Banning Religious and Political Threads

Actually i dont.
i do agree that it always end in flamming. but i think infractions should be gave out to people who insult other people political/religious views. im a christian so if i want to make a thread saying how "Good my GOD is" or "How was church" i wouldn't want that to be a problem. just nobody comment on it if that`s not your view.

Hence this is a forum, where everyone can sheir views/comments/opinions about the world, there shouldn't be a restrictions like "No religious/political threads on NB". These topics can be discussed, but people choose to be immature about it, and make comments that most of the time, sets off the whole convo. That's all there is to it. It's not the discussion, it's the people.

Thus the report button will show it's usefulness as will taking immaturity to profile or private messaging.

Well, the outcome really depends on the type of people who participate in these threads.

Use the report button when you see something that breaks the rules of the forum and the mods will deal with it as they see fit. That is the correct system. Making NB into a dictatorship is not the answer.

At that point, someone will have taken things personally and once it gets personal people tend to retort.

Religious more than anything because people may start to get offended whenn someone says something about how they live their life which is a personal thing and it's a very touchy subject in itself... especially with the amount of immature and dumb people on this site arguments/heated discussions will always come from those threads

actually alot of people on NB dont respect people religion/political views. i see people on here all the time attacking people about their views. but eh. long as its not me. me personally i will get mad if some1 insult my religion. and i know a dirty insult from some1 point of view, but i fight my battles very calmy. without verbal abuse (most times) so im good

It shouldnt have to depend on the type , people in general should learn to respect peoples decisions and not cause flamming wars and such due to disagreeing

I don't think so people flame and troll in ALL topics of the forum so it wouldn't be fair to ban these topics. It's like banning versus threads.

That's true, I think mostly in religious threads. It's (nearly) impossible to prevent someone from getting offended. There will always be at least one person who takes things a step too far or takes a reasonable argument as a personal attack, even if it wasn't meant that way.

But I'm not sure if a whole topic should be banned for that. You can always just report the person who does it, right? Don't simple infractions (or bans, if it gets to that point) work?

I agree.
The topics themselves should not be banned simply because people misinterpret someone else's argument.

People also have a tendency to ignore the simple report button because the feel telling them directly works better but it, instead, sparks a personal argument which ends up as flaming.

Infractions and bans would work if member greatly value the NB and don't want to be banned, but to many people Value NB, most people just use it as a Time Killer ( like i do.

Yeah, I'll have to say that I would be dancing around my room if they were banned. Those threads get outta hand very quickly and causes so much trouble to clean up.

I've been in religion fight and it ended up with flaming, cursing, and eventually the thread was banned like three hours after it was put up. :/
