Chapter 13: Three Down—Fate
A few months have passed since Love's assassination. It was also during those months that warfare had began between the countries of Wind and Earth, and Wind and Fire. For the moment, Konoha has remained on the defensive defending against the attacks of Suna, however the expansion of Iwa into the Land of Fire, and neutral territories of the Land of Earth, Fire and Lightning has caused chaos throughout the shinobi world....
Shisui stands surrounded by several Sunagakure shinobi, he is in full Anbu gear, with his katana in hand. They are in a wide open field and they keep their distance from Shisui. Several other Suna shinobi lay spread out around the field around Shisui.
Suna Captain “Puppet team lead the attack, Barrier team remain on standby! Formation Scorpion!”
Suna Army “Right!”
Twelve shinobi wave their hands, sending their puppets to attack Shisui. Shisui evades masterfully and defends against all their strikes, hidden weapons, and jutsu. Shisui laces his blade with chakra and begins cutting down several puppets and cutting chakra strings. Several shuriken and projectiles head towards him from behind the puppets. Shisui drops his blade and immediately goes into his one-tailed cloak. He places his fists in the round and pulls up two large plates of earth and covers himself with them. All the projectiles hit plates. The plates fall after a moment and the Suna shinobi loose sight of Shisui.
Suna Captain “Sensor!”
Sensor “He's~”
Shisui springs up from beneath the sensor, with his blade and slashes him as he comes up. The shinobi falls and Shisui heads to the other sensors and kills them with amazing speed. The rest of the shinobi back away and put back their formation away from Shisui. The captain of the Suna shinobi takes out a scroll and summons three large puppets. He heads to Shisui and has his three puppets go after him. Shisui evades the puppets, although he appears to have difficulty. Shisui raises to two tails and he uses chakra arms and shoots out arms to grab one of the puppets from long ranged and throws it against one of the others. The third one still heads towards him and Shisui makes another chakra arm to intercept it. The Suna captain smiles and as the chakra arm hits his puppet, he laces his puppet with chakra and crabs Shisui's chakra arm. He gets his other puppets and get them to hold the other one. They pull Shisui in through the arms and Shisui releases his chakra arms and adds chakra to his own.
Shisui “Chakuraken: Kuroi Hane (Chakra Fist: Black Wing)
Shisui's chakra on his arms form in a giant wing of chakra and he swings his arms. The giant wing bashes against all three of the puppets and crush them, destroying most of them.
Suna Captain “Now!”
Suddenly from the earth chakra strings spring up and wrap themselves around Shisui. The captain wraps his chakra strings around Shisui as well and they restrain him. More shinobi run towards Shisui and they pull out scrolls. They make the snake seal as they place their scrolls on the ground and a large barrier surrounds Shisui and he's caught.
Suna Captain “Perfect execution. Send for the sealing team to come”
Suna-nin “Konoha was a fool to send their Jinchuuriki out on the front lines like that, now we'll possess the Kyuubi”
Shisui “Do you know what a Jinchuuriki is?”
Suna Captain “(smiles) nothing more then a military weapon to be used at a villages expense...don't try to talk your way out of this kid”
Shisui “Yes a military weapon...but the weapon isn't the Jinchuuriki by itself it's the Jinchuuriki's ability to control their power, is what makes them a weapon...how well they do so is what determines their power”
Suna Captain “What are you~”
Suddenly the captain hears the cries of his comrades and he looks behind him. Several of his shinobi are pulled underground out of nowhere.
Suna Captain “What?!”
Shisui “Should have asked yourself why I killed your sensors first when I had way to kill you and any of the others who could actually pose a problem”
Suddenly Several dozen clones of Shisui spring up from the earth, killing unsuspecting Suna shinobi, crushing puppets, and pulling them into the ground. Suddenly the shinobi holding up the barriers are pulled underground and Shisui is released.
Suna Captain “You bas~”
Shisui appears behind the shinobi and slits his neck before he finishes his sentence and the shinobi falls. Shisui turns and he sees all the Suna shinobi dead and he drops his kunai and heads to pick up his sword.
Shisui “Had I needed to use my full potential this wouldn't have lasted more then a few seconds, but since it wasn't needed why expend chakra...This is Shisui, objective completed, Path C7 is clear”
Anbu “Understood, return to base”
Shisui “Estimated number of is around 500 shinobi”
Anbu “Understood, Sabotage Division is clear”
Shisui sheathes his sword and walks away from the battle field...Sunagakure has invaded the Land of Fire's territory. The Anbu of Konoha has been organized into an Ambush/Sabotage unit, to act as Konoha's primary intelligence and hindrance division to keep Suna at bay. The mission here was to lead an assault on a Sunagakure supply base set up along the boarder and destroy it, preventing supplies from getting to the Suna army.
At Hokage Residence
The preventive strike against Suna's army was a success. A few hours passed since the Anbu Sabotage and Ambush Division attacked the Suna supplier force and forced the rest of Suna to retreat back behind their own boarders. Despite this success for Konoha, things are far from being settled. Shisui stands in front of Tobirama and Mito, giving his report on the mission's success. Mito strays her eye contact with Shisui, still feeling her guilt.Tobirama “Good work Shisui”
Shisui “What is my next mission?”
Tobirama “Nothing...You're on standby, if we need you for anything we'll contact you...but for now take a break and rest”
Shisui “Yes Nidaime-sama”
Shisui bows to the Hokage and walks out the door. Tobirama turns and looks at Mito, who still as her depressed look on her face.
Tobirama “Mito-chan, I'm sorry...I'm the one~”
Mito “I'm the one that said it...just leave it alone please...I never want to speak on this again”
Tobirama “Mito-chan~”
Shinobi “Tobirama-sama! Shodaime Mizukage has been assassinate, as well as Shodaime Tsuchikage”
Tobirama “What?!”
Shinobi “It was an ambush. A small group of 50 Iwa shinobi, including Shodaime Tsuchikage attacked Kirigakure along with the shinobi of Yukigakure. They ambushed Kiri and drew out Shodaime. Shodaime defeated the Iwa and Tsuchikage but sacrificed himself to protect the rest of his village from the Yukigakure shinobi.”
Tobirama “*Kiyoshi-sama...* Is that all the information you have for me at this moment?”
Shinobi “No sir, Kiri is still repairing itself but a new Mizukage has been chosen, Musoumaru.”
Tobirama “His apprentice...I hear his prowess in genjutsu are unsurpassed by any shinobi”
Shinobi “Yes...we received all of this through message from Nidaime Mizukage...He said that he wanted to speak with you Tobirama-sama”
Tobirama “*Kiyoshi probably left it to him...* Very well set up a meeting, but keep it privet”
Shinobi “Yes Tobirama-sama”
The shinobi leaves and Tobirama gets up and turns to the mirror.
Mito “Tobirama-sama...was it about that thing you told me about earlier?...about~”
Tobirama “Yes...probably...”
Mito “Kiri has done such a good job keeping themselves out of the affairs of the other villages...I'm not so sure that will be the case anymore. This incident with Kiri...certainly it's going to get out to Suna and Kumo...and then what? Tobirama...things are turning out...they're spiraling out of control”
Tobirama “I know that Mito...This is even worse then before...I honestly think...that this time war is unavoidable”
Tobirama leaves the room and Mito looks at him as he does.
At Konoha Cemetery
Hina and Neji stand in front of a tombstone. Neji has his hand on his cousin's shoulder as she looks down depressed at it. They stand in front of Tsubaki's grave looking down at it. Despite Neji's attitude, even he expresses sadness as he looks down at the grave of his former sensei.Shizuko “Hina...Neji, what are you two doing here?”
They turn to see their classmate Shizuko standing behind them, holding a bouquet of flowers in her hands.
Neji “For the same reason you're here I suspect...paying our wishes to sensei”
Shizuko “I never thought I'd see such a face on you Neji-kun”
Neji “Don't get used to it or anything...”
Shizuko looks over at Hina who wipes her face, preventing tears from flowing down her face.
Shizuko “*Hina...*”
Ko “Hey guys...”
Ko and Kai walk up together, both of them holding roses.
Hina “Ko-kun”
Ko “(Blushes) Hey Hina...”
Shika “Well it looks like everybody decided to come today”
Shika and Ino come up as well. As the two girls walk towards their fellow companions they all face one another.
Ko “Jeez...it feels like we're in class again...”
Kai “Where's Misa?”
Ino “She went off to the training hall right after class again”
Shika “She didn't even stay long enough to let us talk to her”
They all go up and they place the flowers down together. They turn again and look at each other in silence and they all begin to laugh for an unknown reason.
Ino “Graduations are coming up in a couple weeks”
Kai “Yeah...”
The group stands in silence and the girls, even Ino and Shika begin to tear up. Shizuko and Hina are more out with it but Ino tries to hide her tears. The boys of the group don't know how to react and they try to comfort them. Suddenly Shisui is seen walking up the path heading towards the group of academy students. They all turn and look at him as he approaches.
Hina “(softly) Shisui-sensei...”
Ko “You know that guy Hina?”
Neji “He saved Hiraku-sama a few years back”
Ino “He was Tsubaki-sensei's teammate”
Shisui walks past all of them and kneels down putting his hand on her grave and closing his eyes in silence.
Ko “Hey big guy you feeling alright?”
Shisui's eyes open as his prayers are interrupted, and turns his head to Ko...he turns his head back without acknowledging him.
Ko “Hey!”
Hina “Ko-kun...”
Shisui gets up and begins to walk away, but Ko cuts off his path.
Ko “Hey I know you're sad but you can at least~”
Shisui “I'm not sad”
Ko “What do you mean you're not sad?! Why are you here then?!”
Shisui “Showing my respects to a dead comrade”
The rest of the crowd is surprised at his statement.
Ko “You mean a dead friend”
Shisui “I never had a friend”
Ko “What are you talking about? Tsubaki was you're friend, you were teammates weren't you?!”
Shisui “Who was she to you?”
Kai “She's our sensei.”
Shisui “I see”
Shisui continues past Ko, walking away from him.
Ko “Hey I'm not done with you yet! Did you even care about Tsubaki?!”
Shisui “I used to, but not very recently”
Kai “Then why did you, come? It seems rather pointless to pay your respects to somebody you didn't care about”
Shisui “She helped me complete my mission, so I owe her at least that”
Neji “What do you mean she helped you complete your last mission?”
Shisui “Classified”
Ko “I don't care tell us?!”
Shisui “She died giving me an opening to take down a target, if you're so inclined”
The kids react in shock.
Shika “So you mean she sacrificed herself for you!”
Shisui “Yes”
Ko “And you don't care about her for that?!”
Shisui “It's not my job”
Ko clinches his fist, while Kai's eyes activate with a one tome Sharingan. Neji's eyes widen as he looks at his classmates about to strike and he runs over to them to try and stop them but he can't. Ko and Kai rush towards him in a rage.
Ko “YOU”
Kai “BASTARD”
They lash out at him but Shisui appears behind both children, placing his hands on their shoulders. The react in surprise at his speed, as well as the others. Shisui fixes Kai's arm with his hands and fixes Ko's stance by kicking it slightly.
Shisui “Uchiha child, you were telegraphing your attack, you're clans specializes in predicting the attacks of your opponents, don't give them the edge by telling them how you're going to move...Inuzuka child I presume, you would've lost balance, had your opponent simply side stepped you as I did. Had I not caught you, you would've lost your footing, allowing an opening. Posture and stances are everything in taijutsu, remember that”
Shisui leaves the two confused and he continues on his way, leaving the scene.
Ko “What's with that guy?”
Hiraku “It's none of your business and both of you should show more respect for your superiors”
Hiraku Hyuuga appears walking towards Neji and Hina.
Hina “Nii-san...”
Hiraku “Hina, Neji it's time to go now”
Neji “Yes Hiraku-sama...come on Hina”
The three Hyuugas leave and walk out of the cemetery...The remaining few bow in silence to their sensei and they leave the scene as well...
As Shisui walks through the village, he heads into the backwaters of the village, to the south. It strays away from the main streets of Konoha and the activity in the area is very minimum and generally silent. It is early spring and as Shisui walks through a path, lined by trees he sees thousands of blue violets flowing through the air and in the trees. Shisui looks at them and feels a hypnotic sensation that stops him in his tracks, causing him to just stare at them. Shisui is knocked out of his trance when he hears the cries of a little girl. He sees, at the end of the path, a little girl holding onto the top of a tree, with her eyes closed, crying.
Mei “(crying) Somebody please help me! I'm really scared, please!”
She begins to feel the vibrations on the tree and she opens her eyes to see Shisui walking up the tree heading towards her. Her eyes widen in fear.
Mei “SOMEBODY HELP ME! MONSTER”
As Shisui gets closer to her and begins to extend his hand, she releases the trunk and begins to move herself away from Shisui onto the branch of the tree. She looses her footing and she slips off the tree. She closes her eye and yells as she falls. She feels a tug on her shirt and opens her eyes. Shisui's on the ground, holding her the collar of her blouse. He puts her down and she runs behind the tree, hiding from him.
Mei “Please...don't hurt me...”
Shisui “Do you know who I am?”
Mei “...my...my mommy and daddy say that you're an evil monster...”
Shisui “I see...(looks up at the flowers) Why were you climbing that tree?”
Mei “...I...I wanted the flower...it's pretty”
Shisui “I see...give me your hand”
Mei moves back as Shisui walks towards her and offers his hand to her.
Shisui “Do you know where you live?”
Mei remains silent. She doesn't know where she lives, but she knows she's afraid of Shisui...
Shisui “Give me your hand”
Shisui says this with a more assertive sternness in his voice and the child is more afraid of disobeying Shisui. She reluctantly holds out her hand and Shisui reaches to grab it. To her surprise his hand is soft and his grip if gentle yet firm. He pulls her in gently and picks her up. He continues to walk down the path, with the girl in his arms and he begins heading towards her home.
Shisui “Do you know what flowers those were?”
Mei “They...they were violets...but they're different then normal...they're blue”
Shisui “Do you know what the 'Blue Violet' stands for?”
Mei “...I don't know...it just looks beautiful...”
Shisui “As, does what it stands for...”
Mei holds onto Shisui tightly and closes her eyes. She feels a sensation, which makes her smile for an unknown reason.
Mei “*So warm...so comfortable*”
Shisui stops and Mei opens her eyes. He puts her down, she turns around and see's her yard and her house. She smiles and she turns back to Shisui.
Mei “How did you know where I lived?”
Shisui “Intuition”
Shisui looks down at the young girl, who's face towards him has remained the same, fearful, she's forgotten that moment ago where she felt the warmness and gentleness of Shisui's embrace, and she's returned to fear of him. Suddenly a kunai goes flying towards Shisui, he moves his head, so it hit his headband and it causes it to crack.
Father “MEI! GET AWAY FROM HIM”
The girl turns to see her parents running towards them. The father puts himself between Shisui and his daughter and the mother grabs her and brings her back.
Father “You son of a bitch, what were you doing to my daughter?!”
Shisui “Returning her”
Father “What?!”
Shisui “Goodbye”
Shisui turns around and begins walking away from the man. He clinches his fist and begins to make seals.
Mei “Daddy stop please!”
The man stops and looks at his daughter, a split second later Shisui disappears.
Mother “Mei-chan, did he do anything to you? Did he hurt you?”
Mei “No he didn't. He caught me when I fell out of a tree”
Mother “I told you to stop doing that, next time you want something ask me or your father”
Mei “Sorry mommy...I just wanted a flower...could you get me one please”
Mother “You want another one?”
Mei “Another?”
She feels in her hair and she pulls out a flower.
Mei “*but I didn't get this...*”
The little girl looks to where her father was standing, still on guard and she looks into the distance.
Several Hours Pass
Tobirama and a convoy of Anbu arrive in Kirigakure in secret. They arrive in the cover of the mist and as they enter Kiri, a tall, slender man stands waiting. Tobirama “Musoumaru-sama”
Musoumaru “Tobirama-sama, it's good to meet you, my master told me a lot about you and your brother during my training”
Tobirama “Speaking of Kiyoshi-sama...Is he the reason you've asked me here?”
Musoumaru “That is exactly the reason...please follow me”
The Mizukage walks and Tobirama ans his shinobi follow. They walk for several minute until they get to the Mizukage residence. The Mizukage makes a few seals and places his hand on the ground. A second door, next to the first one appears and he opens it.
Tobirama “Genjutsu”
Musoumaru “And a seal, it can only be seen once the jutsu is deactivated and the seal is released...it's one of the many safe guards implemented by Kiyoshi-sensei and myself”
He holds the door for Tobirama to enter, however as the Anbu attempt to enter the Mizukage stops them.
Musoumaru “I'm sorry but this is where the line ends for you, you shall wait here”
Anbu “Tobirama-sama is~”
Tobirama “It's alright, I'll be fine”
Anbu “But~”
Tobirama “I will be fine, wait here, that's an order”
The Anbu bow their heads, and the Mizukage follows behind Tobirama-sama and closes the door, which disappears as he does. The Mizukage takes the lead in the passage way, unlocking all the safe guards and traps within the passage. As they reach the end of the passage, the area opens up into a large room, and in a display case, with a seal on it lay a giant scroll, with the Kanji for “Master” on it.
Tobirama “The Scroll of Masters”
Musoumaru “I believe my predecessor showed you a piece of it before during the Chuunin Exams”
Tobirama “Yes he did”
The Mizukage makes a few seals and places his hand on the case. The case disappears and the scroll drops, standing up right. The scroll twirls and unravels and several thousand tiny sealing inscriptions are within it, with the exception of the middle, which remains with a huge blank spot.
Musoumaru “This is the legacy my predecessor left for the future generations of Mizukage, to lead and protect our village with...That is not the only thing my fair sensei departed with however. He departed with another gift to our entire village...which is in my hands, and the hands of the villagers to protect”
Tobirama “I see”
Musoumaru “He didn't tell me what the two of you spoke on during the exams, nor did he permit me to ask. He simply told me...that if he were to parish before the time came, to permit you to this scroll, for the sake of your village. Kiyoshi-sensei, was a very wise man, even if he was young, I've never questioned in his judgment and I don't plan to...he gave you a key to one of these jutsu I presume”
Tobirama “Yes...”
**Flashback**
Note: During the Chuunin Exams Intermission
Kiyoshi and Tobirama stand, concealed within a dark, within the arena, closed off from the rest of the people outside. Kiyoshi stands with his back to Tobirama.
Kiyoshi “Tobirama...I've done as good a job as I possibly can keeping my village out of the affairs of the other nations. Being located on the Archipelago, separated from the main continent helps”
Tobirama “I agree, you have been maintaining your village well...but is it enough for your village and your country to actually live?”
Kiyoshi “You're referring to our economy...I admit it is difficult to remain at such a high level with no trade, or room for expansion really, however the resources we do have allow us to maintain an...inhabitable life style”
Tobirama “Is this what you wanted to talk to me about?”
Kiyoshi “Part of it....Konoha, and the Land of Fire is the center of everything concerning the Shinobi Feudal System. Konoha was the first village, and, it remains, to this point, the strongest militarily, and economically out of all the other villages. You and your brother have done well at maintaining your village to be as prosperous as it has...but ask yourself this...with everything that's going on...will you be able to protect your village from war?”
Tobirama “It is my duty, to take off from where Hashirama-Nii-san left off, and keep all of the Great Nations out of war”
Kiyoshi “I've admired you and Hashirama more then any other shinobi I've ever met. My first experience in war, against you two made who I am today...Hashirama was a true shinobi, and a true harborer of peace...as you are Tobirama...but nobody...even your brother could have prevented war forever, especially now that the arrangements have settled down into the norm of the societies, and the desire for even more power has risen...Once power is granted to one, they first learn to accommodate to it...once they have, they seek more, and more power. The seek limitless power, even after they've been established as invincible...that is the nature of our world, and that is the nature it will remain in until there are more people like you and Hashirama. Two men can't change world Tobirama”
Tobirama “But I at least have to try”
Kiyoshi “Tobirama...don't let your own goals, no matter how true they may be, come before those who depend on you. You're Nidaime Hokage of Konohagakure. You're village depends on you for leadership, guidance, and protection. You need to remember that”
Tobirama “But if I can keep the other villages from war, it will also keep Konoha~”
Kiyoshi “Remember where your responsibility lay, in the village that you've sworn your life to, in the village that was handed down to you by your brother, who you loved. Your responsibility is to your village first, and to others later. It is the sad truth, but the morals that you and your village carry are not strong enough yet to reach that of the others. Konoha and this new world is still in it's infancy, only when it matures can it possibly hope to achieve what it was truly created for...with that I ask you again...will you be able to protect your village from war? Will you be able prevent that plauge from your coming to your village?”
Tobirama “I've tried to for so long...but the envolope has been pushed too far. Konoha is the center of this system as you said...everything you've said is true...and quite frankly my selfish pursuit has opened Konoha to fire, it has left my village to threat of the other nations for my constant meddling”
Kiyoshi “It isn't your fault for trying to pursue, what is desired by all those who are true at heart, however it is now, that you must be clear on your position as Hokage, as leader of this village, in order to protect what you've dedicated to.”
Tobirama “Konoha has always been my first concern...I will defend it with my life, and I will make sure that it remains strong”
Kiyoshi “That's what I wanted to hear”
Kiyoshi turns around and makes a few seals and bites his finger, drawing blood. He places his hand on the ground and uses the summoning jutsu. He summons snow white rabbit.
Kiyoshi “I've kept myself, and my village out of the affairs of the other Great Nations, for the most part in the event to prevent war. When I first started Kiri, I started it for my own selfish reasons. For my goals of peace as well, however as time progressed I realized that I could never achieve it on my own...and that I was sacrificing my village for it. The pain that I've went through, I never wanted any to go through ever again, however I endangered those that willingly took to me, and followed me. I knew that I couldn't bring it to the whole world, but if anything I would maintain peace in my own village. Those that depended on me, those that I've come to love with all my heart....I've dedicated my entire regime as Mizukage to protecting them from war, and that's what I want to leave behind to them. As long as I possibly can. I may have separated my village from the outside world, and we may suffer when it comes to economical situations, however I've kept them from the pain that I've gone through...and that's enough for me.”
Kiyoshi makes two seals and the rabbit begins lighting up in blue flames, however it doesn't react with pain. The blue fire stands where the rabbit once stood.
Kiyoshi “Tobirama, I've left a legacy to my successors...The Scroll of Masters. Through my independent study, I have figured out the riddle to ninjutsu. The scroll that I have made, possesses every jutsu imaginable within it's confines”
Tobirama “How can that be?!”
Kiyoshi “It was a code, created by the Sage of 6 Paths, however not even he managed to decipher is own code before he died. He figured out that every jutsu has a coding to it. Those codes are unlocked by the hand seals we make, which puts the codes together like a puzzle, and creates the jutsu, through the addition of chakra it becomes a reality. I've figured this out myself, however, like the Sage I was not able to figure out every code. There are literally millions among millions of codes, and from those codes different combinations can be formed, and an almost limitless amount of jutsu. We, use reasoning, physics, science to develop our jutsu, and things that seem impossible only seem that way because our minds can't comprehend it. No human can completely decipher all those codes...however through time different codes can be deciphered and different combinations can be created...this can essentially lead to those understating these codes to create jutsu that would seem impossible, and also copy kekkei genkai.”
Tobirama “If there is such a code...how was the Sage able to create it, yet not understand it...and for that matter what about you?”
Kiyoshi “It is believed...that the Sage created this code completely by accident...however others who have studied as I have believe that it was a gift from the Gods, onto the Sage to pass down to generation to generation. My studies have allowed me to locate this code and to seal it within my scroll”
Tobirama “Kiyoshi-sama...”
Kiyoshi “Place your hand in the fire Tobirama”
Tobirama “Why?”
Kiyoshi “It possesses a key to a jutsu that I found within the scroll upon my sealing the criptic code within it. It is not much of an leap through jutsu in the shinobi world...but it possesses power...power enough, that I believe, will allow you to protect your village if you ever need to...Tobirama, if the time comes when war knocks at Konoha's door, I will allow you access to this, one jutsu within my scroll”
Tobirama “Kiyoshi...why would you entrust an outsider, to your village's possessions?”
Kiyoshi “Because the first step in obtaining peace...is finding, and aiding those who seek it as well. I've known you for a long time Tobirama and I trust you just as I would trust any shinobi in my own village, if not so, maybe a little more. This is as far as my assistance to you and Konoha will go, but remember, when the time comes when there are enough people like us, we can unite, and when that time comes...generations after our own death...I know that it will prevail, and our souls will be at peace”
**End Flashback**
Tobirama's hand ignites in blue flames and he places it in the center of the scroll. The flames leave his hand and stay on the scroll. Suddenly the fire turns into a large. Tobirama takes out a scroll of his own from his pouch and places his hand on the Scroll of Masters. The seal forms across his arm and onto his body (over his armor) and he places his hand on his scroll and it transfers.
Tobirama “Thank you Nidaime-sama”
Musoumaru “Don't thank me, thank Kiyoshi-sama...the way he spoke of you so highly, I will pray for Konoha's safety in whatever comes your way”
Tobirama “Then I thank you for that”
Musoumaru seals the scroll again and leads the way out.
Tobirama “*Kiyoshi, thank you...and I promise that one day there will be peace in our world*”
The two Kage walk through the passage, Tobirama with a gift from Kiyoshi in his pocket.
Several Days Pass
Almost a week has passed since Tobirama's expedition to Kiri, and receiving an unknown jutsu from Kiyoshi's scroll. After Tobirama's return he began setting up the shinobi forces into war divisions and platoons, preparing for battle. Tobirama sits in his chambers, studying the jutsu passed on to him by Kiyoshi. Mito runs into the room suddenly with urgent news.Mito “Tobirama-sama, boarder patrol units report advancing forces from two flanks!”
Tobirama “More Suna?”
Mito “No, it's not just Suna, it's both Suna and Iwa troops!”
Tobirama “What?!”
Mito “The Iwa troops are advancing through the Land of Waterfalls, and the Suna troops are advancing through the Land of Rivers”
Tobirama “Send Division's 2-4. Two and three head to deal with the Iwa shinobi, send the fourth division to deal with the advancing Suna shinobi”
Mito “But sir, the Anbu Division is already on the boarder closes to the Suna troops. If we take three more divisions our forces will thinned here”
Tobirama “We still have enough shinobi to deal with our own protection, we have to push them back before the three forces meet in the Land of Fire. It'll bee too devastating to the land and Konoha could be caught in the cross fire.”
Mito “Right away Tobirama-sama”
Tobirama “Tighten the security here and put the village guard on high alert.”
Mito “Yes sir”
Mito heads out and follows the orders of her leader. Several shinobi, in standby bases just outside Konoha are deployed with their divisions to fight. Konoha, lays right in between the other four Great Nations, and is bordered by several other nations with. Konoha is fighting two separate battles, on two different fronts...
Hours pass as the two divisions on both take part in battle. Konoha fights Iwa in the Land of Waterfalls, while the other divisions fight Suna in the Land of Rivers. Miyagi leads the divisions against the Iwa troops.
Miyagi “Get the bomb squads in position, and cover them”
The sound of clashing metal, the sight of hundreds of shinobi going head to head in full blown battle goes on for miles. Konoha's troops are set up in a double crescent barrier formation. The front line troops start in the center and steadily curve outwards from both sides, almost to a half circle. A a second line does the same thing within that first line several feet back. This formation works to create a perimeter around the main force, used to set up their traps. The first line is the first line of defense and the second line acts as a back up. However given the event any shinobi breaks through the first line, they're surrounded by the first and second lines. This formation is known as the “Crescent Moon Barrier”.
Iwa Captain “Doton: Ryuusei Hitoame (Earth Release: Meteor Shower)
The captain of the Iwagakure force creates massive stones of earth overhead and they begin to rain down on the Konoha forces.
Miyagi “Barrier Squad!”
The barrier squad behind both lines of the Konoha force sit in a large circle, protected from all sides and they make barrier large enough to coat themselves and the second line of fighters. The front lines scatter, which allows the Iwa shinobi to get inside, however the barrier prevents them from getting through the second line. Miyagi makes quick seals.
Miyagi “Suiton: Suihoha (Water Release: Water Shockwave)
A large vortex of water heads towards the Iwa shinobi and begins to drown them. The Konoha shinobi from the front lines have positioned themselves behind Miyagi while the second line and beyond are safe due to the barrier. Despite this the barrier squad begins to have trouble maintaining the barrier due to it's size. Several of the Iwa shinobi are washed out by Miyagi's jutsu. As the water calms down the barrier squad releases the barrier and the Konoha troops inside, trap the remaining Iwa forces.
A several more minutes pass by before the shinobi of Iwa mount a retreat. Miyagi and the rest of the Konoha troops help push them back beyond their boarders, back into the Land of Earth.
Konoha-nin “General Miyagi the Iwa troops have passed back into their own boarders”
Miyagi “Keep them at bay, set up a defensive line inside the Land of Waterfalls and on our own boarder.”
Konoha-nin “Yes sir”
Hours pass and the same result against the Suna shinobi happens, in favor of Konoha. All divisions participating in today's battles remain at the posts. Night falls and the victory appears to go to Konoha, however there were substantial losses on Konoha's side from both ends. As night falls, everything seems fine for the Konoha troops on both fronts. In the night shadows move through the Land of Rain. The shadows are that of Iwa shinobi moving through the night. As they reach the boarder between the Land of Rain and Fire they stop. The man who leads this brigade is wrapped, entirly in bandages. He wares a black headband.
Muu “Their rounds on this pathway have ended, the bulk of their force is still up keeping them at bay in the Land of Waterfalls”
Iwa General “Muu-sama, shall we head in?”
Muu “I'll clear the way”
Muu makes the tiger seal and he begins to disappear. The boarder is littered with a fair amount of Konoha shinobi, but nowhere near the number of the others.
Sensor “We're all clear, I'm switching out”
Konoha-nin “Alright, switch with Kota Inuzuka, we'll use his nose to sniff out any enemy chakra”
Muu simply walks through the field of shinobi without making a sound or anything. As he gets to the center of the area he begins to levitate and suddenly the sensor picks up the chakra used for Muu to levitate.
Note: the flight technique
Konoha-nin “What is it?!”
Sensor “Right above us!”
All the shinobi in the field look up as Muu's body becomes visible again. He makes three seals and holds his hands out. A small sphere in the center of a conical formation. The shinobi on the ground get out their weapons and get on guard. The sensor-nin eyes widen.
Sensor “Noway...that chakra”
They all throw their weapons at Muu, however he releases the pyramid in his hands and it surrounds the entire field of Konoha shinobi, and the weapons are simply bounce off the perimeter it makes.
Muu “Jiton: Genkai Hakuri no Jutsu (Dust Release: Detachment of the Primitive World Technique)”
The orb of energy in the center expands and immediately dust begins to spread out in the area. Despite the size of the container the dust manages to cover the entire field of range in only a few seconds. As the dust clears there is absolutely no sign of any of the Konoha shinobi. They've all been completely obliterated by the jutsu. Muu levitates down and the Iwa shinobi storm the field.
Iwa-nin “That was...what kind of power was that, they were all obliterated in a few seconds by that large cloud”
Iwa General “That's the power of Nidaime Tsuchikage. Jiton (Dust Release). It completely obliterates his opponents in a few seconds. Once they're caught in that container, there is no way out”
The Iwagakure shinobi storm through the Land of Fire, their advance from before, was merely a rouse.
Dawn In Konoha
The sun is just peaking over the land. Shisui stands in the path he was earlier, with Mei. He looks up and is bewildered by the violets. Suddenly he hears the screams emerging from the main streets of Konoha. Shisui quickly runs to the scene and he sees dozens of Iwa shinobi within Konoha sees the blades of his comrades clashing with the blades of the shinobi from the Land of Earth.Shisui “An Ambush!”
Several shinobi begin to spot Shisui and they surround him. Shisui's eyes intensify and he immediately goes three tails and kills the five shinobi that surround him in a less then a second. Shisui heads into battle and begins killing several Iwa shinobi, without hesitation....
Mito “Tobirama-sama!”
Mito runs in his room and see's Tobirama looking out the window and sees his village being attacked.
Tobirama “Mito recall division 3 immediately and and begin evacuating the village!”
She nods and complies with his orders and she heads out.
Misa “Uncle Tobi, what's going on?!”
Tobirama “Misa, I want you to head to the mountain now and get into the safe house”
Misa “Uncle Tobi let me help you, I can fight~”
Tobirama “DO AS I TELL YOU NOW”
Tobirama raises his voice and his emotion rises as well and Misa says nothing more she does what her uncle asks of her and she heads out. Back at the village several Konoha shinobi begin falling dead out of nowhere. Foot prints appear as an unknown shinobi walks through simply cutting down. Several shuriken go flying from every direction to a single spot and they get deflected from one area. Immediately after that 6 clones of Shisui surround that area in a circle. The hidden body begins to reappear and it's revealed to be Muu.
Muu “Cleaver deciphering my location...you must be the Kyuubi Jinchuuriki of Konoha”
Shisui “Correct...you must be leading this fray of Iwa shinobi. You will pay for attacking my village”
Muu “So young and arrogant...I am the Tsuchikage of Iwagakure”
Shisui's eyes widen and he gets more serious after hearing the that Muu is the Tsuchikage.
Muu “Even if the rumors of you are true, being able to control your Bijuu, you will still never be able to defeat me. It's time to play hide and seek”
Muu begins to vanish and almost immediately after he does, three of Shisui's clones are taken out. However the remaining three, including Shisui pounce on Muu's location. Despite the speed of the four combine, Muu manages to escape.
Muu “*I have more important matters to get to, then dealing with a Jinchuuriki right now*”
Muu manages to escape from Shisui and he heads onwards. He uses his levitation jutsu and gets above Konoha. He begins to reappear and the Iwa shinobi see him as he levitates.
Iwa General “Muu-sama has begun, protect him at all costs!”
Several of the Iwa shinobi begin getting on the roof tops of houses and they begin blocking all projectiles that are directed towards Muu. Muu begins charging up another one of his jutsu, however the set up is much longer, indicating a much larger, and more powerful attack. From the window, Tobirama sees Muu from his window and his eyes widen. He summons his Sword of the Thunder God and he heads out, through his window. Konoha is still in a frantic state, several civilians running to takes shelter, and Iwa shinobi killing everybody in sight. Shisui looks up and see's Muu and he also sees his jutsu. Shisui goes full six-tails in an instant and he gets to a roof. The Iwa shinobi on the top of the roof try to fend him off but Shisui goes through and kills all in his way immediately. As Muu charges up his jutsu, Shisui begins charging up a huge ball of massive energy. Just as Muu releases his jutsu over all of Konoha, Shisui releases his Bijuudama (Tailed Beast Ball). The energy emitted from Shisui's attack destroys the dust particles and even shatters the barrier surrounding Konoha. Muu's eyes widen as he sees the massive energy from Shisui's attack and just barley manages to get out of the way, a split second after it's released. The Iwa shinobi as well as everybody else who witnessed it were in shock of the power Shisui displayed...however after his attack Shisui's six tailed form was released and he falls to the ground below, barely conscious.
Shisui “*My chakra...I can't move*”
Just as Shisui is about to pass out he hears more cries of innocent civilians. He manages to move his head and sees innocent civilians being slaughtered by Iwa shinobi. He see's his comrades struggling with the large force of shinobi, however Shisui's body is extremely heavy. He sees a woman and her held up by the neck in front of her child who is crying.
Shisui “*No...No...NO*”
As if it were a reflex Shisui leaped towards the Iwa shinobi, hitting him with a full body attack. The woman is released and she goes over to her daughter. They both look at Shisui with fear as he pants heavily. Several shuriken head towards the three of them and the two females close their eyes. A dark shadow comes over them and they see Shisui covering them with his body. As the shuriken hit Shisui his face expresses the pain of it all. He gets off of the two and tells them to run. They get up and as they run they see Shisui turn his back to them. Several shuriken are embedded in his back and blood flows down his body. Shisui pants heavily and staggers slightly. Shisui sees two Konoha shinobi surrounded by several Iwa shinobi and his body moves him towards them at an amazing speed. He kills two of the Iwa shinobi instantly and gets the attention of the others. They surround Shisui and the two Konoha shinobi flee, leaving Shisui behind. They begin attacking Shisui. Shisui manages to defeat the remaining 6 shinobi but his shot reflexes, and weakened state left him unable to effectively evade even their most basic attacks and he was cut and beat several times.
Shisui “*Konoha*”
Shisui continues more of the same. He goes to aid the villagers and his comrades. His body moves as if everything were a reaction involuntarily. What should bring him down, doesn't, Shisui continues to fight and protect his comrades and his villagers. After several minutes of fighting Shisui's body is littered with weapons, all over his body. His torso, stomach, lefts arms. His mouth flows with blood, and the pain that he feels is unbearable, however he still stands.
Shisui “*Konoha*”
Shisui then sees the man who attacked him only a day earlier. Mei's father, his leg is wounded and he squares off against four Iwa shinobi. Shisui lands on his feet in front of him.
Father “You?!”
Shisui “(coughs up blood) Go...now...”
The man is surprised to see Shisui standing in front of him, not only because of the massive injuries but also remembering what he did to Shisui earlier. Shisui heads to the four shinobi and begins fighting them hand to hand. He takes one of the kunai out of his arm with his teeth and begins slashing away at them. He kills two of them, but the other two manage to evade Shisui's weak attack. Shisui stumbles and falls to his knee and the two shinobi head in to take advantage however Mei's father steps in and defends both him. Shisui looks up with half conscious eyes, as the man holds off the two shinobi. Shisui leaps up and cuts both of them and the other shinobi finishes them.
Mei “Daddy!”
The man turns around and sees Mei running towards him and Shisui. His eyes widen in horror to see his daughter.
Father “MEI GET OUT OF HERE”
Mei “(crying) They got mommy!”
The little girl breaks down in her father's arms as she tells her father that her mother has been killed. The shinobi's eyes widen as well and he begins to cry. Shisui walks towards them staggeringly, the shinobi looks in his eyes and sees tears flowing down Shisui's face. Mei looks up and sees them as well.
Shisui “Please run...(coughs up blood) please...”
Two more shinobi appear before the three of them. A kunai goes towards father, he tries to stand but his leg wound prevents him. Shisui grabs his collar and throws the shinobi behind him and takes the kunai in the side. Another shinobi makes a few seals
Iwa-nin “Shuriken Kage Bushin no Jutsu (Shuriken Shadow Clone Technique)
Several shuriken head towards them. Shisui places himself in front of Mei and takes a kunai and begins defending...
Dozens among dozens of shuriken head towards Shisui...*block...block...hit* Shisui blocks as many as he can but he's still hit. *block....block...hit...block...hit...hit...hit...block* over and over again he keeps getting hit but continues to block, protecting the little girl and her father. As the shower of shuriken begins to fade Shisui grabs one of the shuriken and throws his kunai along with the shuriken at both shinobi dropping them. As those two Mei reaches up towards Shisui, but he falls next to her...
Mei “Why...why did you save me, and my daddy? Why did you save us after we called you a monster”
She looks into Shisui's eyes which are dark, starring blankly into space. Blood flows down his mouth as well as tears run down his face.
Mei “Why...did you help us and Konoha?”
Shisui “I...Love...Konoha...”
Mei “Why?...why do you?”
Shisui “I...love my village...It's weird but...I don't have a reason why...It's so odd...No matter how much I tried, no matter how much pain I was caused...I could never stop caring”
Shisui's remembers the when Kagami left the village...he felt guilt that he couldn't stop him...he hurt deep inside when he saw Kagami's body in the hands of Tobirama...he was horrified to see Tsubaki as the one protecting him...He hurt deep inside trying to suppress who he truly was...that last bit of light...that last bit of pureness in his heart was an undying love for his village, that never wavered...no matter how much pain Konoha had caused him, no matter how much he tried to act as if he didn't care...he couldn't stop. What allowed him to do what he did moments ago was his powerful love.
Shisui “*I...don't....want...to die...it still hurts...to die with pain in your heart...it still hurts after you die*”
Shisui's eyes begin to shift to look at Mei. He sees her lips moving but he can't hear her. His face is saddened with tears, burning with a desire never went away...just as his love never faded...his desire to be loved never faded as well. That pain in his heart is killing him slowly and painfully. He burns for the affection that he's forgotten the feel of, he aches for it. Suddenly he notices the similarities in Mei's face to that of his mother. Shisui raises his hand weakly and touches her face. Mei stops speaking and looks with sorrow at him. Shisui's vision begins to go black slowly.
Shisui “You...look...just like my mommy...please...I beg you...even if you don't mean it...I just want to hear it..Tell me...tell me that you love me”
Mei begins shaking Shisui's body and yelling for him to hold on but Shisui can't hear her...
Shisui “*Kagami...Tsubaki...Miyagi...Mother...Father....Everybody...I love you...(laughs heart broken) when...will I hear those words?*”
Shisui's vision goes completely black and his eyes close. His headband falls off his head and it shatters...in his headband two pictures fall out, two pictures that he has always kept in his headband since his becoming a shinobi. In a dark void of nothingness Shisui (his soul) sits in the fetal position...Shisui Uzumaki...the last member of team Miyagi has fallen...
This is the path...the destiny of a Jinchuuriki who loves...but never receives love...The sacrifice of a heart that gives even beyond its limits...Their unfortunate fate...is an eternity alone...forgotten...When one is forgotten....they vanish from existence...when a person lay alone in eternity...and is forgotten on earth, that is when they truly die...That pain, has been brought to a man who never faded from his path of dedication to the village he loved.
Two Days Pass
Konoha defeated all the Iwa troops, with the exception of the Tsuchikage who got away. It was a suicide mission, with the objective to destroy the foundation of Konoha. Despite its failure, Konoha sustained many deaths, the most important one, was the Jinchuuriki of the Kyuubi, Shisui Uzumaki. The village remained unharmed, no major structural damage was sustained and aside from the civilian and shinobi deaths in Konoha, everything goes back to normal within the confines of the village...however this attack was the first initiation of the First Great Shinobi World War....Little Mei stands in front of her house looking down at a tombstone. It is her mother's grave. She stands with her eyes closed and prays. She kneels down and kisses it. Her father calls her it, he's waring a cast on his leg and he has crutches. Mei stands up and looks in the sky. She pulls out the blue violet in her hair and holds it up to the sky. A gust of wind comes and blows it out of her hand. She watches it calmly as it blows away and goes through the air. The flower blows through the entire village and eventually gets to the cemetery. The wind calms down and settles the graceful flower down oh, so gently down on a grave stone.
Tombstone “Shisui Uzumaki”
The tombstone has both pictures Shisui held in his headband, of Team Miyagi, during their first picture, and of Shisui as a baby, being held by his parents.
The Blue Violet stands for watchfulness, faithfulness... Quote “I'll Always be true”

~End Of Bonds~
--------------------------------------------------------------------------This is the final chapter of my series Bonds of Shinobi. There will be an epilogue coming soon, but this is where my series ends. This final chapter was to focus on Shisui...who he really was, who he remained to be, and his tradgic death. The blue violet, is the flower of true faithfulness, and symbolizes an ever lasting truth and dedication, which is why it played so heavily in this final chapter.
I tried to end it as best as I could, so I'd appriciate it, in your responses, if you could rate me, either on the post or in your post, how you think I ended this series, and also tell me how you felt about this. I will be continuing in my writting, with another series called Blood: Gift of Kiyoshi which is sort of a Gaiden (side story) derived off of this one, remaining within the same universe as this series and having reoccuring characters. Kiyoshi, and Musoumaru from this chapter and previous chapters will bee generally the main focus of my next series. This series is also a collaboration with the help of naruto kyuubi.
For those who've stuck by me from the beginning, those who are new but are caught up, and all those who have read and participated in my Fanfiction, I thank you for reading and I hope you've all enjoyed it.
