Can Gai dodge Amaterasu?

Hey everyone, lowest guy on the totem pole here. I see Amaterasu as the 'Un-extinguishable eternal Flames' not the fastest flames. From what I saw with the fight with his brother Itachi it was more an issue of strategy to use Amaterasu rather than who is fast enough to dodge it. With the Raikage it was not the issue of speed either, more like causing massive pain and debilitating injury. I think the focus on speed is not important but the tactics to avoid the attack and how to avoid contact whilst fighting Sasuke while trying to think ahead since it only takes one time together that on you and burn forever. Let me know what you think.

dont think so because guy fights a sharingan user by looking at their feet so he would not be able to dodge it

I think that was because he knew the kind of fighter Itachi was. Think about his fight against Obito. He wasn't afraid to look Obito in the eye and that was when he was thought to be Madara.

As for a response, Amaterasu is still a speedy attack, you're right on all points that you've mentioned. Tactics does come into play but you have no hope of dodging this move without some kind of impressive speed in my opinion. Tactics does come a long way though, which is why I mentioned Gai would have to be prepared for the move in order to dodge it though. Good first post though, you deserve some rep and I hope you continue to post like this =D

Gai at 6th or 7th Gates should be able to evade the user's line of vision. If he has the intel though.

I'd say he's able to dodge at 5 or 6th gate

Easily. Amateresu isn't as great as it's made out to be.

Awesome, thanks ★Kuro Kami! If I was to say anything about Gai I would say that he is physically at the higher level of all the shinobi I have seen on Naruto. With that said I think he has not been developed fully in this series so we are not sure if anything that he needs to open any particular number of 'Gates' to dodge the flames of Amaterasu.
