Its not rare, it just goes unnoticed
You would be suprised, especially in Texas. Anyone can come on as a witness, and It didnt help that the guy was single and middle aged. Yet he had been a neighbor for so long now, damn parents
I believe the story to be fake. Otherwise either parents and authorities are really stupid if that was all to the case or we are missing something. If it happened at all, something must have happened prior to that incident and parents were jumpy or they had some grudge with that neighbor and tried to settle the score of something( they should get sued for it in this case).
The definition of rape:
It makes no difference the gender. So yeah. But the attitude that "I wouldn't even care as long as she's hot" is kind of a problem because it leads people to believe for some reason that it's not really rape then.
That's only one of the reasons. The cases where men get seriously hurt physically, suffered some kind of permanent damages or died due to sexual assault are extremely rare. And I can't remember any case where an adult man got so depressed that he committed suicide after being raped by a woman. The grown men suffering a lasting trauma or social taboo because of it are not that many either.
How many times you hear about a male victim blamed and stigmatized after getting raped by a woman, by others? Or other sexual predators classing such a guy as an easy target making it difficult to go on with his day to day life?
How many times people would tell him that it was his fault to not dress up properly and not lead on the woman? Instead like the ones you mentioned may congratulate him. It may be really stupid and unwanted reaction but however annoying, it's not 100% negative feedback for guys.
How many of them were made victim of honour killing by their own family members even?
Off course if a guy ended up facing that kind of violence leading to serious harm or death somehow- no one would be laughing it away, and I am sure that woman is going to jail for violent assault. As a matter of fact, seeing the general attitude towards women under even normal conditions - the label of violent rapist will make that one even more easier target by men. Rapists in general don't get much respect but a female one would also be flashed as one desperate for ***. We all are sensible enough to understand how well that image will go down for her in society and how safe she will herself be anywhere.
Even today there is a large number of female victims who never come forward because they are programmed to blame themselves for not being careful enough(completely or partially) and are afraid of societies reaction while suffering the personal trauma all alone. Even with reported cases it's often hard to prove the consent factor. Many circumstantial and physical evidences get lost while the victim is still gathering up the will and courage to peruse the case. In fact, a lot of them try to take care of themselves emotionally and physically by getting rid of it. Most accused get away with it. Actual cases of conviction in rape cases may vary, but is still quite low world wide.
PS: It's really annoying to see random posts on such a serious issue.
