I think it went down with nagato, the chakras that were absorbed disapeared as if the owner died.. doesnt return to corpse or anything, like third sealed orochimarus hands, and he died, they were still sealed inside him.. i dont think anyone can summon it besides the owner of rinnegan.
I think so, the statue somehow sealed the chakra inside it, like someone sealing chakra inside a body, and if the statue cant be summoned by someone and controlled, all the bijues are lost. The statue was just a container i think, there was some other jutsu that nagato used to seal the chakra INSIDE the statue.

one things confuses me how could they start sealing the eight tails if pein wasn't there didn't they need al the nine phantom dragon seal that pein developed . unless madara can do this also.
Hmm not sure, I doubt Kishi would get rid of all Akatsuki's work just like that though. Pain was the most powerful ninja we have seen yet, I think he could very easily force a summon into this dimension and not worry about it de-summoning. Also when we see him summon it, it is a living creature, when they use it now though, it is a statue, Pain may have done that to ensure that it would not leave this dimension and his original plan for peace would come true, even if something happened to him.
it makes sense, but I was just thinking the statue is summoned from somewhere, so teoretically they should be able to go there and use it (wherever "there" is) unless it's like Preta said and it's from another dimension
pain could have summoned it then go to Konoha, remember that jutsu that allows them to gather even if they miles apart

If konan took him out of his wheelchair and packed him up in paper, he has to be dead... Rinnegan = samsara eye, if someone with it dies, someone else will be born, its not like other bloodline techs, like if 2 uchihas give birth to a child, the child will have sharingan, if someone with rinnegan does it with someone, the child wont have rinnegan maybe.
I also think that the statue is summoned from another dimension, and if the summoner dies, the summons disapear, as what happend when animal path died, the many headed dogs disapeared.
