"I'm surprised I haven't done so already, sensei, with all the Jutsu you're teaching me." I pout jokingly, a little disappointed as I move on to the next Jutsu.

One/three advantages (no obvious ones, be creative):

  • 1. Stronger than the Great Fireball technique.
  • 2. It says that the Jutsu is defensive. How would I use a Jutsu like this defensively?
  • 3. No hand seals.
One/three disadvantages (no obvious ones, be creative):

  • 1. Shorter range than the Great Fireball Technique.
  • 2. Smaller than the great fireball technique.
  • 3. As you said, overused, so it might be easy to read and predict if used.
How you would use it in battle: in short range, maybe blast this at my opponent's face. Doesn't seem to be useful for anything else because of its range.

How you would counter it: with the great fireball technique launched multiple times... A higher ranked Jutsu, or move out of range or protect myself with an earth wall technique.

How you perform it (with as much detail as you can): Gathering fire chakra in my mouth (seriously, my mouth was so used to it now), I perform the technique, similar to how I did the great fireball technique. I cup my mouth and focus the flame through a circular shape made with my fingers, and it comes out as a well shaped sphere. It feels more powerful than the Great Fireball, as expected, but it only goes a short distance before dying out.

Good. :p

(Katon: Gōenkyū) - Fire Release: Great Blaze Ball
Rank: B
Type: Offense
Range: Short/Long
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage Points: 40
Description: The user after performing two hand seals Horse → Tiger exhales a meteor-sized sphere of fire that carries the enemy away and causes a massive explosion on impact.

First perform the hand seals, then gather your katon chakra in your mouth. Exhale a meteor-sized sphere of fire that carries your target away. Very good technique, two hand seals, short amount of time to use, powerful technique for a B-rank.

One/three advantages (no obvious ones, be creative):

  • 1. A meteor sized jutsu at B-rank? OP... unless this is a little meteor or something.
  • 2. "massive explosion"... how is that not an advantage?
  • 3. Incredible range.
One/three disadvantages (no obvious ones, be creative):

  • 1. If misused, I might get caught in the explosion...
  • 2. How fast does the meteor move? That is key to understanding its usefulness.
  • 3. I wouldn't use this at short range.
How you would use it in battle: I'd use this after throwing my opponent off guard; maybe hidden behind another jutsu to catch my opponent by surprise.

How you would counter it: Use the same or equivalent jutsu to cancel out the effects. It seems like I'd be screwed if I get caught in this (no escape), so I'd try my best to use a technique that allows me to evade the meteor. Or, I could attempt to destroy the meteor as well.

How you perform it (with as much detail as you can): Performing the hand seals Horse → Tiger , I then exhale a large, meteor-sized fire sphere from my mouth. It's sizable and the heat radiating from it can be felt even a considerable distance away. It flies toward sensei.

Pretty fast, same pace as my fireball techniques.

(Katon: Gōenka) - Fire Release: Great Flame Flower
Rank: B
Type: Attack
Range: Short - Long
Chakra cost: 20
Damage Points: 40
Description: The user jumps in the air and shoots three giant bullets of fire that come down like giant meteors, then erupt into a geyser of flame.

Gather your katon chakra up then jump up into the air, then shot three giant bullets of fire that come down like giant meteors, then erupt into a geyser of flame. Seems like a powerful technique if you pull it off, but the fact that you have to be in the air for the use of this technique is a bummer.

"Hooray! My fireballs are almost as big and fast as sensei's!" I say, not realizing until afterward what I had said. I keep quiet...

One/three advantages (no obvious ones, be creative):

  • 1. The three fireballs can be fired in multiple directions to ensnare and trap an opponent in the geyser.
  • 2. It's like creating three volcanoes of death!
  • 3. As you said, it's very powerful if pulled of correctly.
One/three disadvantages (no obvious ones, be creative):

  • 1. I have to be in the air to use it, making myself vulnerable...
  • 2. Very large and conspicuous Jutsu, so therefore, easily predictable and counterable.
  • 3. Geysers may make it risky to try and land on the ground safely; the battleground would be ablaze.
How you would use it in battle: I'd first ensure that my opponent cannot leave the ground, so maybe try and trap them. Then, I'd also make sure to have a solid footing while I land, so maybe use Earth Release: Mobile Core to create a platform that is safe from the fire geysers.

How you would counter it: I'd maneuver out of the way or try and get up close and personal with the opponent by jumping up into the air as well, since this technique is directed towards the ground.

How you perform it (with as much detail as you can): Gathering Katon chakra, I then take a leap up into the air. I apply shape manipulation to turn the flames into explosive meteor shapes, forming three distinct "blobs" in my mouth. I release the first one, then the second one, and finally, the third one. These meteors strike the ground at different parts, and each erupt into large flame geysers that spew pillars of flame. It was getting hot in here, and it definitely wasn't me...

Good.

(Katon: Haisekishō) - Fire Release: Ash Pile Burning
Rank: B
Type: Offense
Range: Short/Mid
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage Points: 40
Description: The user spews superheated ash from their mouth after performing four handseals. The ash is hot enough to cause third-degree burns on the victim. Because it's composed entirely of ash, it stays in the air around the victim like a cloud. If the user clicks his teeth, the stagnant ash will ignite, creating a violent explosion.

Okay, gather up your katon chakra, while you're doing that perform the four required hand seals, then manipulate your katon chakra to turn into a super heated ash that you will release from your mouth. All you have to do to ignite this is click your teeth together, which is handy and pretty quick, will do big damage to your target if they are inside the ash cloud, but be very careful that you do not get yourself trapped also, so I would advise against doing it at short range from you.

One/three advantages (no obvious ones, be creative):

  • 1. The ash clouds an enemy's vision, and can leave them open.
  • 2. The explosion can be triggered when the opponent least expects it, causing the most damage.
  • 3. High damage, quick, and pretty effective for a B Rank. I remember Asuma using this to great effect vs. Hidan; the Akatsuki member was hurt pretty bad.
One/three disadvantages (no obvious ones, be creative):

  • 1. Very large, conspicuous attack. A particularly aware enemy will see the ash cloud coming from a mile away.
  • 2. 'Meh' range.
  • 3. Like you said, shouldn't be caught in the cloud either. Handseals can be a pain too.
How you would use it in battle: If the opponent is stationery or setting up for a jutsu, I'd try to get within range to be able to use this.

How you would counter it: Maybe use a Fuuton jutsu to blow away the ash cloud. If that wasn't possible, and I were caught in the cloud, I'd quickly respond with an armor jutsu of some sort to ensure I can appropriately tank the attack!

How you perform it (with as much detail as you can): Performing the four hand seals, I then manipulate the Katon chakra in my mouth to form super heated ash in my mouth. I then blow this out, forming a large, billowing cloud in front of myself. I then click my teeth, and it acts as a piece of flint would, igniting the cloud into a large, fiery explosion. It's significantly powerful and I have to cover my face from the sheer heat and shockwaves.

Well done, Ausar.

(Katon: Gōryūka no Jutsu) - Fire Release: Great Dragon Fire Technique
Rank: B
Type: Offense/Supplementary
Range: Short/Long
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage Points: 40
Description: The user fires several large dragon-shaped fireballs at their opponent after performing one handseal. It is able to alter localized weather conditions to the point of making thunder clouds when shot into the air, enabling the user to perform Kirin.

With this, simply perform the seal and gather your chakra in your mouth to release a large amount of dragon shaped fireballs, that you will send towards my clone. Good things about this technique is that, this can be used to get the weather ready for you to perform Kirin, or it can be used to burn your target the range is also another good thing about this technique.

Thank you. I have a good sensei, so that definitely helps :)

One/three advantages (no obvious ones, be creative):

  • 1. The range is pretty awesome.
  • 2. A setup for Kirin; one of the most powerful Lightning Techniques.
  • 3. Very versatile; can be used on its own or as a setup technique.
One/three disadvantages (no obvious ones, be creative):

  • 1. Using it as a setup for Kirin is time consuming and may take more than a turn, leaving the user open.
  • 2. Doesn't work if the weather has already been manipulated; like if it's raining already before I perform the technique.
  • 3. A more experienced opponent may be able to use the weather change against me... like a Rain user. I'd be essentially doing the work for them.
How you would use it in battle: Since I myself do not know Kirin, I'd use this as a basic fire technique to hit my opponent or throw them off. This makes it pretty straightforward jutsu.

How you would counter it: Use a water bullet jutsu if it's used as an offensive technique. If my opponent was setting up Kirin, what I'd do is close the distance between the both of us, so the user would not be able to use Kirin without getting hit by it him/herself.

How you perform it (with as much detail as you can): Performing the required hand seal, I then mold the Katon chakra in my mouth, applying shape transformation to make the fireballs into a shape of dragon heads. I then spit them out in a fierce, consecutive volley towards Sensei's clone. I look on in curiosity to see how Sensei would counter this attack; after all, he was more knowledgeable than myself...

Great!

(Katon: Hōsenka Tsumabeni) - Fire Release: Phoenix Sage Flower Nail Crimson
Rank: B
Type: Offensive
Range: short - Mid
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage points: 40
Description: The user unleashes a volley of shuriken with one hand, while at the same time exhaling fire-infused chakra onto them in order to increase the weapons' destructive potential by making them capable of inflicting severe burns upon direct contact with either the intended victim or any other object caught within their trajectories. Due to the chakra-based nature of the flames that surround them, the shuriken will continue to burn after impact, regardless of the flammability of the object that they ultimately collide with.

First go into your ninja pouch and unleash a volley of shuriken with one of your hands, while doing that gather up your katon chakra in your mouth and exhale the fire chakra onto the shuriken to increase the weapons' power. Good technique since it's one of those, that use both chakra and weapons, I like it.

thinking: Sensei didn't even break a sweat! Did he even counter my previous jutsu? I didn't see it... what a total badass... gosh, is this the power of a sensei?! lol

One/three advantages (no obvious ones, be creative):

  • 1. Sensei, a question. Can I control the level of fire-infused chakra on the shuriken itself? So, for example, if the shuriken was on fire and flying around, could I apply my chakra manipulation to make the flames on the shuriken bigger or "sharper"?
  • 2. Will burn continuously thanks to the properties of the fire itself.
  • 3. The justu's name is totally badass. Ok, but seriously, I think it's pretty straightforward XD
One/three disadvantages (no obvious ones, be creative):

  • 1. the fact that it keeps burning may be a disadvantage. Does it use up chakra per turn?
  • 2. Conspicuous and easy to dodge.
  • 3. Range is only as good as my own inherent skill with the shurikens.
How you would use it in battle: I'd combine this with a wind jutsu (Great Breakthrough, for example), to create a fierce blaze of raining fire shuriken.

How you would counter it: With an appropriate Water/Earth combo to a) stop the shuriken from flaming, and b) prevent the shuriken from hitting me in the first place.

How you perform it (with as much detail as you can):

"Alright, another weapons jutsu!"

I briefly wonder if my new, approved by the higher ups, puppet project had a shuriken cannon built in. If not, I'd have to add that in later... :snick:

I brandish a set of shuriken. I infuse my own Katon chakra into them, being careful not to ignite them just yet. I toss the bundle towards a training log, and while they are flying through the air, I manipulate my chakra to set them ablaze. I never ceased to be impressed by the fact that shinobi were capable of doing such superhuman feats.

The shuriken hit the trunk in various places, and they start burning it to a crisp.

I smirk. "Man... the possibilities..."

To your question: I would think you can, so yes. ^^

Well done.

(Katon: Onidōrō) - Fire Release: Demon Lantern
Rank: B
Type: Offensive
Range: Short - Mid
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage points: 40
Description: After performing the Tiger hand seal the user will manipulate their chakra releasing several fire ghosts that are like heads with horns and yellow eyes that then attack the target/s in a swarm.

Perform the Tiger hand seal, then gather your katon chakra in your mouth then manipulate your katon chakra releasing several fire ghosts that are like heads with horns and yellow eyes that then attack the target/s in a swarm. Swarm based techniques are always good to use, as far as I'm aware the ghosts all go the same direction, I don't think one can go behind the target another one go on the left, one on the right etc, but I am unsure about that.

One/three advantages (no obvious ones, be creative):

  • 1. The ghosts can swarm and overwhelm an enemy easily.
  • 2. They can be used as an intimidation tactic.
  • 3. A question, sensei. Can I use this jutsu to maybe escape from a trap or something? I feel like the ghosts are large enough in number to be able to break open things like earth enclosures, etc.
One/three disadvantages (no obvious ones, be creative):

  • 1. Meh range.
  • 2. As you said, the ghosts seem to go in a single direction and can't be controlled by the user.
  • 3. ...not sure what else is bad about this jutsu, haha
How you would use it in battle: I'd use this as an opener to a battle to try and swarm the opponent. Mostly as a way to set up a follow up attack that follows behind the ghosts.

How you would counter it: Stay out of range, or maneuver out of the way so the unidirectional swarm can't hit me.

How you perform it (with as much detail as you can):

"Sensei, I'm not superstitious, just so you know, haha"

Performing the Tiger hand seal, I manipulate my Katon chakra to form ghost-face like shapes. They form around me in a great number. They have horns protruding from their foreheads.

"This is kinda creepy. Good way to scare the civvies!"

I release the swarm of flaming ghosts. For added effect, I manipulated them to keep their mouths open, revealing a set of fangs and a flaming tongue. They swarm around a nearby target, quickly setting it ablaze.

(Katon: Honoo no Hashira Jutsu) - Fire Release: Flame Pillar Technique
Rank: B
Type: Offensive
Range: Short - Mid
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage points: 40
Description: The user will manipulate their chakra into their chest and then they will release from their mouth a quick burst of flame towards their opponents feet which then errupts into a large pillar of flame reaching 3 meters tall and inflicting damage to the target.

Gather your chakra up in your chest, then manipulate the chakra in your chest, once done that release the fire from your mouth, in a shape of a quick burst of flame towards your targets feet. Erupting into a large pillar. Seems like the pillar can also push the target into the air, as well as burning them. Range isn;t too bad either.

One/three advantages (no obvious ones, be creative):

  • 1. The flame pillar pushes the opponent up, leaving them open for a follow-up attack.
  • 2. Quick and easy to execute; can be shot multiple times to create multiple pillars.
  • 3. B-ranked, no hand seals required, and is generally a quick and effective tool to hurt an enemy.
One/three disadvantages (no obvious ones, be creative):

  • 1. Range isn't bad, but it could be better. Doesn't reach long ranges.
  • 2. Aiming the initial fire burst to hit the opponent is hard considering it probably only moves in a linear trajectory, making it more predictable.
  • 3. The short range version may hurt the user since the pillar is pretty big.
How you would use it in battle: I'd use this to hit my opponent, pushing them up. While they're in the air, I'd follow up with an appropriate wind technique to slash at them while they're in the air! I could also fire this at different angles to throw off my opponent's footing or create multiple fire pillars to trap my opponent inside.

How you would counter it: Just stay out of range. Or, use an Earth Jutsu to create a barrier that tanks the erupting pillar, or obviously, a Suiton technique... maybe a water pillar or some equivalent.

How you perform it (with as much detail as you can):

I gather my chakra in my chest, molding it using nature transformation to take on the properties of fire. I then allow it to flow into my mouth, where it gathers up, and I spit out a small burst of flame, at an angle towards the ground. The flame hits the ground in front of sensei, and it immediately erupts into a large, 3 meter tall flaming pillar. It's blazing hot as the pillar burns for some time.

A question:

1. How long does the pillar burn for? Is it something where it just quickly erupts and goes out, or can the pillar be sustained for a while?

Most likely quickly goes out.

(Katon: Kaen Senpū) - Fire Release: Flame Whirlwind
Rank: B
Type: Offensive
Range: Short - Mid
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage points: 40
Description: After performing the required four handseals Monkey → Bird → Dog → Ram, fire erupts around the user's body and then launches towards the target in a spiraling-manner. The target is then incinerated as the flames erupt upwards.

Perform the seals, and then gather katon chakra all around your body so it erupts fire around your body and then start to a sort of spinning run towards my clone, as soon as the flames get close to my clone, the fire erupts upwards, sending my clone up into the air.

One/three advantages (no obvious ones, be creative):

  • 1. The spinning nature of the technique contributes to the move's speed and momentum!
  • 2. Opponents are launched upwards, leaving them open for a further attack.
  • 3. Seems like a nice way to get a taijutsu user off your back if they're up too close and personal.
One/three disadvantages (no obvious ones, be creative):

  • 1. Hand seals will mess with the time frame... costing the user critical moments in their battle strategy unless they plan their move out correctly.
  • 2. I could potentially get caught in the upwards spiral if I don't release the flames in time.
  • 3. Not long-ranged; misuse is detrimental.
How you would use it in battle: If I hit the opponent with this jutsu, I'd follow up with a wind technique while they're up in the air, for maximum damage. Particularly one that cuts or forms a pillar that can damage my opponent.

How you would counter it: I'd maybe use some form of elemental armor of a higher rank, or block the hit with most higher ranked supplementary/defensive ninjutsu.

How you perform it (with as much detail as you can):

"A 'spinning run'? How the hell do I do something like that? Twirl around like some ballerina while flames of fiery death hurtle towards you?"

Taking a moment to think about how exactly to perform the technique, I then subsequently perform the hand seals Monkey → Bird → Dog → Ram, allowing molded katon chakra to surge through my chakra network and spill out of my body, forming large flames which look as if they "erupt" from my pores.

"Flame...on?"

I then start doing the "spinning run" that sensei had requested. This is ridiculous I thought, as I spin, looking like some dancer. The flames rotate around my body as I make my way towards sensei's clone.

Once I reach the clone, the flames, rotating at high speed, hit the clone and send him upwards, incinerating him as they burn him up.

"Umm, was that right?"

Good, good.

(Katon: Benijigumo) - Fire Release: Crimson Earth Spider
Rank: B
Type: Offensive
Range: Short - Mid
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage points: 40
Description: After performing five handseals Tiger → Horse → Rat → Dog → Tiger , the user spews out fire that both surrounds the enemy and then transforms into a spider that attacks the enemy. This technique effectively traps and attacks an opponent at the same time, and can be used to force them into another attack.

First perform the five required hand seals, gather up a decent amount of your katon chakra in your mouth, then spew it out into fire that bot surrounds the enemy then transforms into a spider to attack your target. This technique is good, cause it does two things at once; traps with flames while the spider attacks.

One/three advantages (no obvious ones, be creative):

  • 1. The flames serve two functions, trap and attack. This is very advantageous if I get the enemy caught in it.
  • 2. In the "heat of battle" (get it? ...no? ok, bad joke >_>) the opponent will panic and make a mistake when trying to counter it.
  • 3. By forcing an enemy into another attack, I can disrupt a potentially lethal counter from them, or make them use something they wouldn't have picked.
One/three disadvantages (no obvious ones, be creative):

  • 1. Hand seals can make it a little slower to execute.
  • 2. I wish this had a short-long range. Then again, I wish most jutsu did XD
  • 3. Can be countered with high level Water techs used properly.
How you would use it in battle: I'd first try and trap the opponent inside the flames. Then, I'd make the spider attack my opponent, or even latch on.

To finish them off, I'd enclose the area around the flames with a large Earth jutsu, essentially turning it into a "furnace of death" :snick:

How you would counter it: High level Water techs, or be out of range. Take advantage of the time frame disruption caused by weaving of the hand seals.

How you perform it (with as much detail as you can):

"I used to hate spiders. I guess not so much anymore."

I perform the hand seals Tiger → Horse → Rat → Dog → Tiger and release molded Katon chakra from my mouth, forming a circular trap around one of sensei's other clones. It traps the clone. From the fires, I apply shape manipulation and a fiery spider of death emerges from the flame trap, latching on to sensei's clone and burning him severely as it engulfs him.

"Can I make the spider explode? Because that would be totally awesome." I say, a slight hint of my small pyromaniac tendencies showing again >_>
