Why in the world would he have Toshiro fight Miracle? The only redeeming factor is it looks like Shinji might be stepping into the battle.

Well if Gerard's strength is taking damage, then his weakness will be attacks that don't inflict direct damage.

Or rather, inhibit him.

hes a captain class shinigami with the strongest ice type zanpaktou and a genius who in shunsui admitted would probably surpass him in 100 years.

toshiros power is also ideal for fighting a giant sense he can hinder gerards movements and create openings for people to attack or freeze him completely and then shatter him.

gerard also is to big to dodge that one attack toshiro used against harribel where anything that touches his snow freezes

Toshiro hasn't actually been as weak as normal in this arc. Yes, he got owned by Bazz B (The guy who can control FIRE that is stronger than Yamamoto) While weakened and without a Bankai. So, in his other fights, how did he go:
Oh yes, Instant win on Cang Du. Instant win on Ikakku/Yumichika/Charlotte (Who were beating up Bambietta like she was nothing), Multiple Instant kills on Mayuri (Except Mayuri was Mayuri so it didn't work). So yea, he could have gotten a bit stronger over the time skip.


finally, would it truly be worse than NANAO suddenly having the only weapon capable of killing lille?

100 years aren't much because shinigami has life span of more than 1000 years, otherwise time is same for everyone it doesn't matter whether a person is human,hollow, or soul reaper. In this anime you can surpass ywach in 1 year if you want to, remember how ichigo mastered his shikai in 10 days only and bankai in 3hours where other soul reapers who has their age more than 100 years aren't even able to do it.

According to all the people he killed, he was exactly the same as a Zombie. It shouldn't be a powerup. Hell, it only made him stronger because he arrived after a long absence with a new costume in a shounen manga, which as we all know makes one invincible.

An how is bazz b stronger than yamamoto when yamamoto took him down effortlessly?....Anyway he will need lots of help with miracle sense he stood no chance against a not serious bazz b.
