If they were to fight and Guy used 7 gates, I believe Kakashi could still pull of a win. Kakashi knows how powerful the gates tech is and how fast Guy could possibly move. And in that case Kakashi wouldn't fight Guy head on but outsmart him.
-Mole hiding tech + Lightning clone could give Kakashi enough time to counter Guy
-Kamui could counter Evening tiger
-Summon dogs to slow Guy down and then use lighting blade or Kamui
-Possibly use Gates himself. Kakashi opened up the 1st gate in part 1, whose to say he can't open more. He probably doesn't do it often since it really isn't his style
They're possibly many ways for Kakashi to pull of a win. Of course it would be hard and Guy probably has a higher chance of winning if he uses gates, but all hope wouldn't be lost for Kakashi
I also believe being stronger doesn't mean a win. Gai sure is physically stronger than Kakashi, but Kakashi is easily smarter and a better all around ninja, better tactician which can help him win this fight
i commend you on this theory, i thought kakashi had no chance against guy but you brought up some fairly good points

People say 'he wouldn't use that jutsu against Kakashi', but c'mon. Do you really think that he'd consider someone like Kakashi a rival, knowing he could destroy him in 2 seconds if he wanted to? No, he wouldn't. He'd just see him as another guy.
In their "battles"(so not including stupid duels like "rock-paper-scissors", tree climbing, overlaping a village, etc), Kakashi was always stronger than him. Gai said it himself:

People who think Gated Gai would speedblitz Kakashi are people who don't read the manga. Sharingan has been shown to be able to read movements of even faster ninjas than Gai(Sasuke read V1 Raikage's speed). Sasuke was completely surpassed in speed by Naruto at the VOTE, but when 3tomoes appeared, he saw thru his movements easily.
During this war, we've seen Kakashi able to keep up with 6gated Gai:
Yet people falsly believe gated Gai would speedblitz Kakashi when it's far from the truth. Gated Gai is fast yes, but it seems that his speed is greatly overlooked in battles. Kisame was able to keep up with him while in gate mode despite Gai's superiority in speed, Kakashi was able to keep up with him:

5gated Lee and Gai weren't even able to run faster than some fodder alliance in their assault against the Juubi, and as a result they got destroyed by his attack:

Beside speed, Kakashi is overall better than him in almost everything. He can't identify clones. Just imagine, if gated Gai fights and hurt a Raiton Kage Bunshin? He would be paralysed, and it would end with a Raikiri thru the chest. He is more versatile in fights, reason why he always was ahead of him in their battles

Actually Gai used 7gates plenty of times even before, probably even during their duels because even someone like Yamato(who was an Anbu under Kakashi's commandment) knows about it:

That means that Yamato saw him using this before probably at the time when Kakashi was in Anbu since it's only there that Anbus are capable to work together. Maybe during one of his duels against Kakashi
