S. Meyer wrote these books having in her mind all the adolescent girls who wait for their prince to show up, thats the reason those books got so popular, they express every girl's dream ^^
So, since that prince in Twilight series is also immortal, hell strong, overprotective, very rich, amazingly kind and hot hot hot he had to be the "waiting type" also
