"It don't look right."
The book had no pictures. Black, white, Asian, Hispanic, Hermione is still gonna be Hermione.

they're used to emma, tbh it doesn't feel right to me too but i really couldn't care less.

Her color? Obviously not, I just thought the contradiction was funny.

A 'white face' could also mean a white face, so...

Agreed. If it were shocked it would've been "shocked face" or some stupid crap like that.

I don't really have a problem with a black Hermoine.

I have a problem of all three of them not looking like the old cast. Imo

Nah it's just that she old, I mean if the rest of the cast are around the same age lol then I don't mind.

Hermione was called pale, white etc. throughout the books so no, it's not ambiguous. There doesn't need to be pictures to describe a person. Besides, Dowling herself drew her, white with buck teeth and went on to call her a caricature of herself.

OT: My problem is that her ethnicity doesn't align with canon descriptions. The fact that Rowling had no comeback on tweets quoting material from the books only emphasises that she's slipped up to. This isn't a matter of racial prejudice, it is one of staying true to canon. Doesn't really matter anyway, since it's going to be drab and shown to a small audience.

Even as an avid fan, I'm not going to recognise the Cursed Child play. Inaccessible to most fans and lacking the special element, I'm irritated and will always blank it.

"White face" is often used to refer to an ashen look, indicating fear or dismay. Since they're daringly trying to rescue Buckbeak in this scene, Rowling could be referring to the blood draining from her face from fear. But even I would call that a bit of a stretch. She wrote seven books, the last four of which were lengthy. I'm sure that among all of the words she wrote, it's easy to forget one adjective.

I'm pro-black Hermione. Who cares, anyway? A series this successful will probably be interpreted a thousand different ways for years to come. Let it be.

had she been black I would have no problem with black Hermione , race is a none issue to me, yet she wasn't black in the books but white so I dislike the idea of changing her race to be political correct.

I strongly dislike it when artists creative freedom gets revoked so some characters can get gender or race changes.

how about we honor the authors creativity by letting them decide how they want to make their own characters in their own stories?

That seems odd. It has become like Emma was Hermione, Hermione is Emma. Is this being done because they feel like they should show more black people?

her skin color doesnt matter in that her blood does tho #wizard lives matter

Black or white. She's still a filthy mudblood. :p

OT: I'm just curious about how the children would look. Caramel skin with wirey, curly ginger/light brown hair probably.

Mfw the author is backing it up and said she never wrote anything to confirm a particular race in the canon
