Bleach: The Lost Order
Episode 5: Desperation
The Captains stood in the darkness, facing where they could sense Goro was standing. The last flare of the Shinigami Squadron had faded from the sky, and the only sounds that could be heard was the rippling of blood out of the slaughtered Shinigamis' throats over the rocky ground. The Captains' eyes finally began to adjust to the light of the moon and stars, and they were able to make out Goro's silhouette on the black backdrop of the rocky terrain.
Ragnaroc: Goro?
Goro grunted, as if to say "Unfortunately for me, yes."
Emperor: B-but, you're not supposed to be here... all of the Hollows are supposed to have been exterminated. I saw you die with my own -
At that moment, the Goro's dark silhouette shot forward at an unbelievable speed, tackling Emperor to the ground, pinning him there.
Goro had drawn his sword, and was holding it to Emperor's throat.
Goro: Oh, believe ME, I wish I had died.
All of the Captain's turned around in shock towards Goro, whose sword was still pressed to Emperor.
Kaze: Get off of him!
Goro: Do you see what a pitiful existence I live now? All thanks to your treachery! I don't care if the rest of you murder me - spilling your blood, my CAPTAIN, will make Death's grasp all the more sweet!
Kaze and Ragnaroc sprung at Goro, grabbing him by his shoulders and trying to pull him off of Emperor.
Goro: Hah! I've waited for this for a long time.
Goro inhaled yearningly, preparing to spill Emperor's lifeblood onto the ground.
Roku: Wait! Goro, don't you wonder why we're out here? Why we were being chased?
Goro: Not in the slightest. All I've wondered for the past hundred years is why I didn't kill you all when I had the chance.
Roku: We were betryaed... by Yammamoto.
Goro stayed his blade, unmoving. His aggression was, at least for the moment, suppressed.
Roku: We need your help now. Yammamoto's killed Urahara, Bishamon, and Ali... We need your help to get revenge.
Goro suddenly sprang up from Emperor, slashing his blade at Roku.
Roku partly unsheathed his Zanpakuto, blocking Goro's attack just in time.
Roku: Don't you want revenge on Yammamoto?! For what he's done to you!
Goro: I want revenge on YOU, goddamnit! You've slaughtered my lifelong friends and comrades right before my eyes, and now, when you've tasted just a TINY bit of what it's like to be me, you come asking me for HELP?! For ****'s sake, you didn't even make a half-assed attempt at a freaking apology for killing my FRIENDS, and you just expect that I'll JOIN you!? I would sooner DIE.
Goro unleashed a flurry of slashes at Roku, moving so quickly that in the poor lighting he appeared to have muliple arms. Each of the slashes Roku either dodged or blocked, but then only slightly.
Goro: How do I even know if you're ****ing telling the goddamn truth?! All of this could've just been to get me to reveal myself!
Goro knocked Roku away with a particularly strong slash.
Goro: CERO OSCURAS!!
A gargantuan black cero shot out of Goro's hand at Roku. The black cero was nearly invisible in the already pitch-dark night. It appeared to almost blend in with the sky.
The other three Captains were stunned, and simply stood staring at Goro and the smoke.
Goro slowly turned around to the other three Captains.
Goro: You're such children... You talk about righteousness and ending suffering, and yet you have no idea what suffering is. Look at you - you just stand there while your comrade is annihilated. You don't attack back - you CAN'T attack back. You're so stunned by your loss that you can't even fathom revenge at this point. You've lived for hundreds of years and you've fought in hundreds of battles, and yet you've experienced absolutely nothing.
Roku shot out of the smoke of the Cero Oscuras, attacking Goro from behind in a blind fury, slashing, stabbing, swinging at whatever he could. Goro turned around quickly and started parrying and dodging. Nevertheless, one of Roku's attacks made contact with Goro, causing a small cut on the Hollow's arm.
Roku jumped back and stood there, panting, his robes cut up from Goro's previous attack.
Goro: ....
Roku: I'M SORRY!
Goro: ....Your sword......
Roku: I'M SORRY THAT I KILLED YOUR FRIENDS. I'M SORRY THAT I KILLED YOUR FAMILY.
Goro: ......Your sword...... you've felt it.....
Roku: *panting* WHAT?
Goro: ....You know.... desperation....
Roku: *panting* What?
Goro: ....In your sword - in your heart, there is desperation... there is strife. You weren't lying... You know... loss.
Roku: And what of it?
Goro: You understand it. You feel it. You were betrayed. And you and I... We fight the same battle.
The Captains stood, silently. No noise could be heard. Roku was no longer panting, and the flow of blood ot of the necks of the dead Shinigami squadron's members had stopped.
The sun began to rise.
Goro: Come. Come into my cave - before the sun rises.
Roku began to follow Goro, both sheathing their swords.
Ragnaroc: Roku... are you sure he can be trusted?
Roku paused for just a moment.
Roku: Yes.
Goro stood just inside of the cave ahead of the Captains, and turned around.
Goro: Are you coming or not?
The Captains looked at each other, and cautiously followed Goro into the cave.
Goro: Well, it's not much, but I call it home.
Ragnaroc: That's all right... This cave's much nicer than my house.
Goro: Heh. I wasn't talking about the cave...
Goro took some of the blood from the cut that Roku had made on his arm, and spread it in the shape of a star on the ground.
The walls of the cave shook violently. Suddenly, the cave's back wall disappeared, instead opening up to a gigantic bustling underground building complex full of sandstone houses, flowing streams, and Hollows.
Goro: Welcome to Las Noches 2.0!
