Don't click if you don't want to read. It's not rocket science.
I haven't made a post in months and it's because everytime I arrive, I see the same kind of threads and leave. It's not like I have any options to join more interesting or constructive threads.

Well make an interesting thread then. Don't expect others to entertain you, entertain yourself like me. You can't just ask people to stop something just because you don't like it. That's called being selfish, who do you think you are to tell these people what to do? We'll do as we please.

This is an interesting thread because it goes against the grain. Also everyone is selfish and I will ask people to stop making these kinds of threads. They're free do to whatever they want but so am I, and I choose to tell them why they shouldn't engage in those threads.

Yes because I've detailed reasons why it's not good for you to obsess over those topics and because nobody else has made a thread like this. I had to take initiative and it will benefit this section by having people think differently about it in the future, those that respond to reason that is.

You really can't blame anyone. This is the most important election during our life times that will change the face of the United States for the next 1 to 2 decades. Maybe you should take a break from general discussion for a while, until the election is over.

First of all it's gotten tedious.

Second, it's not good for your health to constantly reflect over and discuss such topics.

Third, there is more to life than talking about men and women who make their living by swaying public opinion and who only speak the truth perhaps once a decade.

Fourth, it's all a game but you won't be able to change anything being on the outside and even if you could, it's simply not a goal worth your time and energy.

Fifth, educating yourself on relevant topics is important but so is being able to think for yourself in spite of it.

Sixth, it's said the stomach is a second brain, well your brain is a second stomach and it will process whatever you feed it regardless of its quality. The fact is all knowledge aren't created equal so stop the junk information that is news and politics. It won't do you any good, and your brain processes emotions too. Think of your mental health and stop absorbing fear propaganda and negativity.

I can't come up with anymore reasons but you get the point.

I hear ya but this is what we get when we're not getting those other threads

You want more of that?

In the same way Bush was elected nearly 12 years ago, yet we can still trace damaging remnants of his 8 years office in our country today. Also, Hillary Clinton plans to mass migrant refugees from the Syria, and various middle Eastern Countries to the U.S, with the intentions of bolstering the democratic vote. These refugees will be provided with funds out of tax payers dollars, welfare programs, etc. and the Left will be the ones providing it. The same goes for immigrants coming south of the border. This will keep their families and future generations under democratic nomination. She's setting the ground work to insure the democratic vote in future elections; the country will be more left leaning than balanced.

Definitely not but let's get creative.

That's not so bad and your country won't be more left leaning than it is already.

It's only bad for your health if you get too angry or stress about it.
But if you want change, then create a new interesting topic for a thread that hasn't been done yet ....then people will be encouraged enough to start creating similar topics to give their opinions.

After awhile that type of threads will become boring and we are going to need your help again. Though others had tried in the past, wanting new thread topics by avoiding political conversations and crime and sadly they have failed us
So don't let us down.

In order to get away from the kind of discussion that's dominating this section lately. I think we should ask what draws people to those specific topics. Any ideas?

What would you rather talk about then? Whether or not the end justifies the means?

Personally, I'd rather talk about something that has an actual impact on my life and affects the society I live in and could potentially decide whether or not I live or die.

But you're free to make whatever topic you like. No one's stopping you from talking about something else.

As I've stated before, you can't change anything so it's a waste of your time and my life has never been effected by anything political or news related so I don't know what you're talking about.

What would actually create an impact in your life is seeing reality for what it is and improve your life instead of passively waiting for someone to fix your problems for you. Also anything thought-provoking is a good discussion. News and politics have the opposite effect, they're mind-numbing.

Ok and do you realize that is exactly the mindset of the majority of people and is why we end up with such poor politicians?

Uh huh, so increasing the minimum wage, getting affordable healthcare, creating bills which make gay marriage and abortion legal, investing into infrastructure, and a plethora of other legislations has had no positive effect on anyone's life and the people had no say in the matter whatsoever?

Well, you might as well say the Earth is flat.

No, what's thought provoking is how to make the society better with real world applications, not debates about the metaphysical.

You do realize most problems exist because authority figures think it's a good idea to ignore the means to get to the end? Also just what exactly have you done besides being a smartass?

Also even if you got the greatest human who cares about their people put in charge. You'd either see a swift change in their policies or they would just get assasinated. As I said before, it's all a game, the best thing you can do is choose to not play.

Well I vote. And then I try to help people when I can, including giving charity. Obviously I don't have all the time in the world on my hands due to work, but if I did I would gladly be more active in political activism.

And maybe authoritarian figures wouldn't be in the positions they were if more people came out to vote for someone better. There are statistics about that. The more people don't know about elections, the more chance the rich authoritarian figures get to be elected, because they have the money to get their name out. That's how Jeb Bush won as Governor in Florida. That's how Debbie Wasserman Shultz won the Congressional District seat, even after stepping down as DNC chair because emails leaked showing she help rig an election against Bernie.

And nobody knew who Tim Canova was.

So yeah, voting is important.

Not every politician is an authoritarian figure either. Just look at Bernie Sanders.

So why wasn't Jimmy Carter assassinated then? You know what happens when someone is assassinated? They become a martyr for the cause. Martin Luther King Jr. getting assassinated didn't stop the black movement against segregation. Lincoln getting assassinated didn't end the victory of the Union.

You can't choose not to play when you live in a society and are directly affected by it whether you like it or not. The economy affects your life, the food safety affects your life, the healthcare affects your life, and a thousand other things.

You just don't see it because you choose to believe it doesn't and you remain ignorant and make up excuses to continue that ignorance.
