He wanted nagato's rinne tensei for himself. He said it to himself and zetsu, when those 2 were alone. Zetsu knows tobi, so there was no lie involved.

Will he swap sides? I dont know. Its probably to late for that.
But if obito fights in the principle of ''the enemy of my enemy is my friend'', than naruto and co actually stand a chance.
Kakashi + gai + naruto + bee + obito vs madara.

Just as vs the 5 kages its 5 vs 1 again, but i give these 5 a better chance.
It would be an epic fight.

How can you miss such huge detail?! Obito never wanted Rinne Tensei for himself. Madara did. No one except for Zetsu knew about Tobi's true identity! To everyone else......he was Madara, that includes Pain and Konan. When he asked Konan that question, he asked it as Madara, not Obito.

Maybe for some other purpose.

Reviving madara just didnt seem on his list. He wasnt happy that madara got revived by kabuto either, even though he expected madara to be capable of breaking free.

I believe it is already foreshadowed that Kakashi and Obito will work together to try to stop Madara. He seems a prime candidate of talk no jutsu from some combination of Kakashi or Naruto. At the end of last chapter I believe Madara said that the true power of the sharingan can only be reached with both eyes. Just like Susano needs both eyes to activate I believe that the true power of Kamui can only be achieved with both eyes. Now this could be achieved if Obito took back his other eye from Kakashi or Kakashi took Obito's other eye but I believe it is more likely to happen with them working together. This was foreshadowed when in response to this statement from Madara Obito said then Kakashi and him would use both eyes together to protect Rin. Now this did not work out since Rin died and Obito went crazy but after some change of heart Obito will likely get he will follow those words with him and Kakashi using the power of both eyes to activate their true power. Though instead of protecting Rin they will be protecting NARUTO and the whole Ninja world.
