What I'm more worried about is power scaling. Doflamingo, who shat his pants in thought of Kaido, while already massively damaged, is still kicking around after Luffy's ace. I don't see how Luffy will deal with stronger opponents without asspulls.
Same thing happened in part 1 a lot, Luffy would struggle against a thug in one arc and then next arc go one on one against a guy who was vastly stronger and still win.

Alabasta is a perfect example, he had a hard time against Crocodile's thugs, yet still (after losing two rounds) managed to beat Crocodile in the third round.

Straw Hat power levels increase at extremely high rates in between arcs.

Breaking Down My Definition of a Good Fight

Notice Z vs Luffy and how gripping the action is. It is fluid and back and foward. Both fighters are actually participating in the fight. Not one person standing and watching the other. There is no interruption or skipping away. There is no unneccessary dialigue. Granted it is the anime but this in mu opinion is how I expected Luffy vs Doffy to be based on its ADVERTISMENT aNd build up

"Shut up bro OP is not about fights its about adventure and friends and if u cant accept it drop it"-Most Fanboys

First of all before someone gives a genric answer like a quoted above let me clarify something. I am not an action ***** by any means. And nor I am I troll I think this is a legit question all OP fans should ask themselves to be be 100% honest

Let me explain: I have no doubt in my mind Oda can draw epic fight scenes(Marineford, Dressrosa Clashes) But I am having doubts if he cab draw epic fights with fluidity and cohesiveness

OP FIGHTS

GEAR 4th
BAMM!! Luffy sends Doffy flying
Skips to Riku dialogue
BAMM!! Luffy sends Doffy flying
A bunch of dialougu
BAMM!! Doffy kicks Luffy down a hole
Bellamy talking
BAMM!! Furocious Tiger
Skips to Ussop doing nothing or running around

My point is this fight and most OP FIGHT(besides Luffy vs Lucci) lack cohesion. Its hard as a viewer trying to engage in a fight when its not really a fight. Just basically a scene. We saw glimpses of it when Doffy was dodging but thats about it

Doflamingo Trademark Move(Parasite)

Luffy is my boy but the reason this fight sucks is because Doffy was been nerfed for plot purpose and its 1 sided. Notice Luffy was blitzing Doffy and not once did he use parasite or spiderweb to block Luffy. A man of his reaction speed is staying there and watching Luffy come at him without defended. No barriers at all

Even MF we didnt have one proper fight it was a just epic scenes here and there. In punk hazard we saw a few fights but none where executed well too me

My biggest fear as an OP fan

I fear when he see Top Tiers like Kaido they are not gonna have proper fights because Oda is incapable of drawing fluid fights. I feel when we see Kaido or Dragon they will have epic scenes in spots but no real fight were there is a back and forth between the 2 people who are fighting

The main reason for making this thread

Anyone on this forum can verify I am not a troll or a OP hater because I contribute alot on this forum. I am making this thread because anytime we have BUILD UP BUILD UP for 80+ chapters there is supppose to be PAYOFF so we as fans can feel it was worth the wait. But the payoff for this fight is horrible. How do you build up for 80 chapters then when the fight happens you skip ten minutes of it. You have Riku and fodder taking up panel space. You have a one sided battle with epic scenes and no fluidity. NO BACK AND FORTH NO SENSE OF DANGER

Tell me what u guys think? Its not only this fight but I have noticed a trend in OP. Also let me note this I enjoyed the backstory and epic moments in Dressrosa. I just feel this arc is 20 chapters too long

first oda starts an edic battle after a wasting 10 chapter(in contest of story) then halt it for more.now my patience is running out.Oda should be done with this arc by now.

I can kinda agree with u Oda tends to put in somethings that shld have been put before the fight began such as Riku's speech but if in the anime the scenes wldnt need b much of Riku and with some battle epic soundtrack accompanying the whole thing and Luffy vs DD being shown with Riku's voice on top ots obviously gonna b more thrilling.

What im not liking with this fight though is the breaks its getting either coz of Doffy's sadistic nature or coz luffy & Co. dont got the right stuff to go pound for pound vs DD. G4 was active for 3or 4 chapters but all Luffy did was several hits spread apart with the inclusion of scenes form else where and that does indeed take away the momentum from the fight. As story telling goes however its awesome coz really when is it the best time to show the dispar from birdcage other than during the break it or it breaks us fight, or to show other efforts to break it coz we need to be told Luffy cant beat Doffy in the time frame before BC completly destorys DR.

I guess all in all its trade off, u get jaggered fights but the story(which is more important) is executed specutacularly. If he did put Riku's speech before the fight it wld give the fight sprt of an exhibition match feeling not the last hope life and death feelling that can spur even those who had turned agnaist u to become body shields for u while u recover that his method though excrutiating at times brings.

you can say that but wait makes people bore but if u make them wait even more then imagine what happens
your only bored cause you read it week by week, take the whole manga in at once and its epicness is obvious, its the intricate story line that appeals to so many not just individual fights. than again if you payed attention, sabo, gear 4th, awakening of devil fruit, and other important information was released during this arc. proving OP is about so much more than its fights. which marine ford speaks for alone. not many mangaka can make a one sided beating on luffy so entertaining. even when he was obviously out matched it still was a great war because of how complex this story is.

of course, thats just my opinion

Everyone read manga per week no one read it collectively for few weeks & I am not saying one side beating but SH strength should be shown.I can think a possible way that oda wants to increase it as this win is like a symbolic win of common people over CD.As DD is a CD by birth & had some deep connections as well

This has been happening ever since impel down and marineford and continues to happen even now, there are some reasons I actually prefer pre-ts OP compared to the post-ts, marineford arc was more of a cause to some weird/bad trends in OP that happen these days, but I dont actually mind the jumping around since I've been able to get over it, the fact the the writer cant even focus one whole chapter to an scene alone is weird as hell and this didnt happen before TS, while u can be used to it, but it can be annoying sometimes, the more I'm worried about is Oda doing more sub-plots than he can handle, the main problem I've been having about the post-ts is the fact that Oda stuffs so much in one arc that I lose track of what is happening time to time, it becomes annoying and the whole arc seems like a cluster fuk making the writer jump from a scene to a scene like a headless chicken, I mean since the ts we barely had any interaction between straw hats and the attention given by the writer to straw hats is reduced massively while the writer tend to focus too much on useless side characters, and not to forget that during dressrosa Oda loved to waste panels with people running from bird cage and Viola & Riku saying the same annoying things almost all the time, all those cries and suffering of the dressrosa people for me arent even that sad anymore, it lost the element of surprise for me.

I honestly think Oda isn't done with the "build-up" thing. Remember when Law told Doffy that the marines are gathering their forces in anticipation for a war that's coming? I think what what Oda has been trying to portray is the allies of the SH that will be involved in that war. Each arc brings in more powerful allies So they have to be shown. Their strength, weakness, struggles. Would you prefer for a war to break out now and you begin to see random people just showing up to help the SH like we saw At marine Ford for WB? The only times this powerful allies have to shine and grow is during the arcs So I believe all the jumping around is absolutely necessary. One Piece is more than the fight/power.

I mean look At all what the SH allies have achieved

Sai surpassed Don Chinjao, The giant lifted what,10 or 1000 tons?
Cavendish getting Hakuba a bit under control. All this side story is absolutely necessary.
You don't expect the whole country to stop and watch Luffy fighting DD when their life is in danger due to BG.

Oda is just trying to show the depression, chaos, intrigue that's all relying on the outcome of that one fight. So stop complaining and enjoy this.

This is my best arc after Marine Ford

Why are telling people how to think. Maybe people are bored because the fight is boring. Its that simple bro. Marathoned or not the fight is not executed well

Read most of the comments agreeing with the OP and I concur... People who keep arguing that sub-plots, extra characters and flashbacks, epics moments in the arc etc, no one is disagreeing with that, I think most of those people will agree with me on this on all of that build up was brilliant, everything right up until the reached Doflamingo.... and then that's where it started to go wrong, I agree that the fight could have been a lot better. That's considering the fact they reached Doflamingo what, 30 chapters ago or something? Just the fight progression on Doflamingo hasn't been too great in my opinion.
