Don't exactly remember when i stopped the Anime (a very long time ago), but Kanto, Orange Islands and Johto were good.
As for the games... Emerald and HG/SS.

Kanto and Hoen are my favorite places with favorite pokemon. Unova of the 5. Generation had my favorite story in the games (original Black/White) tho.
