He never won that fight, the 3rd raikage was never even fighting.
1. He's DEAD
2. He exposed all his weaknesses
3. He was being COMPLETELY controlled
4. He was sealed away and pierced himself, he would never do that in real life.
The war is actually great, because its complementing both the shinobi alliance and the akatsuki in the way that its complements the ninjas in the alliance for actually sealling these Legendary powerful ninjas, but also gives reasons (the above reasons) of why and how they got sealed, they were not defeated as in an actual fight but SEALED.
By doing this, it makes both sides uber powerful (which they actually are, proven for a fact in the manga). The 4 reasons above are WAY more than enough to show how they were not even defeated but sealed. Even some broke out of being controlled (Hanzo, itachi etc).
You just have to watch it, to get it.
One cannot summarize why OP is so great with a few words. It's all those small details in the manga and anime that make it so great. There are so many things happening at once, and Oda keep everyone updated with every character he ever introduced. Oda doesn't kill off characters so easily either, it's too easy just to kill off someone. It's easy dramatic scenes.

Yes, it's definetely right up there with Naruto.
You learn so much from the manga and anime. It's very deep.
I've seen so many animes and read so many mangas, none of which have been better than One Piece in my eyes. And I know ATLEAST 20 people here on NB which would say the same.
If you want to compare Luffy and Naruto.
Naruto has had the worlds most powerful being sealed inside him from the day he was born. All he had to do is to learn control it. He was destined to be the strongest person on earth from the start of the series, and the viewers were just waiting for it to happen.
Luffy, just a regular dude, who has had sick training since he was a kid, and has eaten a devils fruit and gained Rubber body. (There are 100s of people in the world with devils fruits). The Rubber devil fruit isn't a particulary strong devils fruit even. There are many that are much stronger. And there are a LOT of people that are stronger then Luffy. Luffy may be dumb as **** and lack a lot of common sense, but when it comes to combat, he's a genius. His combat style is pretty improvised, but he can come up with so many good tactics on the go.(Not like Shikamaru, Luffy improvises his way into victory.)
There are in my opinion no other mangaka, that put so much detail into their manga compared to Oda.
He has cover stories(side stories for characters introduced earlier in the series). And in almost each panel, you can find so many stuff in the background. I think it's those small things that makes One Piece the great manga that it is.
And also that it's an adventure that I never want to end.

Read the manga, you can get through it faster. If you're watching the anime, it'll take 20 min on each episode either way, but if you read the manga, you can go at your own pace.
If people just watched/read it instead of asking about it, I wouldn't have to keep wasting my time posting in threads like these.

By the way, nearly all of my friends watch either naruto (mainly) or one piece, all of the ones who watch one piece buy the mangas and all of the ones who read naruto watch it online. Now ive also talked to alot of fans of naruto on other websites and most of them watch online and don't buy the books.
My point is it seems alot of fans of naruto actually watch the manga online and dont bother buying (including me), and if they started to buy te manga books it should certainly surpass one piece sales.

Nope.
The sales numbers are from Japan. Nearly everyone that reads manga there, buys it.
Also, your friends that read One Piece, buy the manga, and not you friends that read Naruto, because they feel One Piece is so good, that they have no problems buying it and supporting the publishers doing so.
I read One Piece online, but I also buy it when it comes out with volumes, because there are tons of extra stuff in the volumes, like the SBS (which is a Q&A with the author) and other stuff.
I also buy it because I love the manga so much and I wanna support it however I can.
Would you really think I'd waste so much of my time, trying to tell people how freaking awesome the manga is, if it wasn't actually good?
Somehow I feel like you're just trying to say Naruto is better than One Piece, which you would quickly find out to be false, if you had actually watched One Piece. (Not just a couple of episodes).

Hmmm !!! Everytime someone comes up and posts a thread about how they do not prefer OP over others and there has been a lot "I MEAN A LOT" of discussion and arguments around.
Its common saying that if you do not like the anime even after Arlongs Arc then stop watching OP and you will have sufficient time in your hands to do better things.
One piece is ok the manga suck but the anime is awesome. Naruto forever though
If you hate OP then you have all the right to do it but you do not have any right to hurt others feelings!!! So stay out of these discussions and let others enjoy the manga to their liking!!!
So as to what you might be missing, Understanding Capabilities!!! I do not mean to be offensive, the logic behind any Manga is the same "Guts/Courage/Service". But they are executed in different ways. FT, Naruto, bleach, OP all go allong these lines. If you like one you can like the other too. But if you do not then you probably have a complex developed towards only a particular manga and try to see others in the same way. That doesn't work out. You would have felt better if you tried it with an open mind!!!

Besides One Piece is so good that people WANT to buy stuff from it. And Naruto clearly is not.
The gap between One Piece and Naruto is 31.000.000 manga sales. And you think you and your Naruto friends can close that gap just by buying a book once in a while ?

before this all gets out of control--there's no point in debating about what's better. This thread was simply a guy asking for some encouragement to either read/watch One Piece or at least not hate it.

Reading One Piece must have made your friends better people, so that they get better salary/allowance. A lot of lessons learned from One Piece.
Watching One Piece hopefully.
And there isn't really debate. The sales numbers and ratings speak for themselves.
