Hello guys, this is a thread which is important only for those who write fan fiction themselves. Today, I got an infraction for "spamming" since I had posted my fan fic to manga section as well. This had as a result the deleting of all my fan fics that I had written there (luckily I have written them here as well). The point of this thread is to let you understand how much your work is downgraded in comparison to how much more your work would have been credited if you were to write in the manga section. In the manga section, my fan fic had almost always more than 2000 views with first one reaching 3500 while in the manga section none of them managed to get over 100! Also, before you jump into conclusions by saying that the views don't make the difference, I have to tell that you're wrong. Because while, in the manga section were passing with ease the 20-30 answers or even more, in the first I got around 60, here for the first one that I got 60 answers and 3500 views plus a lot of reputation at the manga section, here I got 13 answers, 87 views and no reputation.
I'm here to talk with examples. So far, I have written 5 fan fic chapters and I had posted them in both sections. Now, make the comparison.
Do you see the paradox?
Fan fiction is supposed to be the section for those who like reading fan fics but at the end of the day, it's in the manga section that you get credit for your work.A prime example of this is Michael 92 whose chapter 1 which was made 3 years ago has only 2000 views while mine 3500 in just 2-3 months and it didn't have only the views, it had numerous positive comments as well.
Conclusion
The reason why the current system is wrong is because we, the creators don't get acknowledged at all compared to how much we would if we were allowed to post our work in the manga section as well. People in the manga section don't mean that they don't enjoy a fan fic, quite the contrary.
It's all a matter of marketing: The whole labeling of our work is what it destroys it. A lot of people, don't come in this section because to put it simply they don't think "Fan fiction, oh I like that". It's not that they don't like it, it simply doesn't trigger their interest to go search for it. However, when they for example mines at the manga section, the chances of having my work read is extremely higher. I think that the statistics I posted above make it quite obvious.
In case you don't believe make a simple experiment: Post a fan fic that you wrote, only its first chapter and then compare the reactions from the readers to the ones that you had in this section. I'm 110% sure that the results will prove me correct.
Suggestions
I definetely don't say that we don't need a fan section. We need it because it provides order for the fan fiction lovers who wants to read fictional stories. What I'm suggesting is that we have the right to post our fan fics to the manga section as well without being considered off-topic or spamming.
The reasons for that?
Manga section as its title stands for, is for those who read the manga. However, have yu ever seen all the threads that exist there? Many threads are about evaluating a character, others for *****ing, other for theories and others for many other things. So my point is this. Aren't these kind of threads off-topic or aren't they considered spamming since many are about *****ing?
However, none of them is considered like that. So why shouldn't we have the right to post our own work there while it takes us so much time to write them? I don't know about you but I spend 2 hours for each chapter and I don't do it only for my work to be read 5-10 people.
In addition, have you ever thought what huge change this could bring to the fan fic competitions?
I checked last month's result, 44 people voted, only 44! Have you any idea how few is that considering all the effort we spent writting it. I firmly believe that the votes if the competition was to be heald in the manga section would be at least double.
To sum up, I truly believe that we have the right to post our work in the manga section and that we have to claim it.
For this reason I post this poll in which I want all of you to vote and tell me what you think.
Should we or should we not?
