Can you axe the AgK one? It's been dead for a while and won't come back... :sdo:
It doesn't really work that way. Once a subforum has been made, we only remove it if we have an almost 100% guarantee there is no merit in it anymore to keep it around. For example the Kimi no Todoke section had only a single new thread made for the duration of its existence. So yeah it was removed as clearly no one was interested in it. This however is not the case for AgK and several other sections as there are multiple factors involved. The HxH section was dead for a long time, but then recently it reached a peak in activity.
In the end it comes down to that we really do not want to have the scenario where we continuously add and remove sections randomly as that's confusing, hence things like "just axe that section for this one" is really not a reasoning we follow on a whim and I'm talking here about past experiences as the exact opposite has also been done: people asking whimsically for a section, they are given it and then they do absolutely nothing with it.
At this point you're all talk. I tried for several months to get people into BNHA with the intention of making a subforum if there were enough people who actively were interested in it, however barely anyone was. So instead of talking about making a section for a series, make sure there are actually people interested in discussing the series in the first place. If you don't have the latter, the former is pointless.
I'll have to respectfully disagree with a few points. Is it really that complex to create two threads? I understand the point about not being encouraged to do so with little activity but you make it sound like it's laborious. And my other point, If you make a subforum for a lesser known but more cult following title it can help lead others to the title by reading people's reactions and if they see something getting enough attention and see it grow they may be more inclined to pick it up.
It's your call, just figured I'd throw that out there.
Who said anything about it being complex? I merely stated the reality of the situation that's based on both common sense as on past experiences. There is nothing to disagree upon. We had people asking for sections in the past, they were given it, they didn't do anything with it and then you have people saying to axe that section in favor of one they prefer, cycle repeat. Does this sound familiar? It should as this thread is part of that never ending loop that has been going on for years.
And you always need a basis. A series that is not discussed, is not suddenly going to become popular merely because you made a section for it. It's fundamental you have a foundation to build upon; a small group of people that actively is discussing the series. If you have that and then give them a subforum, then it becomes possible that more people will be attracted to it. Not many people start a series because they saw a new section, if that was the case you wouldn't be asking to axe another section, but many people can start a series if they see there's lots of activity in the section. Nothing is going to come out of nowhere.
I tried for several months to get people into BNHA, barely anyone was interested. So it's extremely simple. If you want a subforum, show that you are planning to be active in it. If all the people in this thread would have weekly discussions about BNHA, it shouldn't be that hard.
