Naruto is over and it won't be coming back. Boruto is just another spin-off cash grab, keep the name alive sell the merch and milk it as long as they can. Aimed at a new and younger audience.

It's the same with Dragonball. Together with Naruto and One Piece those are once every decade hits Toei/Shounen have on their hands. And if the writer throws his hat in the ring then Goku and Naruto have to keep going on. That means that Goku will go Super saiyan 7 Ultra Blue. And Naruto will be in Hokage dad mode. It also means that 80% of the original readers lose interest and only the die hard fans stick around.

Nobody is benefiting from a weekly Boruto manga because the sales are dogshit, nobody is really interested in the Boruto character because he doesn't sell. Everyone still checking in wants their little shot of old generation Naruto because that is what they grew up with. The lightsaber ninja sold 1.2 million copies in total in 2017. To put that in perspective, Shokugeki no Soma, a cooking manga sold double. One Piece sold 10x that amount.

Naruto, for us here is over. It's no use comparing the 2 or expecting the same because Boruto is just a watered down carbon copy, piggybacking of Naruto's name. Boruto is the Jar Jar Binks of manga, no Star Wars fan of the original triology will say that they love him, but they will go see the movie.

I believe that it will need at least more chapters from the manga in order to have a good story and then have a lot of ideas to make it each weak.

There is still a lot of plot from the manga. So the creator needs to set up everything first.
