OK first off anything past the intro for me will be filler in the 1st episode.
Why? because Kishi is no longer working on it and the author of Boruto did not give us this manga chapter making this an SP filler.
What we were shown however was the beginning in which Kawaki is fighting Boruto. So I will focus more on that.
One thing I did like about what SP did is that they got rid of that byakugan activation strain. Those things are uuuuuuugly as hell!

Now THAT is sexy as hell! look at that glow. It's like the moon.
What I do hate is that they made the rest of the eye black. Like some of you guys are calling Edo tensei eyes but I think SP is drawing more on another Sasuke parallel during his seal days.
Oh BTW from the anime, this is BEFORE Boruto attended ninja academy, not during or after but again, filler.
So Momoshiki or any seal didn't give him the byakugan, according to SP.
But this is definitely after Himawari revealed that she has byakugan to Boruto.
My take is that this is the first time Boruto was able to activate his Byakugan and it seems like it only activates when there's a supernatural threat. *Bleach plot*
Anyways, this is clearly to set him up for the tenseigan and I do hope so but I was rather not too happy about to color.
Rinnegan is the Yin path, the dark one. So having his eye, byakugan - Yang path: light one, have a dark color scheme is not ideal.
TBH I kind of hate how he is just becoming Sasuke 2.0. I hope he doesn't go all emo about it.

Sorry if I hadn't posted my tenseigan thread yet but this is pretty much where people get it wrong.
tenseigan has a radiating marks on the center of it signifying a star.
Since it is mostly white, it is hard to distinguish but the pattern should look a lil bit like this:
