From today's episode I learnt two things Boruto still hasn't learnt the futon jutsu and nobody actually know what he used. Boruto takes orders from Sarada he's getting primed for the underling role.

Sarada at least tries to learn new jutsu, doesn't matter if she used her sharingan.
Sarada using her Sharingan is as natural as Shikadai having a high IQ as Shikamaru and his dad.
Boruto learning fuuton is awesome, can't wait to see him master it along with Raiton and Suiton.

The sharingan is a prominence dojutsu which is more efficient and convenient to use than relying on your battle intuition. In other word, Kakashi wouldn't be much of prodigy without his reliance of the sharingan. The difference here is that Shikamaru has nothing to rely on other than his brain which is as natural as Boruto adapting jutsu with his own two hands.
