So I have this old outdated pc that I want to use for surveilance cams.I think its a gigabyte ga-7vt600(-l) board with an amd 2200cpu. The story goes like this: I installed software system mechanic, ran it made a few changes,it then deleted important registry files(never using system mechanic again).with this I decided to reload windows xp sp3.after shutting down and cutting off all power I reconnected this ide hdd, started the system up,popped in windows and then the horror began. I got a disk read failure please enter system drive(something like that). I tried evrything I know+some google but still no luck.after much struggle I now get a "remove disks or other media" message but nothing is plugged in besides the ide hardrive which picks up by my friend (then had it formatted) ,and obviously a dvd drive. I'm thinking its the motherboard ide controllers. Maybe its already time for a mobo upgrade.I really want to solve this problemni mean its vintage hardware.any help would be much apreciated
