if you have the seal, someone from the higher family can kill you, but doesn't matter wich family the byakugan is, both will lose it when they die.

Danzou ordering fuu to retrieve the Byakugan from Ao was evident that the Byakugan is still "fresh" when a person is dead.

The Branch House are branded with a cursed seal to protect the Byakugan's secrets, which serves to seal the Byakugan once the user dies.

One of the main branch could theoretically kill with it, because there is a jutsu tied in with it that allows main house members to inflict pain on seal wearers, by destroying brain cells.

No seal = No Byakugan sealing.

Branch house members are just guardians for the first-born, the main house.

I was going to make a theory about Byakugan importance, but without it I can't do much.

Somehow I'm starting to believe that any Hyuuga will lose his byakugan once he dies. Or at least every Hyuuga have a seal, but main house the seal is just to seal the byakugan once the person dies.
