The thing is people in Japan dont know what they're buying until they buy it. We're lucky to live in a land where we can read shit for free.
The thing is Naruto is #1 most sold volumes in the Western state! People still buys it, and Naruto Gaiden volumes is in the top 1 spot.

Even if it was the number one volume sold in Japan this week it actually did quite poorly if you compare its numbers to other Naruto volumes. Volume 70 and 71 and the gaiden all sold over 600,000 copies the first week while volume 72 sold over 800,000. The first volume of Boruto only sold 183,000 copies the first which which is less than a third of previous Naruto volumes.

Actually, this isn't true at all. In japan, they have the system of weekly, bi-monthly or monthly etc manga magazines, which are a collection of all the new chapters of every series published by said magazine. So for example, if you buy Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, you get to read, Bleach, Naruto, One Pice, Toriko, Gintama along with every other manga series that's published by the WSJ magasine that has been released that week (these magazine chapters are what scanlations groups use for the raw and fan translations that we get online). Later when they have enough material, they release the Tankobon of each manga, which is a stand alone book containing only chapters from one series, these are what are known to us as the manga volumes which we buy.

It goes without saying that the sales talked about above are those of the first volume of the Boruto manga.

Japanese people or people in general don't complain about fillers and silly shit like pairing. Only the internet, and the internet is just small portion of the fanbase. Even if the internet gives something a bad rep, there still a chance it can be popular.

Not only, who's not gonna follow the Boruto story after the retelling of the movie?

No, it's actually pretty good. Considering it's new, and a recap of the movie. You're comparing the first volume to the final 3 volumes of Naruto.

Honestly it should have had bad sales, so that they can make a point about this rehash thing.

It's going to be half a year when it reaches chapter 6, and that'll still most likely be a rehash chapter at best. That's not cool at all.
The people who keep repeating same complaints but practically never had bought the volumes to begin with, cannot affect manga sales and rightly so.

Movies and animes are made to reahsh what's in the manga all the time. In fact when they diverge from the story they get criticized then too. Boruto isn't even the first manga to do so either. Nor only in Japan. Novelized form of Batman movies to Benten series can be found in the market.

If you are not interested in seeing the same story in another medium that's just fine but movies and mangas are different mediums. Not everyone like watching movies and some may want to collect the whole story in one medium. If people want to read that story in a manga along with or instead and publishers are providing it, it will sell.
