SoT6P wasn't lazy but did everything in his power to bring about peace and entrusted that peace to be maintained by his offspring. He could have never predicted that his elder son would start a rift. SoT6P had no reason to plot his ressurection
No one can just get up from their death bed on their own without plotting and planning and relying on someone else with the power to ressurect you...which is what Madara did, relying on Nagato & Obito to bring him back; although it turned out to be an over zealous Kabuto bringing Madara back
