Your friends are right. First of all, your argument suffers from the appeal to belief, where because you believe Batman is a useless superhero, Captain America would be able to wreck him in a fight, without providing any actual evidence that would lead you to think this.
Batman's prep time is easily one of the deadliest forces in fiction, even Superman had dubbed him the most dangerous man on earth, who of which in one situation Batman in an elderly state with prep time managed to subdue superman, who is above Captain America to the point of there being no competition. One of his best prep feats has him outsmarting and defeating an entire group of super martians who managed to defeat the entire Justice League, but even that isn't the limits to his preparation skills.

Next, he can well hold his own against Captain America, with his amazing dexterity, speed for a human, and martial arts skills. Not to forget the utility belt, which could go from stalling to Captain America's demise. Tools that include tear gas pellets, a grapnel gun to stall and take advantage of the field, a stun gun and tranquilizer darts, the goo gun, etc. Batman has way more advantages in this fight no matter how you put it.
