Boruto is talented, nobody can deny that. But I just see excuses when people say he was lazy and wanted to just impress his father, so he cheated. He could've impressed his father without cheating as well, so that reason doesn't justify his cheating. He got owned by Shikadai and won only because of cheating.

Given his feats, he definitely ain't no Prodigy.

He's on his own level of Genius.

Think about it logically. What Boruto has shown thus far compared to everyone in Part 1, and his current generation.

  • The boy is capable of doing 3-4 shadow clones, not that extremely impressive.
  • He is already capable of using three elemental natures before Chunin Rank (when even Chunin's don't have that). He is capable of using Fuuton, Raiton, and Suiton.
  • Gentle Fist Taijutsu without the Byakugan
  • He is able to combine elemental nature to his Rasengan, without shadow clones
Who has shown this level of Genius already? I mean bar Itachi, this boy is extremely talented. For instance look at what Rasen Shuriken means:

You must be registered for see images

Naruto could only do this after being Rikudou enhanced, but before that God-like power introduction, this was stated to be impossible. Which is why Naruto had to make shadow clones to do each process

You must be registered for see images

I mean the person being able to pull this off at 12 without shadow clones, and does this with one hand ... Can we not call this Genius?

You must be registered for see images

Funny enough, Boruto does all of this while he was lazy, and had no drive. He was unmotivated, and did not understand the meaning of shinobi. Take a moment to imagine his skill, and prowess, when the boy begins to hone his skill.

Jesus Christ.
Boruto fans keep bring up what techniques and stuff as superfluous as his potential and can never bring much to the table when it comes to explaining how he has what he has and still needed to cheat and get carried by ppl he's supposedly better than. The kid has done absolutely against anybody other than get a token Rasengan kill, and i'm supposed to go crazy over that and imaginary potential? I am thinking logically, but the problem is that you want me to buy into your logic.

Doubt it, he didn't need to cheat for people. It's a rather complex and difficult situation, and it's rather hilarious that someone who hasn't seen the movie needs to bring in their institutionalized bias. You haven't seen him perform in the exams. Nor do you understand his character, add that in what he had to go through in his mind. He's a shinobi who never trained, barely. That's a characterization he has, and what he faces throughout the movie. They called him wanting to be a student of someone else (Sasuke) a "miracle".

Against his first match, he was outnumbered. Instead of using his own techniques, he wasn't thinking. Boom. Cheated.
Against his second oponent, he would of won the match with the skill of shuriken throwing that Sasuke taught him. Did he use it? No he wanted to take a short cut. Boom, cheated.
Against Shikidai, instead of trying to figure a way out, he threw the scrolls on the floor. Boom cheated.

Funny enough, even against Shikidai. You know what he used in his skill set, out of everything I mentioned? Shadow clones and Taijutsu. That's all. Now let's try using your imaginary logic here. How exactly would this match play out if Boruto used everything he could?

Also, please refute what I said in my last post you quoted in. Because apparently something I said was wrong, so go ahead.

Maybe we are not just Boruto fans. Maybe we are Naruto fans who accept change that you don't.

this is Exhibit A of what i see from Boruto fans: "he didn't need to cheat", "it's a rather complex and difficult situation", "it's rather hilarious that someone who hasn't seen the movie needs to bring in their institutionalized bias", and "you haven't seen him perform in the exams. Nor do you understand his character, add that in what he had to go through in his mind".

Let me tell you something. First of all, there's nothing complex about anything other than the logic of those who worship religiously at the altar of Boruto. Prodigies don't need to cheat their way through an exam. If i was smart enough to academically be considered years ahead of my classmates in junior high or elementary school, i wouldn't need to look on other ppl's test papers to know the answer to a question or sneak out some sort of cheat sheet to ace said tests . As lazy as Shikadai is, even he managed to summon the effort to get through the exams w/o using a device that every last participant knew was forbidden.

Secondly, with full summaries, cam rips, and trailers of what happened being posted some of everywhere and Boruto marks feeling the need to talk about every little thing he has a problem with or has done, it's just as good as having seen it as far as i'm concerned.

Third, understanding his character has nothing to do with the premise of what i originally posted in this thread, so you shouldn't have needed to whine about somebody not understanding his character in the first place. You should've checked that crap at the door, because this thread is about his abilities. It doesn't have jack squat to do with understanding his character, so your armchair psychology degree is hardly needed here.

coming from the dude telling me to think logically while bringing up non-existent potential, you're gonna have to do better than this if you're trying to appear like you've somehow told me off.

Also, please refute what I said in my last post you quoted in. Because apparently something I said was wrong, so go ahead.
i don't have to do jack. You're the one who got all hot and bothered over a perfectly valid case being made to the point of whining about something that had virtually nothing to do with the thread.

Maybe we are not just Boruto fans. Maybe we are Naruto fans who accept change that you don't.
if it didn't apply to you, then you wouldn't have felt the need to get bothered by what i said. There's a couple of kids in Boruto's gen that i like, but i refuse to wank them to high heaven. That being said, you don't have the abilities to read minds, so kindly keep your presumptions to yourself.

This is a public forum I could say what ever the hell I want. I never claimed I have the ability to read minds. Go back to reading your comics.

Boruto fans? I'm sure the only people who have a right to say this are people who have seen the movie.

If you are interested in some information about it, shoot 'Tex.

If i was smart enough to academically be considered years ahead of my classmates in junior high or elementary school, i wouldn't need to look on other ppl's test papers to know the answer to a question or sneak out some sort of cheat sheet to ace said tests . Someone who hasn't seen the movie, has no right to label anything. It's just a fact. If you want me to list the reason why it's a complex situation, go ahead. But if you continue to be ignorant, expect ignorant responses.

And you wonder why you don't understand anything. Prodigal or Genius shinobi in the Manga all had a drive. Let me point out three; Sasuke, Neji, and Itachi. Should I explain, or do you already know? I'll leave this one on your side if I have to delve into their characters.

Boruto isn't like that, in fact he's the quite opposite of every Prodigal shinobi we have seen. He doesn't have a drive, he doesn't train, and he has no ambition.

It's a quite big topic in the movie, Naruto and Sasuke talked about it in the office during the middle portion of the movie. It starts off with Naruto comparing Boruto to Sasuke, although he takes it back afterwards. This is the scene where Sasuke comes back from his mission. After looking for Naruto at his house and meeting Boruto there for the first time, he goes to the Hokage’s office. After talking a little about Sasuke’s findings on his mission, Sasuke gives Naruto his old pre-shippuden jacket, saying he found it lying in the street outside his house (Boruto threw it out the window out of anger). He tells Naruto that he ran into his son, saying they’re very alike. Naruto denies this, saying if anything Boruto is more like Sasuke. Sasuke looks surprised at this, but then Naruto takes it back. He looks sorrowfully at his beat-up jacket, saying “no, even your clothes were more wrecked than his are.”

This doesn’t make sense out of the context of the movie. Basically, one of the themes deals with the struggle of what part technology plays in a ninja world, and what part ninjutsu plays in a technologically progressing world. It’s the whole ‘old vs new’ struggle that comes with modernization. For example, kids are playing video games instead of training. This debate is highlighted by the new armgear technology that plays an important part in the movie. Naruto bans the use of this gear in the chunin exams at the beginning of the movie, saying that true ninja need to discover what it means to be a ninja through hard work and sweat, not taking shortcuts using technology. Boruto later uses it to cheat in the chunin exams, which leads Naruto to disqualify Boruto, even stripping him of being a ninja. Naruto and Sasuke even cast a ‘bet’ on what ‘being a ninja’ means in the modern times, with Naruto thinking the fundamentals of being a ninja are changing, and Sasuke thinking they’re the same as in their childhood.

Going back to the scene in question where Naruto and Sasuke are talking, Naruto is referring to the fact that Boruto is a genius like Sasuke (and unlike himself). However, the reason he takes it back is because unlike Sasuke, Boruto is lazy and doesn’t try hard or train (Konohamaru and Sarada also say this in other scenes). This is what he means by saying ‘unlike you (Sasuke), his clothes aren’t tattered’. If you reword it, he acknowledges the fact that even though Sasuke is naturally gifted, he always put the effort in to get to where he is today.

Secondly, with full summaries, cam rips, and trailers of what happened being posted some of everywhere and Boruto marks feeling the need to talk about every little thing he has a problem with or has done, it's just as good as having seen it as far as i'm concerned.
I don't quite understand what you were trying to say in bold. Anyway, no. I also was going through the same situation as you, and seeing the movie is completely different.

I'm actually the one who posted every little information about this movie before I saw it, funny enough.

Exhibit A if someone who hasn't seen the movie.

The core principles of the movie touch upon Boruto's abilities and his character as one. Sigh, this is truly frustrating talking to someone who thinks they understand what they are talking about. When in reality, they are so far off they don't even know :lol

Go find that non existent potential when I listed all of his canon abilities. I'll wait.

Next time, don't complain about something you can't refute. It's just that simple. Go be a big boy now.

whenever you decide to take off your Boruto cape and stick to the thread's topic like somebody who can read English words, i'll be more than willing to continue discussing this. If you can't, then take your incessant whining to someone who cares.

Haters never cease to amaze me .

" Non Existent Potential " ?

Capable of using Fuuton, Raiton, and Suiton.
Gentle Fist Taijutsu without the Byakugan
He is able to combine elemental nature to his Rasengan, without shadow clones ( which was stated to be Impossible ) .

If your bias is to strong to admit this is " Potential " , you need to go get help .

That's exactly the problem of his character. Is that he is lazy, and just wanted to impress his father.

Of course there are many more factors that play into his cheating, if you wanted me to brush up on them. While he did lose to Shikidai, thinking back to the fight. Out of everything in his skill set, he only used shadow clones and Gentle Fist.

That's a bit small when he can do much more, I think it's pretty fair to say Boruto at the end would have fought better.
