone referred Itachi to Madara, just as Sai was sent by Danzo with a deal to the enemy Orochimaru. See: . Basing on the high level of experimentation done by Orochimaru on Danzo, it seems Danzo has great interest in the massacre, himself, he was also collecting Sharingans. Exactly, just like Madara!

So the assassination and/or massacre of the Uchiha benefited these two.

It is not unlikely that they were cohorts at some point, or were two greedy plotters at opposite ends -- with the Uchiha as the innocent/unknowing victims. If the ultimate goal is to gather Sharingans, then the supposed 'coup attempt' must be part of either Madara or Danzo's plans, if it was true at all that Uchiha Fugaku was instigating it. Looks like it was fueled or started by either of these two... or at least they were responsible of sowing the seed of mistrust within the Uchiha of the Hokage/Konoha government and vice versa. It was Danzo who had his eye on the Hokage's throne. I personally did not see any clear guilt or malice yet as to Fugaku's wanting Itachi to be the Uchiha's pipeline to the Hokage. I myself can't believe of any ill will between the Hokage and the Uchiha police. These two must have a direct link to each other, the head of the village and the village's police force.

It's either Danzo or Madara or both that corrupted the two sides in order to instigate a 'civil war'. Itachi was supposed to be the link between the two -the Uchihas and the Hokage- but it think Madara got to him first or Danzo, for sure. Most likely, Shisui was sent to stop or take down Itachi so that Itachi will have to fight and kill Shisui. And with Shisui dead, Danzo will take his eyes. But Madara was betting also that Itachi will and should win the battle, so that Itachi shall have MS. In other words, Shisui has become the sacrificial pawn.

And so with the crime that Itachi has committed, he was brought to a corner. Enough for Madara to make his move, show himself to Itachi, and use his MS to mind control Itachi into hating and then killing his clan (Itachi: why would my best friend try to kill me? Madara's answer: simple, the MS. And the Uchiha's plot of regaining control vs the Konoha government).

Probably it was also Danzo (as the leader of ANBU Root, and Itachi's leader) who brought Itachi to Madara, or made Itachi available to Madara. As i was saying, both Madara and Danzo benefited from the Uchiha incident, it is therefore likely that they were plotting this together.

It was probably when they were dividing their spoils that there was a falling out. What is surprising is that Madara never expected Danzo to have sharingans. See: and he was never expecting Orochimaru to be working with Danzo, which is funny, because the way Orochimaru infiltrated Konoha was also through the ANBU during the Chuunin exam, like how Madara was able to infiltrate the site of the birth of Naruto. Madara should have known better.

Who's got the ANBU compromised? Danzo.

The presence of the ANBU at the site of kushina's childbirth was courtesy of the Third and the elders. It is possible that the ANBU was compromised, some of them may have belonged to the Root, and so as the Roots' leader, Danzo was informed.

Danzo, just as he was the man of Hanzo, the enemy Kage of the Hidden Rain, was also the man of Madara, who was perhaps the enemy Kage of the Hidden Mist. Danzo was Madara's spy. What Madara did not estimate was that Danzo was using him instead.

Realizing this at the moment Madara saw Danzo having Sharingans and the cells of the Shodai, he was then able to conclude: He's after Naruto, too.

Oh there goes the information Kisame will leak on to Madara.

I'm sure some of us would have automatically recognize this 'formula'.

The spy will succeed in his info gathering and reporting, but this shall be at the cost of his life. The scroll shall be delivered with the sender's blood splattered on it, Kisame's last ditch effort at loyalty for his Madara/former Mizukage. Add this last one element: revelations from a flashback, and we shall call it a day with some tea.

And as we are wont to expect, the sharksfin will dine with the blowfish as the gates of hell open. LOL

But not before we see Kisame's real power unfold right in front of our eyes, we'll sure see this great and entertaining character goes out into the night in kick-ass fashion.
