Introduction:

Masteries represent the pinnacle of ability specialization, offering extremely potent customization and custom potential to a biography that wants to pursue a long road to develop their ability to its absolute peak. Masteries are targeted toward lower tier abilities, typically Hidden Abilities, certain Advanced Ninjutsu, Kekkei Genkai, and Advanced Elements. Masteries go beyond what a simple specialization offers; a Mastery is one that has devoted their very being into their field. Masteries as a heightened form of specialization are meant for those who really want to take their ability, core to their bio, all the way. It isn’t meant for a simple power grab; each Mastery will require significant time, mission, and fight investment. Dropping your biography also resets your mastery. This system is still being tinkered with; Masteries as a whole, as well as specific fields, will be subject to change at any time.

Restrictions for Masteries are as follows. At any time, a single biography can only take on a single Mastery, and only for fields that they are available for. Likewise, the Mastery consumes one of the biography’s Specialty slots and restricts it from taking any specialties related to that Mastery. While this might appear to be a steep tradeoff, as it restricts one investing deeply into their chosen Field, Masteries themselves have the potential to be Tier 4 in their own right. This, combined with one’s own extensive arsenal of customs for a biography, can create a powerful biography that can breach Tier 5 potential.

The system is intended to encourage people to not feel forced in obtaining a Tier 5 biography to compete. While Tier 5 biographies will always be the strongest, typically because of their universal applicability, unique traits, and canon skills, this offers people a chance to pursue what they enjoy rather than what they feel they must. This is because a Mastery can breach that power threshold, though only within the field that the Mastery is related to.

Innerworkings of Masteries: Adepts & Expertise

Masteries are divided into two separate components: Adepts and Expertise. Adept traits are skills, passives, and traits that are shared over all Expertise branches. An Expertise is a specific branch of skills that is more uniquely specialized to the overall Mastery, and can be thought of as a branch of skills on a tree.

Developing a Mastery is done in either the Ninja World or the Battle Arena. These are dynamic requirements, and can be compared to a Bijuu’s skill trees. Thus, one has to complete a certain number of battles and missions and hold the abilities for a certain amount of time. But for all battle and missions that are used for ranking up and developing one’s Mastery, they must feature the skills that are being employed. Moderators hold discretion in determining this. Missions submitted for Masteries must be your missions.
