Chapter 9: Heart
Hashirama “Tobi-kun...what have you done?”
Tobirama still looks his brother with a terrifying realization of what he had done. Hashirama back hands his brother to get him to snap back into his senses, and Tobirama is shaken awake.
Hashirama “Yo Tobi...Are you listening to me? What is the meaning of this, why am I back on this plane?”
Ginkaku “(altered voice) What the hell is this?”
Hashirama shifts his eyes and closes his hand slightly and the Kin Gin brothers sit down, like obedient dogs under Hashirama's control.
Tobirama “Is that...really you Hashirama?”
Hashirama “Yes it is now answer my question, why am I here, in what looks like Kumo and fighting Kinkaku and Ginkaku?”
Tobirama “It's...my new summoning technique”
Hashirama “New summoning technique?”
Tobirama “Possibly the strongest summoning technique in existence now...a technique that summons the souls of the departed back to the living world. A technique that allows me to restore the form the dead and summon their souls into their bodies”
Hashirama “Tobirama...this is taboo, this is...a vile technique...why would you create such a thing?”
Hashirama's tone seems surprisingly calm however the way he expresses his disappointment in his younger brother is still harsh on the ears. Suddenly Kinkaku and Ginkaku begin to tremble slightly and Kinkaku manages to move his finger.
Tobirama “I wanted...I wanted Misa...to see her father and I wanted to see you again big brother”
Tobirama looks down and mumbled his words under his breath like a small child would.
Hashirama “You would dare bring my daughter to witness this abomination you've created? Tobi...maybe I was wrong to leave Konoha to you...if you were going to be such a child”
Tobirama “DON'T YOU THINK I KNOW THAT?!”
Hashirama's expression becomes surprised at his younger brother's tone.
Tobirama “I'm not meant to be Hokage, I was never meant to be! You were the founder of Konoha and you were the one who made everything work. You even prevented our nation that that of others from going to war. I could never hope to meet the conditions of your greatness...but I'm not angry at you, I'm angry that I couldn't handle the responsibility of Konoha! I've barely been able to pick Konoha up out of its crisis after the rebellion, and war was almost brought to our nation and Kumo's. There are hostilities between the other Great Nations, and I have no idea what to do with the village in terms of maintaining my own control. I've always played second best to you even when it comes to Konoha, and I can't take not being able to protect my village and loved ones to the fullest. I couldn't save you or Misa-nee-chan, I can't spend time with baby Misa because of all this work and worst of all, I can't stop her from crying every time she has a dream about her mom or dad and...I can't stop it when I cry about you two either”
Hashirama “Tobi...”
Suddenly the two brothers get a look of shock on their face and both of them leap back as Kinkaku and Ginkaku lunge at full speed towards them.
Tobirama “How did they break your hold on them?”
Hashirama “This feels like my chakra...but my body doesn't feel compatible with it. I feel weaker in this form. Has my body withered away that much?”
Tobirama “This technique can't actually bring the person back to life...it requires a human sacrifice.”
Hashirama “Human sacrifice?”
Tobirama “If I were to summon back your actual body, it would be too weak to even function. The human sacrifice is used as a vessel for the soul to have the basic living functions like a heart, lungs, blood. The jutsu then makes a synthetic replicate body of the departed soul from dust and the soul is summoned back into the synthetic body made from the vessel”
They both look down to the two shrouded brothers and sees them cracking their joints.
Hashirama “Explain to me this situation later, whatever is going on here I will help you take down these two and you can explain to me everything that this jutsu does”
Tobirama nods, returning his focus to a strict and serious one, fixated on battle. Tobirama takes out a talisman and places it in the head of his brother and it allows Tobirama to keep a connection with him in case anything happens. At that moment Kinkaku leaps up at a great speed and, with great power, Hashirama side kicks him in the stomach sending him flying down towards the ground. Kinkaku rebounds quickly, only to see Hashirama right on top of him and kick him again. Hashirama stood next to his brother, revealing the shinobi attacking Kinkaku was a clone.
Note: Moku Bushin no Jutsu (Wood Clone Technique)
Ginkaku leaps up in front of the two brothers and Hashirama makes the snake seal and stomps his right foot on the ground. Suddenly a Bokken (wooden practice sword) shoots up from the ground and Hashirama grabs hold of it.

Ginkaku tackles Hashirama sending the two flying towards the ground. Ginkaku stands on all fours while Hashirama tumbles backwards a bit. The previous Hokage rebounds quickly to see Ginkaku inches away from him. Ginkaku strikes out and Hashirama ducks, side stepping him and hits him with his Bokken on his kidney. Ginkaku lets out a roar and swings his hand towards the Hokage. Hashirama ducks again and thrusts his sword to Ginkaku. Ginkaku leaps back and Hashirama begins swinging his sword, using masterful kenjutsu. Hashirama's fluent movements and masterful form makes it difficult for Ginkaku to counter. Hashirama thrusts is blade and Ginkaku leaps back away from it, however the blade extends and reaches Ginkaku sending him tumbling back. Hashirama transformed the shape of his wooden weapon from a Bokken to a Bo. Hashirama twirls his weapon in a harmonic way and gets into a stance mocking Ginkaku. Ginkaku lets out a roar and heads straight for Hashirama. He strikes wildly but the Hokage evades, and counters with his staff, striking Ginkaku several times. Ginkaku extends one of his tails towards Hashirama and he flips back to evade it. When he rebounds Ginkaku's right in front of him and Hashirama holds his staff out in front of him. Ginkaku breaks it in half with his monstrous power. Hashirama quickly turns the two pieces into tongfa and holds both of them up in front of them as a brace. Ginkaku kicks Hashirama, shattering the remainder of his wooden weapon and sends him tumbling back. Ginkaku rushes him and Hashirama makes quick seals and places his hand on the ground.
Hashirama “Mokuton: Kisoushi Tanesai no Jutsu (Wood Release: Tree Creation Seed Planting Technique)
A split second before contact with Ginkaku's fist, to Hashirama's face, multiple wooden branch extensions shoot up, restraining Ginkaku and layering on a thick layer of wood from head to toe. Ginkaku tries to struggle however he can't get out. Suddenly the giant seed like wood sings back down in the earth. Tobirama leaps down over Hashirama and places his lightning sword in the ground. Mokuton ninjutsu being a mixture of earth and water is a perfect weapon combine with lightning. Earth being weak against lightning, and water being a natural conductor makes lightning the perfect added charge to it. The lightning courses through the ground. Tobirama pants, still exhausted from his battle earlier.
Tobirama “We still have good team work”
Hashirama “Yeah teamwork. I fight him and do all the work and you wrap a bow on it that's what teamwork is”
Tobirama “Shut up!”
Hashirama “What happened to your sense of humor little brother?”
Tobirama “(reacts surprised) We're not done yet!”
Both brothers leap up as Ginkaku emerges from the ground. He lets out a giant roar, and even though the lightning is still coursing through him he acts unaffected.
Tobirama “Damn, how was he able to~”
Tobirama is hit, out of nowhere with a wooden branch and he goes flying into a building. Hashirama looks behind him and sees Kinkaku holding his wooden clone, with it's arm missing. Kinkaku crushes the head of the clone between his hands and throws it at Hashirama. Hashirama absorbs the wood on contact and makes quick seals and points his other arm in the direction of Ginkaku.
Hashirama “Mokuton: Daijurin no Jutsu (Wood Release: Great Forrest Technique)
Multiple wood branches shoot out from Hashirama's arms but, amazingly Ginkaku advances forward, shattering through Hashirama's technique. Both Kinkaku and Ginkaku rush towards him at great speed. Hashirama leaps backwards to avoid collision of the two brothers, however they both demonstrate quick reflexes by instantly changing their direction the moment the Hokage does. The three shinobi collide and Kinkaku and Ginkaku use the double lariat (Kinkaku goes to the neck, while Ginkaku goes to the stomach) and they go right through the Kage. Hashirama's head goes flying off and his body is almost split in two. Suddenly dust and dirt centers around Hashirama stomach and the head decomposes and recomposes on Hashirama's neck. Suddenly Tobirama appears behind Ginkaku, with a chakra charged punch. Hashirama charges up chakra in his fist as well.
Hashirama and Tobirama “Senju Kentai (Senju Combination)”
Both brothers punch their opponents (Hashirama to Kinkaku, Tobirama to Ginkaku) and immediately after the two go after the other (Hashirama to Ginkaku, Tobirama to Kinkaku) using Kage Buyo (Shadow of the Dancing Leaf). They place their forearms on the back of their necks and head straight for each other. Hashirama and Tobirama slam both the Kin Gin brothers together with amazing force and leap away from them. The two Jinchuuriki brothers get so a knee from the impact and Hashirama gets next to his brother.
Hashirama “Tobi, when they attacked me...it should have taken me out”
Tobirama “I may have to change my statement. This is perhaps the strongest jutsu in existence at the moment. In this form you cannot be killed by normal means. You can be stabbed, even blown up but unless I release the jutsu, or you're sealed away you can't die”
Hashirama “There has to be some repercussions?”
Tobirama “None to me...even if I'm to die in battle the jutsu won't be released. There is no side affect to me, but you mentioned that your chakra wasn't compatible with your body...that was a development I just now learned. It seems that without the real body the summoned person won't be as strong as were when they were living.”
Hashirama “Well there shouldn't be a problem then, you're not going to release the jutsu until this is resolved and they have no means of sealing me”
Tobirama “Actually they have four of the five treasured tools of the Sage”
Hashirama “You're kidding me right”
Hashirama looks at the two brothers and sees them wielding the weapons.
Hashirama “Then I'll make good sure not to get hit”
Kinkaku and Ginkaku rush towards the Senju brothers with great speed. Tobirama uses his Lightning shuriken from his blade however Kinkaku waves the fan and uses a wind technique again to nullify them. The wind continues on and goes to the two brothers and the winds act like blades cutting the two. Hashirama is unaffected, however Tobirama sustains some cuts. The two Senju brothers and the Kin Gin brothers square off in high speed taijutsu. Tobirama is exhausted at this point and is fighting purely on the most minimum of his reserves. Ginkaku manages to separate Tobirama from Hashirama, throwing off their collaboration taijutsu. Tobirama's speed and reflexes have been shot due to the shot in the ribs he took earlier and the large excretion of chakra. Ginkaku wails multiple attacks on Tobirama, with only a few of them he manages to defend against. He slams a fist in his face sending him tumbling back. Tobirama remains conscious however he's unable to move. Ginkaku makes three seals
Ginkaku “(altered voice) Doton: Doryudan (Earth Release: Earth Dragon Bullet)”
A giant dragon head emerges and shoots multiple rock bullets at Tobirama. Tobirama attempts to get up but he doesn't even budge an inch. Kinkaku swings a kick towards Hashirama. He evades it and looks over to his brother. He gets into a position and Kinkaku kicks him. Hashirama blocks the kick but goes flying towards Tobirama. He lands in front of Tobirama and he blocks the bullets of earth with his arms individually. Kinkaku gets to Ginkaku and waves the fan letting out a large tearing flame.
Hashirama “(makes three seals) Mokuton: Jukai Heki (Wood Release: World of Trees Wall)
Large pieces of wood rise from the earth and interlock with one another creating a large powerful wall of trees. The flames hit the wood with intense power, however Hashirama manages to maintain the jutsu. Hashirama looks back at his brother to see him struggle to get up.
Hashirama “*He doesn't have the same level of chakra as I do but he's damn close...He's exhausted most of it, he won't be able to fight much longer...But against these guys even I'm going to need him to assist me*”
Suddenly from the wall large spiraling bullets of water break through towards the Kin Gin brothers.
Note: Suiton: Suigadan (Water Release: Water Fang Bullet)
They evade it and Hashirama drops his wall of trees.
Hashirama “Tobi are you alright to battle?”
Tobirama stands panting, and looking extremely fatigued.
Tobirama “Yeah...I'll be alright...but we have to end this now”
Ginkaku suddenly springs up from underground and his claw cuts upwards through Tobirama's chest and right arm. Tobirama yells out in pain. Hashirama grabs hold of the shinobi and spins around several times and throws him. The right half of Tobirama's body is drenched with blood, leaking out rapidly. Hashirama turns to the two brothers angrily and takes a step. Tobirama puts his hand on his brother and stops him.
Tobirama “I'll loosen their guard...I still have on trick up my sleeve...Wait...for the moment I give you to strike”
Tobirama heads straight for the two brothers. He attacks Kinkaku and Ginkaku with the little ounce of strength he has left but the block and evade every one of Tobirama's drastically slowed attacks. Kinkaku grabs Tobirama's limp arm causing Tobirama to yell in pain. Ginkaku then strikes him however when he does Tobirama's body vanishes like a mist. Suddenly Kinkaku and Ginkaku are surrounded in a world of darkness. They're trapped in a world without any light and both are cut off from the other.
Note: Kokuangyo no Jutsu (Bringer-of-Darkness Technique)
Both brothers are trapped in a powerful genjutsu and they're cut off from one another. Suddenly Kinkaku feels a force draining his chakra and on the outside of the jutsu, Hashirama uses his repression jutsu and he represses the chakra within Kinkaku.
Note: Hokage-Shiki Jijun Jutsu-Kakun Nitten Suishu (Hokage-Style Sixty-Year-Old Technique-Kakun Entering Society with Bliss-Bringing Hands)
Smaller Note: Couldn't Kishi think of a shorter name for this shit like really, who the hell wants to write that or even say that out? Damn
Hashirama makes the Snake and Tiger seal and actually begins drawing out the chakra of the Kyuubi from Kinkaku. Once it's drawn out Kinkaku drops to his knees exhausted. Suddenly Kinkaku is snapped out of the genjutsu but only by his death. Kinkaku falls with several kunai, shuriken and projectiles within his body. Ginkaku feels his brother's lifeless presence and he makes the tiger seal to try and release himself from the genjutsu however before he does he's stabbed through the back with the Sword of the Thunder God. He's released from the genjutsu because of that.
Tobirama “Raiton: Sa-ji no Kami (Lightning Release: Surge of God)
A powerful electrical surge goes through the body of Ginkaku and he lets out a roar. The jutsu attacks the inside of Ginkaku's internal organs and it over charges his heard causing it to explode inside of him. Ginkaku's shroud leaves him and before he dies he coughs up blood and his expression is shocked. Tobirama takes the blade out of Ginkaku and he falls beside his brother. The Kin Gin brothers of Kumogakure lay dead by the hands of Shodaime and Nidaime Hokage. Tobirama walks over to his brother panting with relief. Hashirama punches Tobirama knocking him off his feet.
Hashirama “Tobi...why did you do that?”
Tobirama “Because it's what I deserve. You're right...I've created possibly the most horrible technique in existance because of my own imperfections and I hurt not only you, but myself, and Misa. I can't seem to do anything right...I'm a failure and you were wrong to leave me in charge of Konoha”
Hashirama “How does your idiocy make me wrong?”
Tobirama looks at his brother.
Hashirama “It really doesn't make sense if you think about it. You screw up and I'm wrong...”
Tobirama “What the hell are you talking about?”
Hashirama “You see me as perfect Tobi but I'm not...notice I couldn't even see the rebellion of the Uchihas coming. I couldn't protect those who died as a result of their actions, I couldn't save that child from becoming the new Jinchuuriki and have him bare the same pain as his mother...I couldn't save father...I couldn't bring mother happiness after he had died”
Tobirama looks shocked at his brother as tears roll down his, still expressionless face.
Hashirama “There were a lot of things...that I failed at, but leaving you in charge of Konoha wasn't one of them. Not even I am strong enough to completely obliterate war, I could only restore a mere moment of peace in this world and look how quickly it fades. Tobirama...you managed to prevent war from coming to Konoha still. You managed to restore Konoha to it's point of prosperity, you are the one who protects your villagers and loved ones...and I can feel it deep in my heart...you are a great father to my daughter.”
Tobirama “But you're her father I~”
Hashirama “Love her just as if she were your daughter. I've experienced many things after my death in the afterlife...and one of them was happiness and sadness...mixed with a little envy”
Tobirama “What do you mean?”
Hashirama “Every time Misa smiles...I'm filled with overwhelming joy...when she cries I'm filled with sadness and guilt that I'm unable to be there for her...when I see you put that smile on her face, and stop her from crying...I'm jealous because I feel it should be me doing those things for my daughter...but in the end I feel happy again because I see that smile of hers and I see the love that you give her truly makes her happy...my dear little brother you are a great father to her and she feels the same way, that is why I'm proud of you. Everybody in the village feels the love and dedicaition you have to them, and just like you would die for Misa, just like you would cry with her, laugh with her, and protect her...you protect Konoha and there is nobody else who could have stepped up the the challenge the way you have...my dear little brother you are not a failure, you are a better Hokage then I could have ever been and I'm proud of you.
Tobirama “Hashi...nii-san”
Hashirama “I'm sorry I was hard on you earlier...I had no idea you felt the same way I did when I felt that I couldn't protect the village...and I'm sorry that I, and Misa died so suddenly, leaving you alone to fend for yourself. I want you to know Tobi, that the guilt that we feel isn't because we feel weak, it's because we love so much that no matter what we do we'll always want to do better for those around us, even though we do more then we think...I just realized that sometime after my death. As I've watched you I saw exactly how I was treating myself, and I know that anybody who cares the way we do about anything is feeling the same way. Don't take it as a sign of failure, take it as a motive to get stronger and stronger all the way up until you die. Go past your peek of excellence to become more excellent for what you love, don't sulk and live in the past...Tobirama if you heed what I'm telling you, you shall become an even greater Hokage.”
Tobirama “Nii-san...”
Hashirama begins to fade away, the dust and dirt from the synthetic body begins to chip away and Hashirama's face is filled with a joyful smile.
Hashirama “I guess there is another way for this jutsu to be defeated, huh little brother”
Tobirama watches as his brother fades away with a bright and powerful smile. Tears begin to fall down Tobirama's face and he smiles back at his big brother.
**Flashback**
Note: During Hashirama and Tobirama's childhood
Tobirama “I'm going to be the strongest ninja in the whole world when I grow up, I'll even get better then you Nii-san”
Hashirama “Such a kid really, you'll never be able to beat me”
Tobirama “You want to go now huh, I'll take you down with one jutsu”
Hashirama “I'll take you down without even moving from this spot”
A young Tobirama stands up and tries to run to attack his brother. He tries to run but he trips over a small wooden root, that suddenly springs up under him.
Hashirama “That's how it's always going to be, you falling flat on your face”
Tobirama “You cheated!”
Mother “Now, now my babies don't fight. You two are brothers, you shall look after one another and protect each other.”
A beautiful, white haired woman stands over her two sons with gentle red eyes and a creamy complection. She smiles at her two children gently and places her hand on their shoulders.
Note: Tobirama takes after his mother
Hashirama “It's alright Mom we're just playing”
Tobirama “That's right mommy, I'll never let anybody hurt Nii-san, I'm the only one who is supposed to beat him”
Hashirama “And I have to keep this little kid alive so he can keep trying”
Mother “You are very odd children, but you're love for each other is deep. You're relationship is just like that of your father and uncle. I guess that's just how the Senju men are”
Tobirama and Hashirama “That's right!”
Both brothers smile at each other and Hashirama puts his hand on Tobirama's head.
**End Flashback**
Hashirama places his hand on his little brother's head just like he did when they were children.
Hashirama “I'll forgive you this one other time for calling me Hashi again, but only because you've done a good job with my daughter and the village...It looks like you finally bested me...little brother”
Hashirama disappears and the dust and dirt that made him went back into the earth. Tobirama stands before the two dead brothers and sees the body of the shinobi he used to summon his brother sink into the earth. Tobirama smiles and wipes the tears from his face. Suddenly his eyes widen and he falls flat on his face unconscious.
Tobirama “Nii-san...I may be with you...sooner then we both hope...”
Tobirama's mind goes black and his eyes close. Moments later several Kumogakure shinobi enter the site, along with medical-nin. They quickly begin healing fallen Hokage, who bleeds out rapidly.
Kumo-nin “No way...he was able to beat the Kin Gin brothers by himself”
Kumo-nin 2 “There's no way, Nidaime Raikage had to have done something to have given him an edge. There's on one shinobi who could have defeated these two by themselves”
Medical-nin “Damn this is bad, this is really bad. He's used up a dangerously high amount of chakra. He doesn't have enough chakra to increase the calcium to repair his bones, or the chakra to repair his right kidney. He's lost a lot of blood already as it is we have to get him to the hospital immediately”
The shinobi nod and the medical shinobi lift him up on a stretcher and take him to the hospital. The Anbu guards from Konoha reappear.
Kage “Allow us to use one of your emergency rooms, our medics will take it from here”
Medical-nin “He's in critical condition he's going to need all the help you can get”
Anbu Medic “Kage-senpai we have four medics with us. I'll lead the operation but we're going to need a few more”
Medical-nin “We'll send you five in to assist you”
In a large room Tobirama is placed in a center of a large drawn out seal. His body is laced with several sealed tags, connected to chakra receptors that replenish his critically low chakra. The head Anbu medic stands controlling the operation while four shinobi sit at each corner of the seal, with another shinobi behind them as relief. They preform the Chikatsu Saisei no Jutsu (Healing Resuscitation Regeneration Technique) to heal the gash in the half of his body that was struck by Ginkaku. Hours roll by before the operation is complete. After everything the Hokage comes our alive. Due to everything that has happened the negotiations between the nations of the Land of Lightning and Fire have been postponed to allow both Kage to heal from their injuries. Tobirama is brought back to the village, and word of what happened in Kumogakure was a great shock to the entire shinobi world. The rumors about both, Raikage and Hokage being critically injured by the Kin Gin brothers were emphasized less, then the rumors of Tobirama single handily taking down the two Jinchuuriki brothers and remaining alive to tell the tail.
Back in Konoha, Tobirama stays in the hospital, under strict guard by the Anbu. Only Anbu medical specialists were allowed in, however Mito and Misa went to go see Tobirama.
Mito “Let us through”
Anbu “I'm sorry Mito-sama but we've been under strict order not to permit anybody in or out of Tobirama-sama's room”
Misa “I want to see uncle Tobi!”
Baby Misa begins crying, desperately wanting to see her uncle, and her cries go throughout the hospital, making both the guards outside Tobirama's room get nervous.
Anbu 2 “Huh...Misa-sama...it's not that...we think anything will happen it's just...”
Anbu “He's really sick...he has to recover and...”
They look into the girl's saddened face and then they look at each other. They open the door and permit both of them inside. There were four more guards inside, one of them a medical examiner checking out his status.
Anbu 3 “What are they doing in here?”
Anbu 4 “Did you not understand the orders of 'permit nobody'?”
Anbu “We apologize...but Misa-sama wouldn't stop crying and...”
Anbu 5 “You two are pathetic”
Anbu Captain “You'll hear about this later”
The captain heads over to Mito and Misa and looks down at her. He looks into her eyes, through his mask prepared to send the two away but after several seconds of silence looking into the child's eyes he turns his head up and begins walking out the door.
Anbu Captain “Come on...”
The other Anbu look at each other but follow the orders of their leader and they follow him out.
Anbu Captain “You have five minutes”
They exit and close the door behind them and Misa lets out a big grin.
Misa “See Mito-nee I told you I could get us in”
Mito “That you did, but we can't stay long”
Misa climbs into the bed with an unconscious Tobirama and begins playing with his hair. She strokes his face and Mito looks with a smile on her face at the innocent child. Five minutes go by and the shinobi enter the room again. They see Misa asleep next to Tobirama.
Mito “She's a 4-year-old girl what harm can she possibly do?”
Anbu Medic “I just sent the last test results back to the other medics for analysis but from what it looked like there is no more worry, he's not critical anymore, he's just recovering”
Anbu Captain “Fine she can stay”
Mito “Alright, alert me if anything goes wrong with either of them”
Mito leaves the room and Misa clings tightly to her uncle as she sleeps besides him. Several hours go by before Tobirama wakes up. He opens his eyes and sees then Anbu stationed around the room. He feels a gentle, but firm grip around his arm and turns his head to see Misa right next to him. He sees the smile on her face and he gently smiles back at her. Her long black hair, like her father's yet the gentle she has the gentle and loving face of her mother. He places his hand through her hair as he remembers Misa.
**Flashback**
Note: After Hashirama died but before Misa gave birth.
Misa sits in her and Hashirama's room staring out the window, cradling her pregnant stomach. Her expression is calm but the but the depression and sadness in her eyes is all too revealing. Tobirama enters the room and goes up behind his sister-in-law and places both hands on her shoulders.
Tobirama “Misa-chan...it'll be alright, everything will be alright”
Misa “It's not going to be alright Tobi...How am I going to explain what happened to her father once she's born? I can't bare to look in the eyes and tell her that her father was a hero, but he had to leave us to protect us...I can't do that without crying myself. I can't stop her tears when we'll both be crying for the same thing”
Tobirama “Then I'll dry both of your tears...you are my sister...and that baby inside of you, she is my niece and my brother's legacy. When he died he left the both of you in my hands, not just Konoha”
Misa “Tobirama...ever since I've known you, you've been extremely kind to me. You've cared for me just as Hashirama did for me.”
Tobirama “You've always been my sister Misa”
Misa “You two would always fight with each other and smile while doing it. Even when you two were really angry, when you two were really fighting over an argument...you always smiled while you did...even though you used to fight each other all the time, when you fought together you were always there for each other. You'd always get upset when Hashirama was hurt and you felt it was your fault and he would feel the same way...you two had an even stronger relationship then he and I...how do you not feel this sadness? How don't you feel the pain (tears roll down her face as she clinches her fists on her legs)”
Tobirama “I do...but I can't sit around and cry...I have a responsibility to you and to Konoha. I have to be strong”
Misa “Tobirama...I never understood why you were always so good to me...I never understood~”
Tobirama takes his hands off of her shoulders and he begins walking back to the door.
Tobirama “You're right...I did love my brother...And I swore to protect everything he held dear to him including you and your child...Even before he died...even before Konoha and everything...I swore to protect what he loved...The fact that...I've always loved you just like Hashi has makes me want to care for you even more”
Misa's face fills with shock and she turns to face him but she turns to a closed door. She goes back to the times she was young. When she would sleep next to Tobirama, but leave once Hashirama came back from his clan missions, how both her and Tobirama used to talk, and play with each other and how she would always bring up Hashirama. There was even a time when she was saved and held in the arms of Tobirama, but mistaken him for Hashirama. Her mind was always set on the one she had loved but never on the one who had done just as much for her and had cared in the same way as he did.
*4 days pass*
Misa has just given birth to her daughter, after several hours of labor. Misa holds her baby close to her and Tobirama looks upon both of them with tears in his eyes.
Misa “Tobirama...why are you crying?”
Tobirama “You look so feeble and weak...”
Nurse “She's lost so much chakra, but that's normal after child birth, the thing is it normally recovers rather quickly, her chakra isn't stabilizing, she critical right now”
Misa “Tobirama I want you to hold her...I want you to be the one to give her, her name”
Misa hands her newborn into the hands of Tobirama and he looks down at the baby, he turns his attention back to her and his expression is of deep worry and fear. The nurse runs out of the room to go and get a medic to try and stabilizse her chakra.
Misa “Tobi...I'm sorry”
Tobirama looks at her and he's confused as to her apology.
Misa “I'm sorry...that I ignored your feelings so selfishly...you were right there for me just as Hashirama was. You were always there for me but I ignored you and I'm sorry...I also have to apologize that I am again going to be selfish with my heart...I can't bare to live without him...I can't bare to spend another day without Hashirama and it's impossible for me to be a good mother to my child if I am always in self pity. I'll never be able to take care of her because of this...I would be a failure as a mother.”
Tobirama “Stop speaking like that, you're not a failure~”
Misa “My heart has always been one tracked...hurting everybody else close to me other then the one I loved...You, Hashirama, and this baby are the most important things to me, but I've always placed one over the other, and I've always placed my personal feelings over those of others...however...I do have a solution...After what you said to me I began thinking...This baby was born into this world with love...my love and I have agreed to leave this world...so that, my love will stay behind for you in her. I know you will take care of her just as you've taken care of me and Hashirama. She will love you...and you will love her”
Tobirama's eyes widen at her statement and he looks down to the baby who has stopped crying and holds on tightly to Tobirama.
Misa “I will be with Hashirama...but I will leave my greatest love to you...I won't hurt as much if I leave so she doesn't have to take care of her mother”
Misa's eyes begin to close and tears go down her face.
Misa “And the two of you...will have the strongest bonds that will never die...that will never hurt either of you...that is my gift to the two of you...I'm sorry...for what I've put the both of you through in the past and I hope you will forgive me...I love you both”
Misa's eyes close gently just as her life slips away gently as well. The nurse and medic enter the room and they try to revive her but they are unsuccessful. The baby is taken to the incubator and tests are ran on her. After several hours Tobirama gets the report of a healthy baby. He is taken to her and he looks at her as she sleeps. When she opens her eyes she see's Misa's eyes and face and he smiles.
Nurse “Tobirama-sama, have you decided on a name for her?”
Tobirama “*This is her love personified* Misa”
The nurse writes it down on the clipboard. The baby looks up to Tobirama and he sees her face try to make a smile.
**End Flashback**
Tobirama's smile doesn't cease as he still looks at his niece. He remembers the time before Misa died and his last encounter with his older brother.
Tobirama “*You were both right...I will not falter anymore*”
Tobirama holds Misa in closer to him and she lifts up to his face and kisses him on the cheek in her sleep.
Misa “Papa...”
The love the two of them share is more then a bond between a father and his daughter. Their love is to a point where their hearts are linked in ways indescribable to a point each other's happiness, sadness, pain, and emotion can be felt by the other and both know exactly what has to be done to heal the other. Misa is the best medicine for Tobirama, and Tobirama is the best thing to ever happened to the young child as she is to him as well...
