Anime: Imo, it's decent. It feels like a fresh start compared to the disaster that the War Arc is. It seems slow as of right now as they establishing the kids' relationship, and one at the time, but I don't mind that. In fact, one of the biggest reason why a lot of people complain about the Naruto-Sasuke relationship is because the foundation was extremely weak and excuted rather poorly. So, establishing that for the new generation from the get go is a good thing imo.
The conflict might seem silly, or perhaps some people think there isn't anything too serious as of right now, but I am, personally, okey with that as they are in the academy which is extremely limited in term of what it has to offer. As unlike the Genin-Rank, they can't even do D-Rank missions. Not to mention, the fact that they live in a peacful time makes it harder to create conflict. For all those factors, I feel like
the anime is doing a good job so far. We already knew from previous intervews with Kishi that this anime will be lighthearted, so it's not like it violated any expectations. What is happening is to be expected.
Manga: It's a big harder to judge. They wasted a lot of time (10 months?) doing the movie events, so that was pretty useless to us overall as it did not bring anything new to the table. In fact, you could argue it did more damage than good seeing how the drawing is extremely lackluster overall. Which means, we only have 1 chapter to judge the manga based on, and that chapter is the start of the new arc. I don't think it will be accurate to judge an arc/manga based on 1 original chapter. I can only hope that things will get better, but we will have to wait and see.
