Kishimoto has stated that the Boruto manga is just as important to him as the manga he is working on. He is closely supervising it to make sure it follows his vision. In fact, the artist originally didn't want to do a movie recap but instead reboot the entire franchise. Kishimoto insisted that that was retarded and instead he wanted to start with the movie recap to flesh out the characters and events more.
He specifically chose the writer and artist and considers the manga the true continuation of the story. It's better than the movie tbh, even if the art had a rough start it's been getting a lot better and you can see how the artist uses dramatic angles and a fully 3-D dynamic artstyle just like Kishimoto.
Also the artist is the one who designed Zabuza and Haku, so he's already made his mark on the Naruto franchise way before this and understands the story well, he's the most logical person to take the mantle.
His new design for transformed Momoshiki shows he still has great creativity for designing characters just like when he created Zabuza and Haku's designs 16 years ago.
