Listen friends, I consider myself the resident dbz expert of the narutobase. I brought you threads like "the official canon guide" and in the coming week's i'll be posting a thread called "Dragonball Z Latent and Active power explained" in preperation for me adding the page to the dbz wiki.
The short of it is: things like unlocking your potential do the same thing super saiyan does. It take the energy you can use in your base form, and allows you to tap into MORE of you power. Thats why mystic gohan couldnt go super saiyan. i'm sure he could turn his hair yellow, it just wouldnt' yield any gains. All of his latent power is accessible
Goku spent years after becoming a ssj3 without being able to move past it. Once he became a god and felt that new power, (he was in base form as a god) he learned to use his max power in base form. So Base goku after battle of gods and SUPER saiyan goku after battle of gods is about the same strength.
The community calls this status "saiyan beyond god". Goku pretty much found out how to rechannel that previous godly ki and mixed it into his super saiyan transformatin. From what we can tell, it isn't STRIKINGLy stronger than his NEW base form. Its a good bit. As to "is it stronger than red haired god", the community is split. some say yes, he's a fair bit stronger (but less than say, even 2 times stronger because he's still weaker than beerus" and some say its just the same as red haired but without a time limit
