Honestly it's not the name that's the problem. It's actually Kish's fault that the name may not seem so appropriate.
What I mean is even the story (at large) is about Naruto and his journey, Kishi spent far too much of the story catering to the Uchiha clan. While this was ok to an extent as they are the main villains, We know way more about them then the actual protagonist's clan history or even his(Naruto's) family at large.
In fact so much time was spent explaining every facet and aspect of the Uchiha that other sides characters that should have been important to the series (Hinata and Sakura spring to mind) got little no development as well.
