I'm Asian - grew up in Asia where anime is pretty common. Where I lived, local TV aired it so unless you lived under a rock, it was almost impossible to miss. Even my mum knows what Naruto is lol. No one there cared what you watch in your free time as long as you weren't completely obsessed with it to the point that it's all you ever think about.

Well, I always liked to watch cartoons (anime is more or less considered as cartoon) and I used to watch it even when I was "too old" for that.

Yeah, shit, I am 22 years old and I am still watching anime (reading manga a bit less) but I am still in that anime/manga world.
Why?
Honestly, don't have idea. I just like to watch/read anime/manga.
