Look at the size of the Bijuu, these 9 Bigass, Enormous, Humongous Gigantic, Skyscraper Sized Creatures.

Sasuke casted Genjutsu on all them at the same time, and the Sage confirmed it was with a single glance.

Given their size and location, there's no way that he could have gotten all of them with a single glance by making eye contact with each of them one by one especially at the exact same time.

The only logical explanation is that the Tomoe Rinnegan can cast Genjutsu without eye contact, which is another similarity it has with the Rinne-Sharingan, which casted the Infinite Tsukuyomi that doesn't require eye contact.

Only the Sharingan was stated to need eye contact to cast. Sasuke is the only one to cast Genjutsu with the Rinnegan, and unlike the Sharingan, knowledge of it's capabilities weren't well known due to a long history of people with it's abilities. So the same rules that apply for the Sharingan aren't guaranteed to apply for the Rinnegan.

Itachi was able to use the opponent's 5 senses to cast genjutsu I see no reason why Sasuke couldn't do the same. Sharingan doesn't have 360 degree vision so he must have used the bijuus senses to be able to use it on them simultaneously.

Stopped reading after this. IT does require eye contact with reflected light.

I don't think the rinnegan genjutsu he used can really be compared to other genjutsu. I say that only because of this scan

You must be registered for see images

Notice in the bottom panel of Kurama he appears to still be struggling to attack Sasuke. If it were more of a traditional "illusionary" genjutsu, like IT or regular Tsukuyomi, his mind shouldn't still be in tact and he shouldn't still be trying to attack Sasuke.

This makes me think that the "genjutsu" Sasuke used wasn't like an actual genjutsu, more like a move specific to his Rinnegan, specifically for suppressing the bijuu's power. Which would explain why he was able to use it on them all at once without having to follow the normal guidelines for genjutsu and why it didn't appear to have the typical effect that other genjutsu usually has on it's victims

EDIT: There was also this scan where Kurama was even able to talk to Naruto and ask for help. Further suggesting that the "genjutsu" wasn't altering their mind state at all, their powers were simply being suppressed.

Then again, it could also mean that Sasuke wasn't adept enough at that point to fully put the genjutsu on all nine bijuu and trap them all in an illusion, so I could be wrong ofcourse

His genjutsu basically works like a chakra rod, it restricts the bijuu's will but not their conscious. It was essentially a stronger version of Sharingan genjutsu used on bijuu.

At that point he could have used them like Madara used Kurama but it wasn't worth the effort because he intended to use their chakra for his Susanoo

I think he needs eye contact to cast Genjutsu, because it was said he caught all the Bijuu with a single gaze, right? Unless I missed something, it implies that eye contact is needed.

Imo.

Lol there's no need for the air quotes. The Sage himself stated that it was Genjutsu.

All the Bijuus had the Tomoe Rinnegan reflected on their eyes.

Like Manda.

I'd say he can, but Kurama resisted it if not rest of the bijuus.

Yes one of the 9 Bijuu resisted for two seconds. That somehow means Sasuke made eye contact with them all at the exact same time, rather than casted it on them without eye contact.

He couldn't have possibly gotten them in Genjutsu at the exact same time by looking into each of their eyes one by one.

I thought the sharingan genjutsu used on the bijuu affected their conscious as well. And I wouldn't consider the chakra rods restrictions on the physical body to be similar to a genjutsu, which specially alters your cerebral nervous system thus affecting all 5 of your senses

Kurama was able to communicate with Madara in their fight against Hashirama but all his feats were done under Madara's control. Sharingan genjutsu is basically the Uchiha version of Animal Path but instead of chakra rods they use their Sharingan to control the beasts.

Madara could make Kurama use bijuudama at will similar to how Obito did when controlling the 6 bijuu with Outer Path, Sharingan genjutsu and chakra rods are similar in the sense they can both grant the users control over the bijuu's will.

Just because Itachi can do something, doesnt mean Sasuke can also do it.

He probably just did a 360.

Does the same thing here with Amaterasu. Anyway I stand by what I said going by the fact that he got them all through a gaze. Imo
