If Itachi has a Perfect Susanoo that can take down couple of mountains with one slash, have powers comparable to bijuu's then Yes. But otherwise no. He has no powerhouse moves like Nagato. He's more like a 1v1 type of guy.

Bro Itachi has a good amount of chakra when he is healthy. Look at when he fought edo kabuto, not a single thread of fatigue showed when he used susanoo half the time. Edo people still show fatigue but he did not, so don't say he has poor amounts of chakra.

Gai is Kisame's worst matchup. Gai wins 10/10 times, and it's not debatable in the least.

I'm fairly certain that Itachi was originally supposed to capture Naruto. Even if he harbored hatred for the Leaf Village, I doubt that he would have attacked the village openly like Nagato did, since he doesn't have the same arsenal at his disposal. That being said, there are a number reasons that Itachi probably would have been more effective than Nagato.

1. Itachi knows the Leaf Village. Itachi grew up in the village and could probably move about the village fairly easily.

2. Itachi has infiltrated the village almost unnoticed before. After the Third Hokage died, Itachi simply walked into the village in full Akatsuki garb and almost got out of the village unseen. Imagine if Itachi wanted to be covert.

3. Itachi knows what Naruto looks like. This is probably Itachi's biggest advantage. I don't think Nagato would have needed to destroy the village like he did, if he knew what Naruto looked like. He could have easily camped out in the village for a while and captured Naruto at his leisure. Itachi could have probably done this more easily, though, since Itachi can use genjutsu to disable Naruto.

I guess if Itachi used Susano and used sealed everyone lol. But no, they would retreat. Nagato had huge chakra supply so he had an edge. But even with kisame, well actually if somehow kisame used that water dome and itachi infused the sealing sword with the water dome, then kisame just went all around and drowned or absorbed everyone, they have a chance. lol.
