So much byakugan origin threads going around which had some nice ideas but I think are a bit too farfetched “the sage’s wife having byakugan” etc.. Bringing up things that weren’t even mentioned in the manga which would require too much story telling. But anyway here’s mine:
The elder son was affected by the juubi which is why he always had the curse of hatred: In-depth reason why
The elder son inherited the eyes of the sage he was angry because the younger son was chosen by the sage to become successor which was the first act of this curse of hatred as he was affected by the juubi
The early elder son descendants all had the same eyes (whatever the elder son had) and all of them still had this hatred.
A group of people in the clan (later known as the hyuga) overcame this hatred and after generations obtained a watered down version elder sons which the byakugan (White eye).
And the other group of people in this clan(later known as the uchiha) couldn’t let this hatred go and after generations obtained a watered down version of the elder sons eye (but still with the hatred in them) which became known as the sharingan.
I can’t be bothered to do a long thread so I will keep it brief.
I believe the byakugan holders over came this hatred by solving the problem that started it all and making sure the younger sibling in the clan never became successors (main house branch house). I believe they did this very early on after the situation which is why over time they removed the main cause for the hatred an obtained the white eye the byakugan.
However in the clan despite solving the main cause of the hatred a new form of hatred was forming which was seen by neji’s dad and then neji in part 1. Naruto talk no jutsu put an end to this though.
I believe the sharingan holders couldn’t let this go and decades (or however long) after they were still fighting and competing with the original younger sons (senju) to show they were more powerful. They just couldn’t let the hatred in them go.
I could of went in to so much more detail like the juubi's eye and the sharingan but my threads are always to long
