Yeah, it would be obvious that Blackbeard was holding a normal fruit near Whitebeard's body, so the normal fruit will transform to a Devil's Fruit.

I think it's worth mentioning that BB's subordinates have implied that they can gain others' devil fruits for themselves just as BB himself, so it's not simply sucking the DF into himself if his partners can do it too.

Also that scan doesn't actually say that it says he can pull the actual body of DF users not that he can pull the fruits powers from a body permanently(although that is what was implied with WB)

I know others don't but I still really like the knife theory. If you go back and rewatch BB taking the fruit from Thatch and the DR segment where Burgess comes for Luffy they have a very similar knife.

No, there is no implied context here because he was being literal. That includes lightning, fire, etc like he said before.
If he can absorb “everything” then literally that includes other people’s devil fruit powers just like he did Whitebeard. So the only one who’s wrong here is you, we’ve literally seen his devil fruit absorb inanimate materials into his body before.

It might be an awakening or some other unorthodox method but everything still remains as everything, the only limit is how much of his body can take in.

Maybe the things he absorbs from black hole go into him, like when the darkness returns to his body. Also why he can't become intangible. Maybe this is the whole reason he wanted the darkness fruit, to absorb other dfs

You're right about one thing, the context isn't implied, it's given. When BB absorbs something, it's stored in his Darkness until he releases it. That's it. Nothing else has been shown or stated in the manga

Except the manga has shown us that absorbing something for BB means keeping it inside his Darkness like an empty room, not assimilating an abstract power into his being. The only speculation here is yours.
