Katon/Fire release is an elemental nature transformation which is performed by moulding superheated chakra inside the stomach before releasing it via the lungs and mouth.
Two clans which specialize in Katon are Uchiha and Sarutobi clans.
Most notable Katon users are, Madara Uchiha, Sasuke Uchiha, Obito Uchiha, Itachi Uchiha, Hiruzen Sarutobi, Asuma Sarutobi etc.
KKG's which involve fire release as an essential chakra transformation are:
YOTON - lava/magma release / Doton+Katon
Mei Terumi/ presented in a liquid form of lava
Ao / presented in the form of vulcanized rubber
Roshi the Jin of Son Goku / his Yoton takes a solidified magma form
Naruto / his Yoton is the same as Roshi's since they all get the abillity as such from Son Goku, though, Naruto version is a notch higher since he also adds Fuuton to it.
FUTTON - boil/vapour release / Doton+Suiton
Mei Terumi / presented in a form of acid mist
Kokuo/Naruto / Futton chakra enhanced Taijutsu
SHAKUTON - scorch release / Fuuton+Katon
Pakura / presented in the form of scorching hot balls
SEISEKKAITON - a form of Yoton
Kurotsuchi/ presented in a form of corrosive quicklime (seisekkai)
Known Kekkei Touta is JINTON - dust/particle release, which wouldn't be possible w/o Katon chakra. Most known users of this elemental release are Onoki and Muu, both former Tsuchikaendure

It's created by channeling chakra in user's lungs and then heating it, then releasing the accumulated energy into various forms; mouth, hands, legs etc. The Fire Release isn't only restricted to flame related attacks only, it can also come in the form of superheated ash or a misty flammable gas. Katon is the most excellent element to use in offensive operations, however this the only perk it as. This element suffers in supplementary or defensive usages. It's mostly used in destruction. Fire can also be combined with Wind, but be careful since it takes up to two timeframes. The weakness of Fire is water, naturally.

For this one, you need to perform said handseals. You then concetrate your chakra in your mouth and form oil, which you will then release it in the form of a large bullet of burning oil. It's quite handy, since it explodes. However note that you can also shoot several oil bullets, but with decreased destructing power. Also, the burning is longer due to the oil effect. Warning: you must know Toad summoning to use this.
Quite simple. You perform the tiger handseal and breathe fire from your mouth. It can be comined with Earth Release: Earth Dragon Bullet to ignite the rocky projectiles and make them stronger.

As the oil is exhaled, its ignited, creating a large bullet of burning oil. One can also shoot multiple smaller bullets which can be shot in a widespread. The advantage of this technique is that due to the oil present in it, it will explode if it comes in contact with water. Not only that but due to the oil, the burning effect is more lasting (spreading across surfaces or enemies where it might hit) as the oil burns for a longer period of time, even without the users chakra.
