Chapter 8: Resurrection
Over 10 months has passed since Love's expulsion from Konoha, and the incident with Kumogakure. The meeting between the Daimyou of the Land of Fire and Tobirama was resolved to the point where war was avoided, however hostilities between the two shinobi nations still remain thick. Kagami and Shisui have recovered to the point of being discharged from the hospital and have been given leave to fully recover from their injuries. Now that everything seems to be resolved between Konoha the only problem left to be resolved is the matter with Kumogakure.
In the Hokage residence a shinobi runs down the hall heading towards Tobirama's office. He comes barging in the door. He sees Tobirama on the floor with Misa standing on sitting on top of him holding a kunai. The shinobi gets a look of horror on his face.
Misa “(laughs) I win, I beat uncle Tobi!”
Shinobi “Nidaime-sama NO!!!”
Mito “Calm down”
Tobirama lifts his head up and looks at the panicking shinobi.
Tobirama “What's the meaning of this? Why did you barge in”
Misa “Hey no fair, you're supposed to be dead”
Shinobi “Oh thank God...I thought....(shakes his head to clear his mind). Tobirama-sama I just received am important message from from the Anbu”
Mito “Well what was it?”
Shinobi “Shodaime Raikage has been killed!”
Mito and Tobirama both look with shock after the statement. Tobirama picks Misa up off of his chest and hands her to Mito.
Misa “Uncle Tobi?”
Tobirama “I'm sorry but something really important just came up, I'm afraid I can't play with you right now Misa-chan”
Misa “(begins to cry) But you're always busy...”
Tobirama “Don't worry Mito-chan will play with you and tonight after dinner I'll take you out and get you some ice cream”
Misa's face instantly lights up with joy and she nods and hugs tightly to Mito. Mito takes Misa out of the room and Tobirama walks to his desk, waiting for the shinobi to finish is statement.
Tobirama “Explain to me how this happened, I assume you have more for me then just that”
Shinobi “Yes...The scout reported that the death of the Raikage was by the hand of Shodaime Mizukage”
Tobirama “I can certainly believe that, he's defiantly capable of killing any of the other Kage”
Shinobi “What do you mean? He's not stronger then you is he Nidaime-sama”
Tobirama “Forget about it, anyway why were the two of them fighting? I can only imagine the worst type of situation for where they were fighting”
Shinobi “Apparently it was over an invasion. Shodaime Raikage-sama invaded a small island country between the waters of the Land's of Fire and Water.”
Tobirama “*I see...that way they could make quicker time to the waters into the Land of Fire...if they lead an attack from both ends we'd be fighting on a double front which would be devastating to our troops*”
Shinobi “Shodaime Mizukage apparently thought it was an advance to the Land of Water and when the Raikage refused to leave the island, he ordered an attack on Kumo's troops. For whatever reason the Mizukage decided to fight on the front lines of his men”
Tobirama “He went to the front lines?! *That doesn't make any sense, why would he risk himself by fighting in the front lines? Was he that arrogant in his abilities to put his village in jeopardy?*”
Shinobi “Yes and even though Kumo's numbers were superior Kiri came out on top and they were forced to retreat back to the beaches. Shodaime Raikage was furious and went to the battle field and the two Kage confronted one another”
Tobirama “I see”
Shinobi “Like you said Nidaime-sama the battle was devastating, however the only backlashes were on Kumo's remaining troops. After Kumo's retreat, Shodaime Mizukage ordered his troops to do the same. The battle back lash killed no less then 200 Kumogakure shinobi not including the Raikage. I guess after their leader was killed they mounted a full retreat back to the Land of Lightning. It was also in the statement that Shodaime Mizukage had negotiated with the island country and the Daimyou of the Land of Lightning to get reparations for the damages done to the country and for Kiri's assistance”
Tobirama “I see...I suppose this is good news for us for the moment...Kumo is weakened from this battle and they're still dealing with the loss of the Raikage so we can rest easy and bulk up our defenses now...however after this situation is resolved I can only see Kumo as getting more hostile towards us and now Kiri.”
Shinobi “Tobirama-sama...what shall we do?”
Tobirama “Relay this information to the other Great Nations, and to the Fire Daimyou, then post more security to the boarders just in case”
The shinobi bows and leaves the room. Tobirama sits at his desk rocking back and forth in his chair contemplating this situation. He puts his hands together and closes his eyes
Tobirama “*What's Kumo's next move going to be...and what is ours going to be for that matter?*”
While this shocking news is brought to Konoha, intense training is done by Kagami and Shisui. Shisui stands in the back woods behind the Chuunin Academy panting heavily. In front of him the area is almost completely leveled. Trees toppled over, large stones destroyed, and large gaping craters in the field. Shisui remembers back to a meeting he had with Miyagi upon his leaving of the hospital a several months ago.
**Flashback**
Miyagi “Shisui I don't want you to use the Kyuubi's chakra...at least not now”
Shisui “You know I would only use it when absolutely necessary, those guys had the same exact chakra as I did, I couldn't afford to hold back”
Miyagi “I understand...Shisui you have amazing chakra control, especially given you're handicap with the seal and the Kyuubi screwing that off”
Shisui “What are you saying sensei?”
Miyagi “You know there are other Jinchuuriki don't you?”
Shisui “Eight others to be exact...I didn't know that there were people who could possess partial amounts of the chakra without the need for a seal”
Miyagi “The Kin Gin brothers are an exception. They obtained their chakra in the most unexpected and surprising way but lets not stray off subject...You know of the other Jinchuuriki right?”
Shisui “Yes sensei, Bijuu are used as military power and the Jinchuuriki must learn to control them for those purposes right?”
Miyagi “That doesn't make you a weapon Shisui”
Shisui “I know”
Miyagi “What I'm getting at is, whenever a Jinchuuriki tries to use the powers of their Bijuu without proper knowledge of how to control it they will often enough loose control and either weaken or break their seal, allowing the Bijuu to go free...the way you've managed to draw out the little bit that seeps out of your seal is a testament of your chakra controlling abilities...however you're still risking a lot”
Shisui “How am I supposed to learn how to get stronger with my Bijuu?”
Miyagi “I don't know right now...but what I do know is that you are a powerful shinobi, even without your Kyuubi chakra and I've figured out the perfect thing that will allow you to utilize more chakra then that little bit of Kyuubi chakra, and also increase both your speed and your power”
Shisui “What is it?”
Miyagi “It's a power possessed by all humans and can be accessed by all humans. Also the higher your natural stamina is the stronger the power will be for you. However this power takes intense physical discipline and focus but I have no doubt that you'll be able to achieve this goal.”
**End Flashback**
Shisui looks at his arms and sees himself shaking from the intensity of his training. His arms are burned from the amount of chakra he just used.
Shisui “(panting)...I think I have one more go in me...”
Kagami stands in a dark room with his Sharingan active. Bursts of static and light go in and out like rolling power serge. Kagami's arms are burned intensely and he holds three kunai in each hand.
**Flashback**
Kagami leaps out from behind the tree as the shinobi attempts to cut him. It's at that moment that four other shinobi leap up surrounding him in the air. Kagami's look intensifies as he realizes he's trapped. The four shinobi making multiple seals. Kagami's eyes begins projecting the image of one of the shinobi in his eye as he begins making seals.
Kagami “*Tori, Tatsu, Inu, Uma, Ne, Mi, Ushi, Tora, I, Tora* (Bird, Dragon, Dog, Horse, Rat, Snake, Ox, Tiger, Boar, Tiger)”
Kagami instantly memorizes the seals preformed by the four shinobi before the barrier is placed around him. He then looks again at the shinobi as he makes his last two seals.
Kagami “*Ushi, Saru (Ox, Monkey)...*”
The chakra begins for form in the barrier and suddenly turns into electricity. The shinobi and Kagami land and the lightning begins coursing through his body, electrocuting Kagami.
**End Flashback**
Note: This was the flashback was during the fight in the last chapter, where Kagami was trapped inside a barrier of lightning
Kagami “through electrical nerves mixed with the rapid vibrations of chakra...that is the source of lightning based techniques...”
Kagami closes his eyes and concentrates his chakra into the blades. A thick layer of lightning chakra surrounds them and Kagami throws them at six individual targets. The blades go, almost completely through the wooden targets, with the only thing not passing through them were the handles.
Kagami “(pants)...enough vibrations...should be allow them to pierce and cut through...”
Kagami drops to a knee from the excretion of immense chakra. Kagami's Sharingan deactivates from exhaustion he drops to his hands and feet.
Kagami “*Damn...my chakra*”
Kagami suddenly sweeps behind him knocking a shinobi off his feet and gets up instantly and pins him to the ground. It was Tekka and behind him were Inabi and Yoshiro. Kagami gets off of Tekka and heads to get his weapons.
Kagami “What do you guys want?”
Inabi “We wanted to talk to you Kagami”
Kagami “Not interested”
Tekka “You don't know what we want to talk to you about”
Kagami “Sorry, but I'm not interested in hearing anything that comes out of your mouths, or even listening to you speak”
Yoshiro “You're beginning to sound a lot like Setsuna”
Kagami “Complimenting me won't get me to listen to you”
Inabi “You smug little punk, you best show some respect to your superiors!”
Kagami “We're not on the job so I don't have to give you shi~”
Yoshiro appears in an instant in front of Kagami and punches him in the stomach sending him to his knees. Kagami reaches out his hand and Yoshiro back hands him sending him onto the floor. He picks Kagami up by the hair and stares at him with his Sharingan.
Yoshiro “Don't test us you arrogant bastard. Your life may be important to the clan but not too important were we can't beat the living hell out of you and force you to oblige to our goals. We're giving you the choice but regardless of what you choose you're going to do what we say”
Kagami “What are you talking about?”
Inabi “So now you're interested?!”
Yoshiro lets him go and begins walking back to the others.
Yoshiro “We have to go, he's coming.”
Tekka “You can expect to see us again Kagami”
The three shinobi disappear in a cloud of smoke. Moments later Setsuna enters the training room and runs towards Kagami.
Setsuna “Kagami-kun what happened? Are you alright?”
Kagami “I'm fine”
Setsuna “What happened to you?”
Kagami remembers a brief moment ago when Yoshiro stated Kagami's importance to the clan.
Kagami “I over did it...I used too much chakra”
Setsuna “(sigh) you never know when to quite. You always have to be perfect...Well That's how I was when I was younger so I can't really complain. After all Uchihas do copy things a lot don't they, even if it's the training styles of their teachers”
Kagami “You're not my teacher anymore Setsuna”
Setsuna “Don't think because you're a jounin that makes you better then me. Remember I'm a jounin too”
Kagami lets out a small laugh and Setsuna smiles and puts Kagami on his back. He walks out with Kagami and Kagami's face is filled with deep thinking about what the others said and why they avoided telling him when Setsuna came.
In an unknown location Inabi, Tekka, and Yoshiro stand before a hooded figure.
??? “You didn't tell him?!”
Inabi “Setsuna was about to show up. We didn't want him to find out that we had contacted him”
??? “He needs to know~”
???? “No...this isn't the way he needs to find out”
Another hooded figure appears before the others.
??? “He has to understand how significant he is to our rise”
???? “You're correct but we've let Setsuna have his way with him. There is no way he'll come willingly and if we stifle him by forcing him to do what has to be done, then he'll never access his full potential”
??? “So what do you purpose we do then?”
???? “He is close to Setsuna...he is the only one that can unlock Kagami's powers...Setsuna knows the only way for that to happen...is through his death”
Inabi “But if we kill him, he'll turn on the clan and Setsuna knows that”
???? “Then Setsuna is going to have to die by the hands of the Senju”
Yoshiro “How is that going to be possible. Setsuna has practically broken all ties between us. He only remains as a last option in the case his fooled vision doesn't come true.”
???? “We force the hand of Konoha onto Setsuna...and we make sure that Kagami sees”
Tekka “How are we going to do that?”
???? “Leave that to me. Soon enough we'll be rid of Setsuna and nothing will stop us from getting to Kagami”
Inabi “I don't like him anymore then anybody else but Setsuna is our comrade, a clansmen of the Uchiha”
??? “Just like like Madara-sama said necessary sacrifices. Despite his disobedience with Kagami he has served us well but now he is an obstacle that hinders us. Despite his dedication to us he must be eliminated if we're to avenge the biggest sacrifice of us...Madara-sama. This must be done to avenge our leader and to restore glory to our clan.”
The three subordinates bow their heads to the two hooded figures as they leave. The shinobi go their separate ways and the two hooded figures do the same.
A Few Days Pass
A few days have passed since the news of Shodaime Raikage's death. All of the Great Nations have been informed on the matter and already another Raikage was chosen to succeed his predecessor by the council of Kumogakure...A shinobi comes barging into the Hokage's office again with even more urgent news.Tobirama “What is it now?”
Shinobi “Sir it's a message from Kumo. It has the Raikage's seal on it”
Tobirama “*Damn already this can't be good...* bring it here”
The shinobi walks over to Tobirama and hands him the scroll and he opens it. Tobirama's eyes roll through the message and then he suddenly gets a slight look of shock on his face.
Mito “What is it?”
Tobirama “Nidaime Raikage...wants to discuss a peace treaty between Kumo and Konoha”
Mito “What?!”
The message reads:
Nidaime Hokage-dono. I, Ichimaru of Kumogakure have obtained the title of Nidaime Raikage of Kumogakure. During the last several months our two villages have been increasingly hostile towards one another. Our two countries however have always had always had their share of problems and that has passed down onto our two villages. The incident ten months ago with our two villages was the initiation of pre-war activity. I have no intentions of bringing war to my country as I'm sure you do not want for yours either. The decisions of my predecessor are not my intentions. Shodaime Raikage's actions have been reflected upon Kumogakure in a manor we do not wish. Our choice to infiltrate your village and to invade the small island nation of the Land of Geysers were the ambitions of power my Shodaime. As I act now as leader, I wish to seek peace between our two nations. I wish to have a summit with you, you're feudal Lord and my own to discuss reparations and a treaty between our two nations that will end all hostilities. I await your reply and hope that everything can be worked out.
Tobirama “That's right. He's requested a summit with me and the Daimyou to discuss peace between out nations”
Mito “Tobirama think about this carefully...what if this is only a set up to provoke war?”
Tobirama “I don't believe that is the case. I've known Shodaime Raikage for a long time before the villages came into creation. He was always obsessed with gaining power for himself and his clan...He's been a tyrannical leader for as long as I've known him.”
Mito “But what's not to say that Nidaime isn't the same way?”
Tobirama “I don't know...however I'm willing to try for the sake of our two nations”
Mito “Yes Tobirama-sama”
Tobirama “I want you to get the word out to the Fire Daimyou for me and when we leave for the summit I'm leaving you in charge”
Mito “Tobirama-sama, who are you going to have escort you and the Daimyou?”
Tobirama “I'll take a small convoy of Anbu soldiers to accompany me and the Daimyou. Don't forget that I am Hokage Mito, I can protect myself and the Daimyou”
Mito “Yes I know. I'll take care of things now”
Mito gets up and leaves the room to carry out Tobirama's orders. Tobirama gets up right after Mito leaves and closes the shades on the large window in his office turning the room dark. The door suddenly closes shut slowly and Tobirama sits back down.
Tobirama “You have something for me?”
An Anbu soldier, dressed in the battle garb of the organization emerges from the shadows on the ceiling of the room, and drops down.
Note: Same Anbu that was seen in the last chapter who recorded the location of Danzo's hide out
Anbu “One of Danzo's dogs”
Tobirama gets up and turns to the window putting his back to his soldier.
Tobirama “Bring him to the back forest and seal it off when do.”
Anbu “Yes Tobirama-sama”
The shinobi sinks into the shadow on the ground and disappears. Tobirama opens up the blinds and pulls out a black scroll. He walks to the door and leaves his room. A few minutes later Tobirama enters the forest behind his residence and several Anbu guards are placed, hidden around the forest, preventing any from entering. As Tobirama gets deeper into the forest he sees five Anbu soldiers with one of them holding a battered masked shinobi on his knees.
Anbu “Tobirama-sama his identity was confirmed to be Ken Nara”
Tobirama “Are you sure you're alright with this...after all he is your~”
Anbu “He's no son of mine, to betray his village”
The masked shinobi turns his shaking head up towards the shinobi.
Ken “Father?!”
Tobirama “Very well then, place him in the middle and the rest of you get back”
The shinobi is placed in front of Tobirama and Tobirama unravels his the long scroll, which has a seal on it. He takes out a flask which contains blood on it and he pours it in the center of the the scroll's seal. Suddenly a large ritualistic seal is set, from the scroll onto the area around the shinobi with the shinobi being centered and placed under a black center. Tobirama then makes a few seals ending with the ram seal and suddenly dust particles, dirt, and minerals from around the area lift up and rush onto the shinobi. The pain of the ritual causes the shinobi to yell out in, intense pain and agony and after everything is done the body falls on the ground. All the shinobi who watch look down and they react surprised, even through their masks at the new form that was given.
Anbu “That's...that's~”
Tobirama “None of you saw any of this what so ever”
Anbu soldiers “Yes sir”
Every shinobi makes the ram seal and Tobirama makes the snake seal and the shinobi are caught inside a genjutsu. It places a mental shield inside of their mind, blocking any access to their memories from outside mind reading or genjutsu. After that Tobirama releases summons a casket to encase the body and seals it. He sends it underground for it to be summoned again at a later time. The shinobi and Tobirama then leave the confines of the forest after that as if nothing happened...Tobirama gets back to his residence and he goes into Misa's room. She is sleeping and he sits by her bed and strokes her hair...
Tobirama “Misa-chan...I told you that everything would be fine”
The sleeping child turns in her sleep and grabs Tobirama's leg and puts her head on his lap. She smiles at him and he smiles back at her. At that moment Mito returns and she enters Misa's room.
Mito “Tobirama-sama I received word back from the Daimyou. He said that he will accompany you to the summit tomorrow. I sent word back to the Raikage in reply and everything has been set.
Tobirama “Thank you Mito-chan”
Tobirama doesn't even look at Mito when he replies, he remains fixated on his niece. Mito smiles back and then she leaves Tobirama and Misa alone. The next day comes and Tobirama, along with several Anbu shinobi are seen walking through the forests outside of Konoha. Several minutes pass and they meet up with the Fire Daimyou's convoy, who he has also managed to bring many guards of his own.
Tobirama “Kai-sama, it's nice to see you again”
Kai “Ahh Tobirama my boy it certainly has been a while hasn't it, but how time flies and how it changes. Just some months ago were were talking about the possibilities of war between the Land of Lightning and now we're heading over to discuss a peace treaty with them”
Tobirama “Yes I know. There is no need for your guards my Lord. My shinobi guards are more then enough to protect the both of us given the rare chance of attack, and don't forget that I am in fact Hokage as well”
Kai “Just like you Tobirama, my men are the most elite of the capital. Trained in some of the highest level of combat the Land of Fire has to offer.”
Tobirama “If you insist so heavily then I'll oblige.”
Anbu “Tobirama-sama we've checked out the area ahead everything is clear so far”
Tobirama “Very well...Before you go...I want to assign you a new code name. From now on you'll be known as Kage. I want you to send squads 4, 5, and 6 back to the village”
Kage “But Tobirama-sama that will only leave squads 1-3 that's 12 shinobi including myself”
Tobirama “The Daimyou insists on keeping his men so in order to not overwhelm the Lightning Daimyou and Raikage with such high numbers. We'll be fine with 12 shinobi and the Daimyou seems confident in his men's abilities”
Kage “Very well Tobirama-sama”
The shinobi complies to his leader's demand and sends 12 of his shinobi on their way back to the village.
